The Hamlet Lake homestead is our 10-acre family home with two unique and private hip-camp sites. We have both lakeshore (in front) and a hobby farm with cows, chickens and goats in our back lawn and woods. The Hamlet Lake Bunkhouse is located to the west of our home in its own secluded parcel next to the lake. The Camp on Hamlet Hill (closed for 2026) is to the north of our home, on a remote flat hill at the top of our property, on a hill over Cedar brook. with 300-acre, (private) Hamlet Lake in front, and the wide portion of the 20-mile Cedar brook in the back. We are a large "homesteading" family, with chickens, ducks, and a garden. The campsite is a private 1/2 acre clearing, surrounded by woods with a firepit, grill, cooking utensils, and an outhouse. (Tents are available for a small additional cost). There is an outdoor water pump below the hill, near which guests can view our fenced-in animals. Guests can also access the waterfront and beach in front, with the use of the swim raft, lily pad, fishing dock, canoe, kayak, and paddle boards included. At nearly 100 feet deep, Hamlet lake also boasts excellent fishing. Our home is located 6 miles from Crosby, with the world-class Cuyuna Lakes 50-mile mountain bike trail system. Crosby is a growing tourist town with many new and unique restaurants, outdoor adventures, and shopping opportunities. The paved bike trail begins 3.5 north of us. Milacs lake is 10 miles to the south.

The cabin features neutral colors, pine ceiling, minimal decor, excellent use of space and abundant windows so you can enjoy plenty of natural light and always be looking into the woods. Great room with comfy leather furniture, dining table, 75" Smart TV with PS4 and cozy wood stove. Thoughtfully designed galley kitchen, all the essentials and a large pantry. Breakfast nook/work area with additional dining table and chairs. Main level bedroom with a queen bed and plenty of closet space. Loft with 2 queen and 1 single beds. Bathroom with shower and heater / exhaust fan. Washer and dryer too!
Other things to note:
The lakeshore is beautiful, but it requires a short walk along the gravel road and then a short hike down to the lakeshore where there are metal chairs and a dock. The dock is very basic but functional and a boat can be tied to it. Aquatic plants grow up in the water in the later summer. Dock is available Memorial Day to Labor Day. We are continuing to work on the lakeshore. We are finishing some steps down the slope and hope to have a longer dock in the future. Please reach out with any questions.

The A frame was so fun to be in! I loved the concept of opening up the side and having the dogs relax and be able to go in and out when they wanted! The river right next to the site was peaceful, so many birds for bird watching and not too many mosquitoes when we went (although ticks loved our dogs). The owners let us try some of their wine and got to meet the other campers which was super fun and had a lot of laughs! Go meet Carl and his family, they are so wonderful. It’s right next to Rum River State Forest and not too far from Lake Mille Lacs. Great stay! Would come back :)

Love the private cozy cabin! The wind through the pines is such a soothing sound! We enjoyed the hoots of the resident barred owl and distant honking of swans in the nearby channel. We even saw a little otter pop up onto the ice! Lots of hiking and restaurant options nearby.
The addition of a bathroom is a nice treat! Truly would love to stay here again!

A BEAUTIFUL spot! Very peaceful spot on a slow moving river! On a Sunday in early spring there was lots of gunshots. I think there might be a nearby shooting range. Also had dogs barking all night that made me leave in the middle of the night. I’m assuming the dogs are not a usual issue but if the sounds of gunshots off in the distance bothers you this place might not be for you. Overall I loved the place and I’ll be coming back again. If the dog thing happens the second time I probably won’t return.

We loved our stay at this cabin, and will definitely be back. The cabin strikes a perfect balance between a rustic and modern getaway.
We had a minor mixup getting the keys when we first arrived, but host Robert helped me get it fixed right away. When we got into the cabin, the wood stove was preloaded and already going, which was an awesome respite from the -10f temps outside.

This is my fourth time staying at Harvest Loon and it never disappoints. Even in the dead of winter, this place is cozy and charming. We had so much fun hanging out by the wood stove, listening to music, and getting some respite from city life. We got stuck in snow on our way out and Bob was super helpful sending out a plow guy.

We had the most wonderful weekend get away. Its a great place to disconnect from screens and get back in touch with nature. It was a beautiful wooded area right on the lake. The wood burning stove was so nice and warm. It was the perfect place to relax and reset with friends. The cabin itself comes with everything you could need with a warm rustic ambiance. I noticed their website said they were already closed for the season but HipCamp still let me book it. I was half-expecting a call back and a refund but instead, they were more than welcoming of my stay and even sort of apologetic that some of the amenities were no longer available this late in the year. On top of that, I got held up in traffic and didn’t arrive until almost 8:30pm which they did not seem the least bit bothered by. One day, as I was returning from the trails with my dog, they offered her treats and an adorable Sunset Pines scarf!
I was only in town for a wedding but will definitely make the trip again in the future, maybe even get myself a seasonal RV lot someday!
