Avinger Station RV Park The History of the Station Established in 1876 as a Railroad Depot Avinger Station operated as such until the mid 20th century. After being put out to pasture, the depot was rescued from oblivion as a barn and brought back to Avinger in 1998. It was moved to a more prominent location near its original site in June of 2021 after pondering how the depot might serve the community once again. A dumpster is available for bagged trash. •A sewer hose "donut" or "L" connector is required. •Campfires are allowed only in fire pits or grills that are raised and contain the fire. Breeo fire pits and grills are available for rent. •The code for use of the bridge (laundromat, bath, and exercise room) must not be given out to anyone of your party. •Children under 12 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian while outside your RV at all times. •Only 2 pets are allowed per RV and must not disturb other guests. Pets outside must be on leash, under control, and not left unattended. Pet owners are responsible to immediately picl up after their pets. Plastic bags and bins are available for waste. •Use of generations is prohibited, expect during a power storage. •Washing or changing oil of vehicles in the park is prohibited. •Smoking is prhohibited inside avinger station's depot (office, cafe, and museum) and bridge (laundromat, bath, and exercise room.) •Do unto othere as you would have them do unto you. Come enjoy beautiful Lake Bistineau! We are located in a cove with access to the main channel. We have a boat launch on the property for guests to use. The dock is off limits, but you are welcome to fish from the shoreline or bring your own boat/kayak/canoe to launch from our boat launch. From about end of July - February, they drain the lake and you will not be able to launch a boat with a vehicle. You can still get access to the water with a canoe or kayak by walking but the boat launch will not be usable. Lake Bistineau has a Salvania problem, so during March - June, the water is usually pretty clear, good for fishing, swimming and boating. Mid-June and July, there could be enough salvania to make fishing by the shore and swimming not good. During this time, we recommend you have some way to reach deeper water by boat/canoe/kayak/pirouge to enjoy better fishing and swimming. You will see examples of the salvania in the picutres posted.

This was my fourth stay at avinger station. It's a well kept park. There are two levels the top level which are all pull through sites has no shade, but I've stayed in #4 three times. The bottom level has lots of shade and I stayed in #10 this time. It's probably the smallest site. If you stay Wed-Sun make sure you eat at the catfish place next door.

Phildon was super communicative wven when not on site. Recommended a perfect available pitch and answered all questions quickly. My tip would be to aak for WiFi password before arrival as we had zero signal with Verizon and had to drive out to get supplies and a signal. We did not use the bathrooms or laundry facilities so cannot comment on those. Hook up was 50 amps. Phildon had an 50-30 adaptor if required but we had our own. Lovely little spot in the Bayou.

Great location in a beautiful country area. Lots of shade and quiet road. I found the circle drive easy to maneuver for parking. Both elect and water hook up available. Clear directions, comfortable setting, great host communication and very reasonable price, close to amenities. It's probably not a good area to off-leash a dog since it's close to a road and no fencing but location was very close to a nice and spacious dog park.

Nice quiet out of the way campsite with several spots to choose from. Sit and watch the lazy water drift by on the bayou as you listen to the frogs from the backwater creek. This was a peaceful stop for us and the host was accommodating, helpful, and informative. There is a shower house and laundry as well as WiFi, and full hook ups. We highly recommend this site. Easily fit a 35 foot rig. It was surprisingly easy to get to.

Thanksgiving weekend, our first Hipcamp stay. The site is as described and perfect for our visit. Not having sewer hookups is a non-issue if you manage water usage. There is a CEFCO gas station a few miles south on hwy 259 that has an rv dump station for a small fee. We did not meet the host but she was quick to respond to our emails. This was my second stay at Avinger RV Park. I love the size of the park. I think there are only 14 sites on the property. There are plenty of pull through sites. It is very clean and the full time RVers keep their site clean. There is a weight room, bathroom with shower and FREE washers and dryers. They are renovating the station. I'm sure it will be beautiful once it's complete.
