This is a warm and cozy space, just perfect for relaxing. There is a bookcase full of books on a variety of subjects, from escape reading to serious philosophical essays, and the water is on view 24/7. This camper was gutted and redone for a fun and whimsical living space. It now has a "fair" weather outdoor space which will include a table for 6 and a fire pit. But, bring your chairs and sit outside to relax and take in the sounds of nature and well: some pigs, chickens, donkeys, goats, sheep, etc. Lots of space to bring some tents and friends as well as horseboarding options for those who are passing through or want to ride the beach with their horses. Weekend Trip to Private Farm House w lake
We can't recommend the Farmhouse enough!!! A refreshing swimming lake and nature all to ourselves. Peaceful but with all the creature comforts of a soft bed, full kitchen, and WiFi :) The space is large enough that everyone could do what they wanted. We fed the goats, gathered some eggs, hiked the woods, paddled and swam in the lake, then we had drinks in the screened in patio. Bug free! We did not regret a second of our visit.

The house was so cute a cozy. It is a real house with electricity, internet, TV, dvd player, and Netflix, a full kitchen, and the bathroom is right beside the upstairs bedroom. The view from the bed in the morning was a beautiful huge tree in the field. Down the hill is a very large pond. I can see a float and canoes that would be great in the summer. There is a huge pavilion beside the lake with couches, a long table, chairs, a grill, and a refrigerator. There are two outside RV toilet stalls at the lake too. When I drove in I saw horses in a field and a little donkey running around, playing in a a pen. I stopped and watched. Close to the house they have goats in a pen and they wanted me to pat them. The owner, Maria, told me I could. She also has a pig and chickens. I enjoyed the solitude but this place would be wonderful for a family outing or corporate retreat. I forgot a few things, so Maria directed me to a nearby Walmart in Tappahannock. I highly recommend a stay at Maria's farm.

Only stayed one night as we were traveling through for a baseball game in Baltimore but we would 100% stay again, we had a nice quiet spot near the back of camp with plenty of room as tent campers. Bathrooms/showers were only a few steps away. Everyone was so nice and welcoming and made us feel safe and right at home. ☺️

This is a one of a kind site, situated on a point with 180 degree water views of the Wye River. We spent our mornings watching the Watermen working their crab lines while the sun rose over the water. Our evenings consisted of watching the fish break the water as the sun went down across the river, watching the dogs swim and then drinks by the fire pit. It was private, quiet, serene and perfect. So many people on these sites say “we’ll be back!” yet rarely do. We’re already planning our next weekend at the same spot.

This was a beautiful site, private, host was able to provide wood for a reasonable fee. They also checked in after one night to make sure all was ok. We will definitely return with a boat in hopes to catch some Wye River Crabs! We are only 30 minutes away which is another advantage for us.

Weekend Trip to Circe The Airstream
We had such a wonderful stay at the Circe! It was such a lovely getaway for slow mornings, sipping on coffee, reading and enjoying the views. Our favorite thing to do was cook dinner and eat outside under the stars. Mark was a great host and Colonial Beach is just 4 minutes away. We will definitely be back again!

PERFECT!!! Is the only word I can use to describe this site!! We LOVED all the farm animals. The camper was clean, quiet, and well stocked! Waking up and seeing horses was the best factor! We even got to feed them!!! Kelly, Sean and everyone else on the farm were sweethearts! We will most definitely be coming back! Make sure you watch the competition if there is one while you're there! Our favorite was the white Pony in the petting farm!! But the cats were so friendly along with the dogs once they got used to you. Everything about this place was amazing! We will be back for sure

Weekend Trip to Maryland Health Society
The cabin was so comfortable and exactly what I needed. I spent probably half of my weekend enjoying the bug-free front porch, listening to music (and playing!), and just having a totally empty brain. The people, though - they really made the stay! I was welcomed into conversations as though I'd been part of the community for years. There was room to explore! The pool was a welcome surprise - I only say that because I'm not much of a pool guy. This was where folks gathered to talk, read, snack... whatever! What a wonderful community!

We had the best time at MAHESO! Nice shady spot near a trailhead. If you go when it’s busy, be aware that you are camping very close to other campers. We had one night where the campground was full and the rest where we were the only campers. Even when the campground was full, everyone was so friendly, that it felt like a nice community. The pool is awesome and everyone makes you feel very welcome and comfortable. Lots of lovely places to hike and cute little cabins to admire. Clean (single person) bathroom and a pretty well outfitted kitchen if you need to use that as well. We loved our stay and will definitely be back.

MAHESO has a wonderful property. The people are so welcoming. Great trails in the woods with access to a relaxing creek. The pool is amazing. The clubhouse is excellent with access to an upgraded kitchen. I would highly recommend visiting.

This place is a rustic gem. If you are looking for something less busy than a country club setting, then this is the place for you. They have ample space for camping, outdoor showers, clean bathrooms and a fantastic communal kitchen in the main club house. Several hiking trails and attractions fill the property. And most importantly, all the staff were friendly and accommodating!

We had such a wonderful stay at The Agape! The property is quiet, peaceful, and beautifully maintained. Shawna, the host, was incredibly gracious—she even laid out firewood for us ahead of our arrival, which was such a thoughtful touch. The site was spotless and easy to settle into.
The sunrises and sunsets here are absolutely stunning, with plenty of serene coastline to explore. It’s the kind of place that naturally invites you to slow down and enjoy the moment. While there is a small shooting range nearby, it was sporadic and didn’t last long—maybe about an hour—and it wasn’t loud enough to disturb the birds or the calm vibe of the property.
I’m already planning to return in the fall—those views will be breathtaking with the foliage. Highly recommend this spot if you’re looking to unplug and soak in some peace and beauty.
