Partly run by a generator, heat will be supplied by a space heater that we would like turned down to 66 at night (heating blankets provided if that is too cold). . Bathroom has a composting toilet. (Usually changed every 3rd guest). Ac is hooked to an extension cord . We provide a Battery pump shower where you have to fill the bag with water & foot pump sink like used at festivals. The shack isn’t perfectly air tight so you might encounter a few bugs however with Chickens around they are natural bug exterminators. Ceiling height it just at 6 ft meaning those taller than that need to Duck under beams. Please beware. *summer info : Lake can only be viewed from the upstairs of shack due to tall reeds or by way of walking path which is still under construction partially handmade from scrap lumber . It’s about 2/3 complete with newly built dock, sections (see pics). The path is usually partially underwater until mid May so please check if you plan to kayak you will use at your own risk. *:It’s too mucky to swim right off shore but you can Kayak out to the swimming area. Kayak use is allowed as long as waiver is signed. Closed toed/water shoes recommended . Potential for 4 guests which is tight, or more if part of your crew wanted to set up a tent. *Fall/winter info: Use of our guest bathroom is permitted during colder months -just ask!. We also provide you with plenty of water for washing and drinking during your stay. As it is well water, you may want to take your own drinking water, if you prefer. We also have dishes, utensils, hot dog sticks, fry pie makers, pots and pans, a tripod grill for over the fire, and a small charcoal grill (bring your own charcoal). You will also want to bring a cooler to keep any food cold. Outside, we have a fire pit, wood to collect or purchase, and a hammock to fully enjoy your stay. Our bathroom is an outhouse and has been described as the “cleanest outhouse in Michigan.” Our latest addition is a seasonal rustic outdoor shower! We provide water that is heated by solar power (or you can heat some on the stove to hurry the process!) The shower is seasonal - only available from May to September. Within 1/4 mile is the St. Joe River which is a great place for kayaking. We also have kayaks and quads for rent. We also have some short trails on the property and a railroad bed adjacent to the cabin area. Our cabin is powered by a small and very quiet Honda generator. It is super easy to start. The cabin’s main source of heat is a wood stove with wood we provide. An air conditioner is provided for the summer. For more than two people will be an additional $10 per night per person. Pets are a $25 per pet additional fee. Pets are not to be on furniture and not to be taken into the loft for their protection.

We are 10 minutes from Alma and 20 minutes from Mt Pleasant. Lumberjack park is about 2 minutes away and Stearns preserve is about 5 mins away where you can walk or ride bike on a nice paved trail. We have a small garden that we plant every summer and plan to start a small farm stand this year. We are in a quiet area with lots of wildlife. We have 1 spot near the house with a view of the river that can support electric hook for a smaller RV and can attach a garden hose for water if needed. We do have a “field” that RVs can use but there is no hook up and there ground may not be level. We have many options for rustic tent camping along the river. No public restroom available. We can also provide some fire wood for campfires for a small cost. Along the river fires are allowed but must be contained in a fire ring. If camping by the field fires will be dependent on conditions. We have 3 kayaks and a canoe that can be used with prior consent. There is a park up river where you can put in and then can exit at our house which is about an hour on the river. We are very new to this and just purchased a UTV so we will be able to start making trails and clearing areas. But for now, camping along the river you will have to walk (and carry belongings) through tall grass to the site you desire. Quiet time 11 pm. Julie was a fantastic host! She checked in after our first night to see if we had everything we needed. We spent a weekend here as part of a greater road trip cross-country and we had a swell time. The views of the lake are gorgeous and the loft sleeping accommodations were super cozy! After we left we realized that we left some near and dear prized possessions (a special hat and one single ear bud) and Julie was kind enough to reach out and then mail these items to us! We are super thankful and do kindly recommend staying

Weekend Trip to Tiny Love Shack Off Grid Glamping

I really enjoyed my stay at Julie’s B52 “Love Shack.” My dog and I felt right at home. Julie provided everything we could need. The upstairs was so relaxing and peaceful. The outside grill and zero gravity chairs were perfect for enjoying a delicious meal and providing front-row seats to view the stars and moon. The outside shower was an experience and a first for me. I mistakenly thought I had put enough water in there, but ran out with my hair covered in shampoo. Luckily, I was able to rebound pretty quickly and enjoyed an ice-cold shower on an extraordinarily hot day for October. Overall, this place and space offered me exactly what I was looking for, and I look forward to revisiting it soon.

