Joel and I have co-authored several books (under the pen name J.E. Ribbey) which are also available in the Farm Store. We have an American post-apocalyptic thriller series and a historical fiction series for middle grade readers about the American Revolutionary War.
We have a nice, fully private outdoor shower with hot water available for $2.50/shower. Guests can pay on-site via our posted QR codes or cash box.

Enjoy our back lot for a private campsite which borders a prairie preserve. Watch the deer come in the morning and evening and listen to our friendly, happy hens cluck away, not to mention all the beautiful song birds. We are happy to share our golf clubs and balls to hit a few into the field. Our kids love it!
Tree coverage along with an open field. We cut the field to offer a walking trail to the prairie preserve. There is a tree surronded, very private tent site for tenters, but if you have a camper you can find a spot that works best for you! (The tent site is very private and a camper would not fit.)
We are a short 10 min drive to Stillwater but there is so much to do in Somerset! Take a walk around the prairie preserve and kayak down the apple river, but don’t forget the local brewery and boutique shop. There is some great fishing on local lakes in the area as well. We offer a 30 amp electric hook up and our hose for water. We also have a shower tent with a camping porta potty.

Dedicated private space is in lower level backyard with access to dock* (*May -September), lake and wildlife wetlands with boardwalk. You'll see the setting sun from the end of the dock and have access to a paver patio firepit. Private 3/4 bath and comfortable TV room is 60 steps away in the house. Mostly private spaces with some shared spaces such as driveway, hallways, sometimes we cross paths in the yard. Mystic Lake Casino, Canterbury Downs, renaissance fest, Valleyfair, & many other area lakes besides the 600 acre all sports lake that the property is located on are in the immediate area. For location purposes, we are located 3.7 miles of the Prior Lake, MN McDonald's.
The basic price of $80 per night includes up to two campers inside or outside of the cottage, but up to two additional campers and tents can be added to the reservation for $20 per person/ per night. A limit of two persons inside of the cottage and four persons total are allowed per reservation. All persons must be declared ahead of reserving the space and ID’d for insurance purposes. Please note that all persons on the reservation must submit a copy of their valid picture government ID to the host (via platform) prior to arrival (but after booking), and sign a property liability waiver upon check in. The host will discuss the procedure with you as HC supports pictures only after booking. Please ask prior to booking if you have any questions about this- this is a requirement of our short term rental insurance, and part of our self check in procedure.

The space
Designed with modern and well equipped spaces in mind, the entire second floor of the barn space is for our guests use including a full laundry room and fully equipped kitchen.
For sleeping accommodations we have the main "owners" bedroom with a queen bed, the secondary bedroom has 2 twin beds. In the living room, the sofa has a pull-out queen mattress made of quality memory foam and bedding. In addition to or if preferred, we also have a Queen size double high air mattress with built in pump and also a twin double high mattress with built in pump and all bedding.
The Loft at Strawberry Hill provides its guests fresh towels, linens, and many other necessities such as dish soap, dishwasher/laundry tabs, shampoo etc.
Other things to note
Balconies on both ends to enjoy beautiful sunrise and sunsets. Many trails for walking. Afton Alps resort and Afton State Park close by. Private fire pit and Adirondack chairs on premises for our guests outdoor use. Great restaurants in quaint downtown Hudson 8 min. away and historic Stillwater 15 min. away.
For bed setup. We can sleep 6 comfortably or more depending on if the queen beds are shared. There is one queen bed in bedroom #1. Bedroom #2 has 2 twin beds. Then we have 2 nice tall inflatable mattresses with built in pumps and all needed bedding that set up in the living room. One mattress is a queen and the other is a twin.
We also have a tiny home on the property if extra space is needed, please inquire! You can find it listed as "The Little House on Strawberry Hill.

For sleeping accommodations we have the main "owners" bedroom with a queen bed, the secondary bedroom has 2 twin beds. In the living room, the sofa has a pull-out queen mattress made of quality memory foam and bedding. In addition to or if preferred, we also have a Queen size double high air mattress with built in pump and also a twin double high mattress with built in pump and all bedding.
The Loft at Strawberry Hill provides its guests fresh towels, linens, and many other necessities such as dish soap, dishwasher/laundry tabs, shampoo etc.
Other things to note
Balconies on both ends to enjoy beautiful sunrise and sunsets. Many trails for walking. Afton Alps resort and Afton State Park close by. Private fire pit and Adirondack chairs on premises for our guests outdoor use. Great restaurants in quaint downtown Hudson 8 min. away and historic Stillwater 15 min. away.
For bed setup. We can sleep 6 comfortably or more depending on if the queen beds are shared. There is one queen bed in bedroom #1. Bedroom #2 has 2 twin beds. Then we have 2 nice tall inflatable mattresses with built in pumps and all needed bedding that set up in the living room. One mattress is a queen and the other is a twin.
We also have a tiny home on the property if extra space is needed, please inquire! You can find it listed as "The Little House on Strawberry Hill.

