Weekend Trip to Tree Huggers Haven

Weekend Trip to Ricky’s Pine River hunt/camp

First, Rick is an exceptional host. Second, the cabin is a quiet gem and the views are peaceful and beautiful. The care and consideration that has gone into the cabin is seen throughout and it continues into your stay. It is located within an hour of all the tourist type things you might want to do and you can retreat to the cabin or you can literally stay there and just soak up the joy of nature, truly unwinding in the setting. This weekend was exactly what we were looking for and honestly, Rick and his cabin (and Jack) made it successful!

3 nights at Bunkhouse in the Pines

Christine’s bunkhouse is perfectly located—just about 20 minutes from anything your heart desires in the Leelanau area, right in the middle of all the action. The bunkhouse and surrounding buildings were a great touch and made us feel right at home, with everything we needed. Cedar, MI is just down the road with a charming little downtown, a grocery/gas station, and an ice cream shop. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

Rick’s cabin is a hidden gem. I cannot recommend highly enough. It’s a cute, quiet, thoughtfully curated getaway at an unbeatable price. He has in that space a ton of thoughtful amenities (nicely chopped firewood at a fire pit with grates for cooking over, headlamp to find your way around at night, 2 propane camp stoves, a car battery with a socket and 2 usb ports, bug spray-I could go on). And he completely leaves you alone for total privacy. The deck looks out on a sweet little wooded scene, and the outhouse is super clean. Definitely worth checking out.

Rick’s cabin was incredible decorated and came stocked with all utensils and cookware needed. The fire pit was incredible and there was so much fire wood for us to use. The cabin is also very close to Cadillac which made going out to dinner and groceries a short trip! We also loved getting greeted by Rick’s dog, Jackson.

We take pride in a clean bath house, and want everyone to have a great time at our campground. Sometimes it's crazy booked up and other times it may just be you. Feel free to ask any questions you may have and we will answer them as soon as we can. We look forward to meeting lots of new faces and hopefully starting family traditions for you and yours. We have spacious sites that are all different shapes and sizes. Depending on the site it may have 20/30/50 amp service depending on the site. There are currently only three that have 50 amp service. Also some sites have a septic hookup. Water fill station is located near the bathhouse. There is a private dump station also available for use just ask.

Red Barn Cabin

**Update** We have updated our cabin and now offer "Glamping". We do allow you to also set up to two tents outside (no additional charge). If you have other guests that would like to bring in a camper, you can do that for an additional charge. The cabin includes a cozy full size bed, living space with couch (folds out to a twin bed), chair, kitchen table and chairs, stove, refrigerator, microwave, Kuerig coffee maker, sink and bathroom with flush toilet. We also have an outdoor shower with hot water. The cabin is furnished with everything you need, plates, glasses, coffee cups, pots, pans, bath & kitchen towels, etc. We have also just added air conditioning and the cabin does have heat for those chilly spring & fall days. We have 60 acres with a mix of grassy fields, rolling terrain, food plots and wooded areas. There is two smaller ponds on site along with remote areas which are perfect for primitive tent camping away from the barn. You will have access to the entire 60 acres so feel free to explore and enjoy the wildlife. We have a century old barn on site, currently the barn is not available for use but we hope to renovate it in the future. Our property is perfect for taking those special family photos and the barn and terrain have been featured in many family backdrops. We are about a mile from the Scenic Pere Marquette River which is home to some fantastic fishing opportunities or spend the day paddling and exploring. There are also numerous lakes and streams within just a few miles and the beautiful Ludington Beach and State Park are within 20 minutes. The North Country Trail is nearby as well as numerous acres of public land with excellent hunting opportunities. We do have a fire pit, picnic table, charcoal grill as well as a patio table with 4 chairs & umbrella on site and we are adding to the site all the time. Come stay, play and relax in your own country oasis.

The rustic out-building has hot and cold water for the shower, double stainless sink and a counter to prepare meals on. The kitchen is appointed with two stainless steel pots, large cast iron frying pan, colander, cooking utensils, plates, bowls, cups, silverware, can opener, and metal hot dog/marshmallow skewers for campfire. Peaceful setting on 40 wooded acres that is located at the end of two county roads with virtually no traffic. Upon arriving at the property, you will enter through a gate and arrive to the secluded camp area with a beautiful, cozy full log cabin. *Please note the directions begin at the Shell Station (102 South Michigan Avenue, Manton, MI 49663) because the cabin doesn't have a physical address.* We're happy to meet you and guide you right to it! The cabin has propane lighting, propane refrigerator, an antique stove with burner tops, and a free-standing propane gas stove for crisp evenings. There is a small kitchen area with a sleeping loft above and a sitting/family area at the far end of the cabin. The kitchen is equipped with pots and pans, coffee pot, dishes, and misc. utensils. *Please bring your own linens, pillows, and water. On the backside of the cabin, you'll find a peaceful sitting area with a firepit. When nature calls, there is a well-built outhouse that is available. There is also a large outdoor shower with heated water and a dressing area. There are trails that meander through the property for those who enjoy walking, biking, snowmobiling, or four wheeling. You won't find a more peaceful, tranquil property to relax in and enjoy the wildlife. Only 1.3 miles into Manton with several bars and restaurants. Within 3 miles you are able to gain access to State property, the Manistee River, and Chase Creek. From the trails in this area you can go as far as Houghton Lake and Fife Lake. Great area for hunting, fishing, four wheeling, dirt bikes, and hiking. This is a great getaway you don't want to miss out on!
