Wine Trail Wilderness was a wonderful secluded spot to setup and camp for the night. We were able to drive 20 minutes and explore the Pomona Natural Bridge before settling down for the night. Our site had everything we needed with a clean outhouse. My kids loved walking the area and watching the fireflies and rabbits come out at dusk. They also played several rounds of bocce ball on the fantastic court setup in the middle of the campgrounds. Jon was a fantastic host and provided a warm welcome when we arrived.

Wonderfully enthusiastic and well thought out location. John and Carla were great hosts and always available for a question or recommendation. We stayed on the south end near the "outpost" side of the meadow and that was great. That end of the meadow was level, and shady in the afternoon. The composting toilet building was clean and very well thought out. Power and a 5 gallon jug of cold water was always available. We had a wonderful stay. Our focus was the hiking at Giant City State Park and the Garden of the Gods, National forest. But some of the other hikes were also amazing, especially the little grand canyon (bring water) and the Pomona land bridge. And finally, we were not thinking that the wineries were going to be a highlight, but John and Carla's place is in-between two wonderful wineries that were only 1/2 mile and 1 mile either side of their location and were so amazingly laid back. Both were great, but don't miss the Pomona Winery. Very pleasant.

Great spot! Hosts were super helpful and kind. We stayed at the Grainzebo near the bocce ball court—beautiful area and felt private even with other campers around. My dogsloved it, and we had a blast at the nearby wineries. Would definitely come back!

WTW is amazing! Our two night stay couldn’t have been more relaxing and carefree. The camp site was exactly what we imagined and Jon and Carla were so kind and helpful.
When we started to depart we saw that we had a flat tire and Jon saved the day. We wouldn’t have been able to do the repair with what we had on hand. He went way above and beyond, got us on the road and we couldn’t be more grateful. Can’t recommend highly enough!

Wine Trail Wilderness was an awesome getaway. The location is quiet, scenic, and tucked right in the heart of the Shawnee National Forest. The drive in, past the wineries and winding roads, set the tone for a peaceful and relaxing stay.
The property is beautiful and full of character—from the straw-bale home that feels like a cozy villa to the cool converted grain bin “GrainZebo.” We loved sitting around the fire pit, sharing stories and laughs with other guests and Jon. You can tell a lot of care went into creating a space that feels both welcoming and one-of-a-kind.
Jon is a fantastic host—super responsive, helpful, and clearly passionate about the experience he’s created here. It’s easy to see why this place is rated so highly.
Whether you’re camping with family, friends, or just looking for a break in nature, this is a great place to unplug and recharge. Highly recommend!

I never give reviews. I’m bad that way. But this one I have to write.
Started out on Thursday on a hot 90 degree day. On the trip down my sister, who was with us, best friend died. My daughter who is single, had issue with her gallbladder. We kept going then an hour from our destination my camper tire blew; blowing a hole in my campers floor. We kept going after some temporary fixes. That was a story in itself.
From that point things got a little better. The ride to the middle of nowhere was beautiful!! The campsite was just what I expected, so relaxing. Jon or was is it Don 🤣 was the best host. He was very concerned about what happened. Was willing to let us reschedule, but I’m glad we didn’t. The campsite was great but Jon was greater. Spent his whole Sunday rebuilding the hole in my camper. How many hosts would do that?
We were blessed to have him. I would recommend using his facilities 100 times over. Thanks Jon, you made the trip worth it. 🙏😎

A calm restful welcoming vibe. We had such a great relaxing 2 nights in our camper. Fresh breezes and plenty of shade. Our host, Laura, was wonderful and very sweet to show us around to all the good spots. Thank you so much! Next time we're bringing our friends!

I really enjoyed camping at Wine Trail Wilderness. The spot I had was mostly shaded and included picnic / outdoor table and seating. They’re pretty close to two trails that I checked out (Little Grand Canyon and Natural Bridge), and I even did some mild off-roading in the area, on some old fire service roads.
At my campsite I had firewood, a fire pit and even had a wine bottle delivered to my camp spot from the local Pomona Winery nearby. The camp site hosts were very friendly and helpful!

This is an awesome space - highly recommend. Wonderful hosts who stay on top of the site, keeping it clean and neat. They'll also bring ice, stickers, etc. Clean outhouse facilities. Will definitely stay again when in the area.

As soon as I arrived at the Art Farm, I felt like I was at home. It is a good location for those who need electric hookup or wish to boondock. There is a lot of flexibility of where and how to camp and that is what makes it so special. There are also shaded places where you can sit and enjoy the calming sounds of nature or socialize with others. Everything was clean and organized. I particularly enjoyed the sunsets and sunrises across the field which ended and started my day with a sense of peace.

Lovely place! The owners were really nice. The land is gorgeous and they had a camp fire set up ready for us to light. We are on the road a lot and this was the perfect place to stay overnight between cities.

Such a nice spot and a wonderful host! We really wish we could’ve stayed longer but had to be on our way. Are hoping to come back out to visit again and would absolutely recommend. The host met us at their property and guided us to the site, provided ample firewood, prepared the fire pit for us, and had ice water ready and more ice available. It was a nice stay for the dogs too!