Earthwell is a wonderful place to unplug and immerse yourself in nature without feeling completely cut off from humanity. The retreat has charming, well-stocked cabins that felt cozy and homey. Firewood and amenities were thoughtfully provided. Outhouses were well-maintained and managed odor surprisingly well. The property itself is stunning: grass trails wind through meadows, forests, hills, and streams, with a pond perfect for paddling (canoes, kayaks, and a paddleboat are included). Wildlife is abundant- fish, frogs, and turtles in the pond; hawks, bats, and countless birds overhead; and even the distant calls of coyotes and foxes. The diversity of trees- walnut, oak, maple, and pines- made the terrain lush and vibrant. Nights brought a gorgeous starry sky and mornings offered beautiful sunrises. The host, Emily, was warm and welcoming while providing plenty of space. Chelsea, just ten minutes away, makes for an easy day trip or supply run, but you may never want to leave the property. Overall, Earthwell is a fantastic spot for several days of peaceful retreat and a place that captures the best of Pure Michigan.

We stayed at the tiny love shack for our yearly camping trip! We are a small family of 3 and it was perfect for us. We felt like we were in another land surrounded by cat-tails and nature. And chickens! 🐓 Julie had everything anyone would need to camp! All of the little details were so sweet and thoughtful. We had a fire for 3 days! We discovered that if you smolder fuzzy cattails it works as an insect repellant. Like insence. I even tried to weave a basket. We brought my dog and she loved sleeping in the cabin. This was our first time trying hip-camp and we will be using this app for all of our future family get aways!

Cute lil cabin feels pretty secluded has a nice lil fire pit. Upstairs loft bed was pretty comfortable ladder 🪜 could be a challenge to some to get up and down but overall not bad. We did take the kayaks out but the lake was pretty low so couldn't go out too far but still fun 😊 We would recommend staying here for the price it's definitely worth it.

Weekend Trip to EarthWell Retreat Center

We had such a great visit to EarthWell retreat! We absolutely loved our little rustic cabin and all the details made it so inviting and cozy. No need for electricity when they provide wireless fans and lanterns. The grounds are very well taken care of, the trails easy to walk and explore. The pond wasn’t too swimmable as it was later in the summer and the vegetation was high but we never felt that distracted from our weekend. Chelsea is close and has lots of options for food and shopping. Having the main house for charging and showers was a really nice extra benefit. We also fell in love with a very friendly kitty that came to visit us a few times. Overall, this is a great place to come and take a break from it all. Highly recommend!

Weekend Trip to Tiny Love Shack Off Grid Glamping

The shack is a beautiful little get away for couples, we had a great time and lots of stuff to entertain you for a few days around the area. I wouldn’t really suggest kayaking off the pier though, at least this time of year. Lily pad and muck makes it impossible to get to the beach area, seemed like lack of rain probably played a factor. It’s a beautiful place though and we had a great time.

Had a fantastic stay at the Tiny Love Shack! Julie was very responsive and easy to get ahold of. We ended up taking the kayaks out to the lake and it was so fun! The inside was clean and well taken care of. We slept super well; it was a nice, quiet area. We were in town for a small conference at MSU and it was super close by and easy to get to. Only about a 15 min drive from campus. Will definitely be back again!

There was an upstairs loft but I utilized the futon in the main area. Very homey!

I am very pleased with my stay. The cabin was tidy and very cute. The host was helpful and very responsive. I would recommend this stay to anyone and I would return again.
