Our goal was to find a place we could wake up in the woods, and this was the spot! Nice having coffee on the deck overlooking the property and ending the day w a fire. We were pretty self-sufficient, but my impression was that if we needed something we could just message to ask. I would have liked to be more social w. our hosts but just didn’t have the energy; the whole point of us being there was for a much needed respite. Also we were there during the work week and they were busy going about their business. We stayed in the treehouse and didn’t need the heat even, it is pretty well insulated which also cuts the train noise others commented on. Super cute goat! Very personable turkey! Definitely the woods go back a fair ways for exploring. We found good nearby hikes too; the big loop around the lake at Metamora-Hadley was a really good route.

Fantastic experience all around! Jiya was there to greet me when I arrived and showed me around the property. The Cricket and Thicket campsites are nearly identical, with Cricket being slightly closer to your car and Thicket being slightly closer to the bathhouse. Both are lovely little plots in a gorgeous setting. The property is lush, with flowers, fruit trees, and whimsical touches. The neighborhood is an inspiring example of urban renewal -- you'll drive (or walk!) by farms, gardens, playgrounds, and parks -- a little oasis in the midst of a big city. I saw children playing in the streets and even deer strolling along at dusk. In other words, I felt safe leaving my tent here as I explored Detroit. And this was a great home base for said exploring! An easy drive to the Henry Ford museum and to downtown. Would definitely stay here again if I'm ever in the area. A+

The site was nice; an wide open plot of lush grass with tall shrubs encircling it so we weren’t right next to the road, although it was audible still. Right next to the Lefurge Preserve, which was really beautiful the morning we dropped by. Lyanna was very responsive and kind!

If you're looking for a place to get away for a few days I'd highly recommend. Booked during the week in September and had the whole place to myself. Plenty of places to walk around on the property and explore. I stayed in the treehouse and would encourage you to try it for yourself.
The hosts left me pretty much to myself unless I requested something and they were friendly and quick to respond if I needed something (fresh eggs, firewood, etc).
The tent campsites I saw were all nice and clean and were far enough apart to have some privacy if they have multiple guests. They also have a group campground.
One note, watch the chickens, they are sneaky and will sneak up and steal your food if you aren't careful.
I'll definitely be back.

Beautiful lot. Everything was super cute and well kept would totally recommend my friends to come and potentially book out the entire space. Jiya was super accommodating and the area was quiet and private as we were the only ones that booked the lot for the weekend.

This was my first Hipcamp experience.
Our host was great. They were very responsive and helpful and very accommodating when we got there. They filled tiki torches, delivered firewood, and we had some laughs before we started to set up camp.
The site was clean and the property is beautiful. We pet the goat, and the turkey laughed at us.
There are outdoor showers (heated) a short walk up the trail. There is a cool trail that loops around the property.
The train, as mentioned by others, did wake me up a couple times. I'll definitely be back at this site but I'm a light sleeper and will just bring my loops/ear plugs.
Sleeping in may also be tough considering the rooster. I usually sleep in on weekends but we were excited to wake up and get the fire going again.
There are portable toilets which are way better than up against a tree.
The location is great coming from metro area - Oxford Grill is a nice stop on the way in or out and Bald Mountain recreation area/shooting range.
Surprisingly low amount of mosquitoes/bugs while we were there.

Loved our stay, it was a total vibe- very raw land which we appreciate. The goat, chickens, and turkeys follow you everywhere (including the shower) which is hilarious, as they become your own personal groupies- they are little thieves though, so keep your food guarded, they stole a peach from our toddler and some watermelon. Don’t worry it was local and organic. The zip line into the swimming area was really fun and we loved hearing the train pass by several times a day. Our only issue was the amount of poison ivy at two of the RV sites, with a toddler and a dog who love to explore it was impossible to stay out of it. Luckily we were able to utilize a different area for socializing but if the spots are all booked this wouldn’t have been an option. All that said we would still recommend this campsite and would love to return in the future. It was peaceful, wild, calming and exactly what we needed. Om Shanti

Tent camping at Mystic Hills was peaceful. The land was spacious and open. The fire pit was nice. There was no need to build our own. I enjoyed that convenience. Can't go wrong with having a place to make s'mores!!! The hosts were amazing. They were prompt with any questions when I asked. They were friendly and engaging in conversation. If tent camping in Michigan is your goal, Mystic Hills is definitely the place to stay. It's also convenient for access to Ann Arbor.

Weekend Trip to Thousand S.’s Land
The Treehouse and surrounding property are beautiful and serene. So much to see and experience, it felt like being in a different world. The host is very accommodating and provided everything we needed to make our stay great. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a getaway and place to recharge.

Had a fantastic couple of nights at Thousand Suns with some friends and our kids. Was our daughter’s first camping experience and it was the best location for us! Between the amenities provided and activities on site we had a blast. Jordan (who greeted us and replenished our firewood) was super friendly and accommodating. Definitely recommend booking a camping trip here and look forward to returning.

Patrick was great, place is great. As we were pulling in Patrick was up in the treehouse installing an air conditioning unit because it has been so hot. So glad he did, it was over 90 degrees throughout most of our stay. Appreciated it so much.

This place is awesome. Cool, genuine people, lots of space, a lake to swim in, and a small animal street gang that is led by a cantankerous wild turkey (the turkey is just playing his role in the gang, so no judgement… Deep down, he’s actually kind of a softy).

1 night at Thousand S.’s Land
Great spot, the trailer was clean and the hosts were friendly. The swimming hole with the zip line was a lot of fun as well. Would recommend.
