It started years ago my sister and I stayed in a yurt at a campground in Oregon. That was it. I was hooked so I got one. There is something magical about staying in a round structure in the trees. My love of nature and comfort drove me to create this special place to be able to share it with others. My TreeYurt is a platform built high in the trees so it essentially like a treehouse but with a yurt instead. It is located in the back part of my property surrounded by woods. In the spring there is a small stream running nearby. The land is somewhat sloped yet comfortable. There are apple orchards nearby and many hiking trails a short distance away as well as Portland a mere 15 minutes. The kitchenette has a small fridge a toaster oven a coffee maker a cook top with two burners pots pans utensils plates and bowls and kitchen towels as well a propane grill outside. There is a wood stove for heating in the winter as well as a monitor heater that makes it very cozy for chilly nights. The yurt is insulated so it is a great year round glamping (glorified camping) adventure. I provide fire some wood for the wood stove inside but the camp fire wood for the outdoor fire pit is $8 per bundle. The outhouse has a dry flush toilet and instructions at located in the yurt and out house. There is seasonal running hot and cold water (May through October) for the outdoor sink which is available for use for dishwashing and a bit of cleaning up. Also an outdoor shower is available for use May through October and biodegradable soaps and shampoo are provided. My step Dad Bob ‘discovered’ the island in the 1970’s when he was escaping the rat race and looking to get ‘back to the land’. Over the course of three years he built the island house by floating cedar logs across the bay, using a come-along to bring the up to the land, debarked and prepped them for building and set about constructing his off-grid, solar powered home. All without power tools. Both my Mom and Bob were ardent environmentalists and peace advocates. We are off the beaten path in the forest near the White Mountain National Forest. A 6 to 8 minute hike from your site gets you to a private lake. We have two local waterfalls only 2 miles away. Drive back out to 5 Kezars road. Take a right on the paved road. It will turn back into dirt. Keep on this road until you see a beautiful stone house on your left. Keep going just up the hill and you will see a right turn into the woods where you can park. There are no signs for Kezar gorge. Hike towards the sound of the falls. There is a small cave under the falls you can climb up into if you are a strong swimmer. There is a second set of falls if you hike down the river. A most magical spot for sure. There is a beautiful hike to a mountain lookout view of an amazing panoramic of lakes and mountains including Mt Washington and Pleasant Ski mountain right from your site. It is a lovely spot just off the beaten path but close enough to access the frey. :) I welcome my guests personally and have likely had a chat before you booked. I like to know what your hopes and priorities are around your stay before I accept so I can meet both of our needs. When you arrive, I will greet you and share a little history/tour of the place. I accept travelers between 4 and 9 pm but like all of us schedules fluctuate and we can roll some. There's a strong chance on an average Maine clear summer evening, I have the campfire going and the solar lights around the yard are charged for their evening gentle show. All of the spaces I rent are bedrooms only. You walk a few steps/yards to my 5 bedroom home and access two showers and some kitchen use. I also have an outdoor shower and outdoor kitchen that is cute and for your use. It's fun to cook on the fire too! I prefer folks to limit cooking esp in hot weather but support healthier eating and may share some of my foraging tips. The rooms are equipped with plenty of linens and fan power. You will be cozy either way the temps go. There is a lovely porch on the log home where you can sit and enjoy the sunset and lots of wildlife activity. The back yard has tether ball and lots of seating as well as the good sized fire pit with ghosts of hundreds of fireside chats gone by. I look forward to ours! Next door there is a gravel road on a lightly traveled road for your walking or biking pleasure. I am happy to join you in a hilly roller coaster cycling experience and have a few bikes to offer up. I am a WWOOF host and have occasional "helpers" and you are welcome to explore my veggie and flower gardens. This host loves board games and crafts so is often ready to share either or both with guests. There are 150 acres around me that are wooded and pathed so your pup will love it too. A sweet cabin! My elderly sister and I enjoyed this wonderful off-grid experience! The fire pit is built from giant rocks from an old nearby mine! Bring what you'll need for light, a camp stove, and bedding, though the host has provided everything else you'll need. My pups loved it too! Not one bark all night.

