Located in Clare county, Harrison is surrounded by 20 lakes within 20 minutes. Harrison is also known for its large amount of state land for recreational activities all year round. We are across the street from Little Long lake and right up the road from Budd Lake public boat launches. We have deeded lake access to Little Long Lake with use of our paddle boat and kayaks. We can provide parking with a boat, trailer, etc., but will need to be arranged prior to check-in. There are several restaurants, delivery options, and a grocery store right down the road. There is also a putt putt golf, skiing and snow tubing at Snow Snake, arcade, batting cages, bowling, indoor golf, ax throwing, beaches and Wilson State Park. If you have side-by-sides, quads, jeeps, snowmobiles, or dirt bikes, there are endless options with groomed trails in the area for you to ride all day long. Our property has two cabins on property, the Harrison Hideaway cabin and Wanderer's Hideaway that can be rented together for larger groups or rented separately. We take pride in a clean bath house, and want everyone to have a great time at our campground. Sometimes it's crazy booked up and other times it may just be you. Upon arriving at the property, you will enter through a gate and arrive to the secluded camp area with a beautiful, cozy full log cabin. *Please note the directions begin at the Shell Station (102 South Michigan Avenue, Manton, MI 49663) because the cabin doesn't have a physical address.* We're happy to meet you and guide you right to it! The cabin has propane lighting, propane refrigerator, an antique stove with burner tops, and a free-standing propane gas stove for crisp evenings. There is a small kitchen area with a sleeping loft above and a sitting/family area at the far end of the cabin. The kitchen is equipped with pots and pans, coffee pot, dishes, and misc. utensils. *Please bring your own linens, pillows, and water. On the backside of the cabin, you'll find a peaceful sitting area with a firepit. When nature calls, there is a well-built outhouse that is available. There is also a large outdoor shower with heated water and a dressing area. There are trails that meander through the property for those who enjoy walking, biking, snowmobiling, or four wheeling. You won't find a more peaceful, tranquil property to relax in and enjoy the wildlife. Only 1.3 miles into Manton with several bars and restaurants. Within 3 miles you are able to gain access to State property, the Manistee River, and Chase Creek. From the trails in this area you can go as far as Houghton Lake and Fife Lake. Great area for hunting, fishing, four wheeling, dirt bikes, and hiking. This is a great getaway you don't want to miss out on!

Our most recent improvement is an air conditioner in the Crow's Nest. Sheila grew up just across the road and spent many hours riding her horse and writing poetry on the property. No discharge of firearms is allowed on this property. As a retired artist, we love to entertain creative peaceful people and many think of our place as a quiet sanctuary that encourages creativity. We provide games, both outdoor and indoor, a screen house, hammock, nature trails and a new camp store with local items and snacks. There is an Amish community close by and a tour map is provided. We are also close to the largest canopy walk in the US at Whiting Forest and Dow Gardens. Only 25 minutes away. There is a small water park in the closest town with a beach. Locally there is tubing and canoeing at the Cedar River in Gladwin and kayaking at Pinconning Park on Saginaw Bay. Guests can explore many antique shops as well as Pinconna and Northwoods Outlet store. Many of our campers never leave the property but choose to relax and watch the life of the forest. We provide linens, towels, and cookware. There is a grill outside and a microwave and oven inside along with a coffee maker and mini fridge.

The Eagle's Nest was the perfect camping experience with the upgrade of not having to set up a tent! About 40 minutes from the Manistee River Trail, which is where my husband and I headed the next day. Great setup with lots of space, nice fire ring, sawdust toilet, and Jeff was a communicative, thoughtful host.

4 nights at The Crow’s Nest Forest Camp

Sheila and Jeff are fantastic, welcoming hosts! I loved chatting and getting to know them. When I went out and about, they gave me great recommendations for routes and places to stop. It was fairly rainy and wet during my stay, but I loved the cozy, dry warmth of the Crow's Nest and definitely recommend it to others!

Awesome spot, super beautiful, and Jeremy is great. One major thing to keep in mind: you will definitely want a 4WD vehicle if there has been heavy rain, the dirt road can get flooded out. Otherwise, great place and can’t wait to go back.

This is a great cabin. Appreciate all the supplies that are available. We forgot to bring fuel for the stove and there was plenty in the cabin the for us for the weekend. Ricky is kind and welcoming. This was my 2nd visit would definitely recommend.

Very private and quiet. We really enjoyed our stay. It is absolutely beautiful in the trails! It was well stocked in blankets, firewood, propane tank, etc. We liked the fire pit and the view.

Rick and the cabin were fantastic! 2 kids 2 adults for 2 nights, we were comfortable and warm through an entire day of freezing rain. We will be back to experience it in sun and snow.

Weekend Trip to Air & Sun Acres

We had a wonderful spring equinox weekend! Because of a very short area power outage on our first night, we ended up switching from Gabriel’s Cabin to Mother Lodge — they were both lovely, and I’m looking forward to staying in both of them again. The kitchens had everything we needed to cook with, and the beds were comfortable, and both spaces are really pretty and relaxing and thoughtfully organized. Krista and Brian were both really helpful and quick in getting us into a cabin with wood heat and finding some battery-powered and solar lights for us until we had electricity again. The creek is beautiful to explore around, and we had a great time exploring the trails. We heard barred owls and sandhill cranes and saw some cool mushrooms from last year. We’re really looking forward to coming back in warmer weather!

The cabin was amazing, we didn’t have ideal weather this past weekend but that wood burning stove and the sauna kept us really warm all weekend, we will be back in the summer to take advance of the river. Thanks again for sharing your cabin with us.

Weekend Trip to CUT RIVER CABIN AT HIGGINS LAKE

Always a great stay, this is our 3rd trip here and more to come in the future. Extremely peaceful and great for a couples getaway and a trip with the entire family as well. Beautiful land right on the cleanest river in the state, cabin is spacious but cozy and the sauna is a huge plus, with a dock nearby perfect for cold plunges. Not a neighbor or other house within earshot or eyesight, but still a quick drive to grab pizza or groceries if wanted.

It was a great cabin just as expected. We had a wonderful time winter camping. Stayed warm and toasty inside the cabin with the wood burning stove. I was impressed with all the extra things in the cabin like a spatula which was very handy for breakfast when we made pancakes. I would 100% go back. Beautiful experience.

4 nights at Billy’s Place in the Woods

Billy's place and land is the epitome of a quiet, rustic getaway. The host himself is communicative and thorough. It's clear he cares about his property, and about my time out there. Billy explains the cabin and setup perfectly. Like camping, with four walls and roof. You have all you need there. If you want glamping, this isn't it. If you want a real, genuine outdoor experience in a serene peaceful environment, this is it. Billy's place provides just enough comfort to truly enjoy being in the quiet. The highlight of the area for me were the trails. Long trails in two directions, really nice if you want solitude and a few hours walking in the pines with the sounds of the animals. I look forward to heading back in the near future... Thanks Billy

Had an excellent stay at Cut River Cabin! As someone who I went with said, it was the most cabin-y cabin they've ever stayed in. Area was absolutely beautiful in the winter, and was just the right amount of remote. Would definitely consider going back, at any time of year.

The cabin at Ricks was perfect inside & out. Everything you need for a beautiful secluded off grid experience. Excellent snow shoeing all over the property. He was very accommodating. Showed me around, helped get me acclimated & kept me stocked up with wood on the cold February nights. Will definitely be back.
