Rick’s cabin was incredible decorated and came stocked with all utensils and cookware needed. The fire pit was incredible and there was so much fire wood for us to use. The cabin is also very close to Cadillac which made going out to dinner and groceries a short trip! We also loved getting greeted by Rick’s dog, Jackson.

4 nights at Ricky’s Pine River hunt/camp

Rick's cabin was quaint, clean, comfortable, and was everything I wanted and needed for this long weekend. The land was simply stunning. Lodge pole pines, sandy trails, beautiful mossy marshy areas, and from what I hear, the potential for morels. Didn't find any because of rain, but there's always next time! I brought way too many things, not knowing what to expect and this being my first HipCamp adventure. Beds had fresh, clean linens, pillows, and there were lots of warm blankets. A flashlight, butane burner for cooking, candles for evenings, and plenty of wood for the fire were all there and ready for me. Camp chairs too! I love that previous HipCampers left things for the next person like candles, and notes. In the spirit of things I left a couple citronella candles and some incense myself. Rick himself was just lovely. He was exactly the right amount of friendly and helpful, and "let the girl be a hermit" in the woods. ☺️ He checked in to make sure I had all the wood and kindling I needed, especially on the day it rained. He also made a lunch location suggestion in town. Super helpful guy. Brought my dog, we saw turkey tracks and deer tracks, were awakened by a roudy woodpecker, and heard coyotes howling early in the morning. A pair of loud herons flew overhead half a dozen times. Crows, ravens, hawks. So many birds. Such a great place for wildlife! The wood burning stove was plenty warm enough for 40-50 degree nights. I can't say enough about this gem.

Weekend Trip to Air & Sun Acres

Krista provided a clean, creative, comfortable cabin. She is a great communicator and provided many extras, including dry firewood and a hammock. Love the bed set-up with option for two twins or a king in the loft. We enjoyed hiking the trails and hanging on the front porch. The outhouse is very clean. It’s a quiet setting, though close enough to 131 that you will hear some background freeway noise. That said, proximity to the freeway is what makes this an easy to access location and for those using the nearby rail trail to go the full distance, this stop is great! Go ahead and book it - you won’t be sorry.

3 nights at Air & Sun Acres

The cabin was nice for me, and I can easily see bringing a family there. The refrigerator is the size typically found in a hotel room, so plan your food accordingly if you are coming with several people. This is a small issue given such a quiet and nice location. I liked having several trails within walking distance, and lots more like Silver Creek and the North Country Trail that are within easy driving distance. My 3-night stay was not enough for me to explore all of the hiking opportunities--hoping to make a return visit!

This place was exactly what we were hoping for! We wanted to get our son out into nature, and this cabin was perfect. Tucked back on the property and surrounded by forest, it offers views of a beaver pond in the distance—peaceful and secluded. Rick was an amazing host and made sure we had everything we needed. His friendly golden retriever, Jackson, even stopped by to play with our dog and son, which was such a fun bonus! If you're looking for a nice, simple getaway in the woods, I’d definitely recommend booking some time at Rick's place. We had a great experience and are already looking forward to our next visit.

Just a peaceful and relaxing stay. The pictures don't do this cabin justice. It's so much better than expected. Many personal touches and the outhouse was the best outhouse I've ever seen!! As a rustic camper I've been in plenty and this was bathroom adjacent. I will definitely want to come back as there is so much to do at the cabin and nearby.

Really great little cabin and Rick is a fantastic host. We enjoyed hiking around the property in the snow looking for big pines. Also a great place to just relax and unwind. We’ll definitely be back!

Weekend Trip to Ricky’s Pine River hunt/camp

This is the coziest cabin ever if you'd like to experience being tucked away in the middle of winter. We enjoyed snowfall all day and there was already over a foot of snow on the ground, making for great snowshoeing. Our dogs loved running and playing with host dog Jack. The Jøtul stove is amazing, Scandinavian ingenuity! Nearby Cadillac is a great town to visit for eats and drinks!

Weekend Trip to Ricky’s Pine River hunt/camp

Winter camping at its finest! 2-3 feet of snow but the woodstove kept us plenty warm! 80 acres of beautiful land to wander/snowshoe around. Peace and quiet. Rick was responsive and super helpful when we got turned around snowshoeing. Basics were provided. No electricity or water so make sure you bring candles/solar lights and something to charge your phones with. We did just find by candlelight and headlamps. Always a bonus to unplug from your phone for an entire weekend. We will definitely be back!

We had an amazing winter getaway from the city in Rick’s cozy cabin. We loved the serenity & solitude while our dog had a blast running around. Rick was super helpful supplying firewood and making sure we were all set. We will 100% be back!!

Our property was originally the only homestead on this road. WE offer 4 Walk in Tent sites and a RV site for small campers up 20 ft.- 20 Amp service Only!!! WE also have a 59 Vintage Shasta that rents nightly up to 3 nites The big barn was built over 100 years ago and is still standing. The farm house was built in 1907. It has been remodeled with a second story added. Pine trees were planted to prevent erosion in the 1960's. The national park began buying land near us in the 1970's and the boundary line to the park is a half-mile from Moonshadow Camp. The area is surrounded by state forests and many hiking and biking trails. Our valley is known for incredible stargazing. Amenities include full access to the Camp kitchen and dining area. You will also have access to a Portable restroom and hand washing station which is located by our BIG BARN. Hot Showers, no problem, you can enjoy a secluded private shower in our shower house which has indoor and outdoor showers. Nearby is Lake Michigan and Esch Rd beach. Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lake shore is nearby and The National Park is famous for attractions , trails, and hiking. Electricity and water is included at the RV site, and the Shasta Camper along with the Showerhouse and Camp Kitchen