Sarah was an amazing host! She took care of everything and answered all my questions and is just a peach to talk with. Everyone on the property was very kind. The cabin was just what we needed and affordable to the everyday family which I really appreciated. The pond was lovely and we enjoyed every moment. Thanks for helping us build great lasting memories we hope to come back soon. Great location, great people, great vibe.

Your site includes a fire pit area right out front. There is also chairs provided.

We love it here, 5th year in a row that we have been. The site is private and right on the sandy beach. Host is friendly and accommodating. Also the porta potty is the cleanest I have ever been in! Our family can't wait to return!

Beautiful location. Kids and I watched eagles and loons, hung out by the fire, and swam. I’m glad we brought camp chairs and lanterns for additional seating and bedroom lights.

3 nights at Island View At Kiwanis Beach

It’s a peaceful spot right on the beach. So many amenities that if there are just two of you all you really need is food, clothes, toiletries and bed linens. Loons, eagles and morning song of mix of birds. Water is so clear and the swim area well protected. Only drawback was some road noise which I clued into intermittently. I traveled with teens and they all enjoyed themselves immensely. Bring outdoor games - there is lots of room to play.

2 nights at Tir na nOg Farm

We had such a lovely experience here! Our first time camping as a family with kids, we knew we wanted something magical. Getting to watch the animals during the day, and having the cozy hobbit hole to return to after a great day of adventuring... It was wonderful! The farmers were so kind and very very helpful. We would be happy to return again!

Visit our Remote cabin with all the comforts of home. Cook dinner on the fire pit and then relax and enjoy the warm glow of the lights and look at the stars.

2 nights at BrandiLee Woods at the Woolley farm

This was our second trip to the sunrise cabin. The charm of this quaint spot cannot be overstated. We enjoyed the tranquil atmosphere, which always comes with the bonus of sheep, which visit in the evenings. The host was friendly as always. If you tire of relaxing by the fire or reading a book, there are plenty of swimming and paddling opportunities nearby, as well as dining. The Sunrise Cabin is a perfect spot to relax and unwind.

Glamping at Island View is one of our favorite vacation destinations. It’s always clean. And so convenient to have lanterns and a Coleman stove with propane provided. Canoeing across the lake for ice cream, gazing into the fire at night and listening to the loons are some of the things that make it special.

Weekend Trip to Shaky Barn Farm

We enjoyed our stay at Shaky Barn VERY much! The views on the way down to the campsite from the barn are breath taking. It is very private and quiet. We felt very comfortable and safe. It is also super dog friendly, we have a reactive dog and could enjoy every moment of our vacation, not worrying about running into anyone. I highly recommend sitting in the field when it is dark out and looking at the stars. The light pollution is very minimal and you can spend hours just star gazing. I would definitely come back again!

Weekend Trip to BrandiLee Woods at the Woolley farm

We booked this stay at the last minute, and it turned out to be one of the best weekends we’ve ever had. The farm is beautifully natural, peaceful, and full of amazing animals. We stayed in the Pasture View Tent, and it had everything we could have needed. The bed was comfortable, with fresh, clean sheets and towels. The tent was thoughtfully stocked with pots and pans, utensils, grill tools, wine glasses, cups, salt and pepper, paper towels, and so many little extras. It honestly had more amenities than many hotel rooms! The outhouse was absolutely adorable, and we even enjoyed taking an outdoor shower, which made the whole experience even more special. The owners are some of the kindest and most welcoming hosts we’ve ever met. Sandi took the time to introduce us to all of the animals, let us help feed them, shared wonderful stories, and even gave us the opportunity to brush and sit on a horse for the first time in our lives. It was such a memorable experience. Brian is an incredibly talented carpenter, and his craftsmanship can be seen throughout the property—from the covered bridge and charming trail light posts to the sauna, cabin, and beautifully built tents. His attention to detail truly adds to the magic of the farm. Thank you, Sandi and Brian, for making our stay so memorable. We left with wonderful memories and can’t wait to come back!

4 nights at Island View At Kiwanis Beach

Returned for the second year in a row. We love coming here, it's so relaxing and right on the lake. We picked some wild blueberries that were in the campsite and made blueberry pancakes for breakfast. Sarah was a great host. We will definitely be back next year.
