Great synchronicity led us to the wild 30 acres of marsh and woodland that is Turtle Marsh. In addition to making a home here, we dedicating the area as a sanctuary for the quiet enjoyment of nature, eco-spiritual practices and healing. We are now recognized by the World Wildlife Fund as a Certified Wildlife Habitat. We have trails on the property that are designed for contemplative walks, along with several benches where you can sit in quiet enjoyment, undisturbed by human intrusions. There are several trailheads for the Hills to Sea Trail within a mile of our property. The quintessential New England waterfront town of Belfast on Penobscot Bay, is less than 30 minutes away. One of our favorite spots for quiet hikes along the shore of the bay, is Sears Island. It is one of the largest undeveloped islands on the east coast, that is connected to the mainland by a causeway. The island is 50 minutes away and even on the busiest summer days, its's usually possible to find a quiet spot on the shore to sit and reflect. As we continue to deepen our relationship with this land, we are trying to follow the principles of Deep Ecology in all of our interactions. Our tentsites, while only a 5 minute walk from the road, have been sited to offer as much solitude as possible, with minimal disruption to the surroundings. For 2025 we are opening a new site. It is a little more secluded, 2-3 minutes further from the road in a very quiet wooded niche, at the edge of the marsh. It is also a little smaller tent (10' diameter) situated on a platform, and a little more "camping" than "glamping". We are pricing the stay there according. In spite of being nestled in the woods, no trees were cut to prepare these relatively accessible sites. We believe that they still offer a very tangible sense of wildness and solitude. 7 nights at Turtle Marsh- secluded wooded site.

Really unique and amazing stay, can't recommend this place enough! Learned about three medicinal mushrooms that grow on the property through the walks with Peter and Willie. Some neat evidence of beaver activity was spotted as well. You can hear barn owls in the evening. If you did get any rain or wind while there it's rather pleasant. Was nice to know if you do need anything the cabin and Peter were a short walk away. I even got Peters book which I can't wait to read!

Weekend Trip to Turtle Marsh- secluded wooded site.

Due to impending weather, we had to change our plans and make a last minute booking. The site was perfect for us. The property is beautiful with a network of small trails crisscrossing it. The site is peaceful and private, and even during a significant downpour we were able to stay dry in the canvas bell tent. Peter is everything you could want in a host. He went out of way to be helpful, he's friendly, genuine, and responsive to communication, while still respecting his guests space and privacy. Plus his dog is the best! We would highly recommend staying here.

Weekend Trip to Turtle Marsh- secluded wooded site.

Turtle Marsh hipcamp is exactly as pictured, serene and beautiful, nestled in the woods. I particularly enjoyed falling asleep to the frog song from the marsh! I stayed here after a concert at the Waterville Opera House and found it very easy. Peter has very thoughtfully placed reflectors on several trees for those arriving at night. And while it rained during my stay, the bell tent kept me dry as a bone. What a luxury!!!

We had an amazing time camping over Memorial Day weekend. Peter was very nice and his dog Willie is so cute. It’s the perfect place to get away and enjoy nature. The birds sound really beautiful during the day and the stars are so bright at night! It’s very cozy and I highly recommend going