Spend the weekend in a 30 foot, eco-friendly, rehabbed vintage Mallard Trailer. Rebuilt using many recycled materials, electrified with solar panels and decorated with creative flare, you are certain to enjoy your stay in- and outside of the Sandhill Sleeper. Inside, you will find room for up to 4 people to sleep (one double bed and table nook converts to bed), a kitchenette with water and a two-burner propane stove top.

Beautiful space! Many times pictures make a place look pretty, but you get there and everything is flimsy. Not here! The couches and bed were very comfortable, the kitchen was very well stocked etc. We stayed in winter, so didn't explore the grounds too much, but could see there was a lot to do.

5 nights at Cozy Lakeside Cottage Guestroom
This was exactly what I was looking for. The property (and expected experience) is accurately described.
The property, including the cottage/camping area is bordered by trees and brush on two sides and the lake (with a dense growth of cattails) on the third.
Even though cottage/camping area is technically a spacious "backyard" I did feel like I was camping. The "cottage" is pretty much the size of an Expedition tent.
I stayed for five nights. I precooked my meals and home intending to heat them over the fire but ended using the microwave instead.
For this time year (late October) this is good option. If the weather gets nasty (too cold or even snow) the "cottage" is a wonderful backup.

We stayed here for our anniversary weekend and had a great time. The dwelling is a well renovated and spacious loft in a barn at the back of a property. Although physically near other hobby farms, it felt secluded and private.
It’s a short drive, about 20 minutes, north to Stillwater and all the amazing dining options or the same distance south to Afton State Park with its hiking trails.

My grandkids; ages 8 and 10 and I visited wonderful farm this past weekend for a one nite getaway. We all loved the experience! The kids rollerbladed in the barn, played with the cats and loved seeing the goats and chickens! Our glampung tent was perfect; comfortable bed and fun vibe. We definitely will be back next year! We had a wonderful weekend in our cabin. The cabin was very clean upon arrival, well stocked on toilet paper, paper towels, linens, plenty of cooking utensils, pans. We arrived with groceries but forgot ketchup and mayo, to our surprise there was some in the fridge already (thank you).
The fishing right outside the cabin is great. Just walk to the shore, throw a crawler on a split spot rig and cast right into the main flow line of the river. We caught dozens of bass, sheep head, some 5-10lb catfish, a suckered.
The kayaks were all set on a stand upon arrival along with a SUP. The river itself was a gorgeous site. Very easy to kayak both ways. Please bring some water shoes or Crocs if you intend on walking in the water or swimming. Our oldest caught a treble hook left by someone to the bottom of his croc. Also pulled in some other tackle on the bottom of the river from people who got snagged. Just use caution.
We dined at A&W and Pizza Pub for their Friday pizza buffet. The Art Festival in town on Saturday was pretty cool. Prolly over 50 different vendors there selling different things.
The owners and everyone else we met in Pine City were all very friendly. It's such a wonderful town. We planned on exploring the area more originally, but some time at this cabin was all we needed.
If it wasn't 7 hours away I'd already be booking another trip back !!!! Thank you to the owners for doing a great job !!!

Weekend Trip to Sandhill Sleeper
Terrific rental, wonderful experience!
The Sandhill Sleeper is a fully renovated stationary RV. I loved that all the overhead cabinets and walls were removed in the rebuild. Looks great and feels spacious. Had lovely details like espresso beans and fresh cut flowers. Comfy bed and terrific lighting. 2-burner gas cooktop and deep sink with electric water pump made cooking and cleanup easy.
The Sleeper is located on the owner's property but feels private (no windows face the house) and secluded (away from the road on a wooded farm).
Mine was a solo visit, but couples or groups can enjoy the board and card games provided. I spent the afternoon exploring the grounds, which includes sauna use and a dip in the Trade river. At night I read and journaled at the banquette style table.
I am generally privy squeamish, but theirs was new, clean, well lit (high windows) and insect secure.
Highly recommend. Book it!
