Welcome to Big Branch Apiary, a 50 acre honey and blueberry farm north of Lake Pontchartrain. We're bounded by the Big Branch Wildlife Reserve to the south and a Rails to Trails bike path on the north. We are 3 miles from Lacombe to the east, 4 miles from Mandeville to the west, about 3 miles from Fountainbleu State Park, and an hour from New Orleans. Most of the farm is a mix of hardwood forest and wetlands. Desert Bayou and East Branch Bayou meander across the property. The farm has deer, foxes, bobcats, owls, fireflies, otters, raccoons, turtles, and, well, about anything common to the wilds of the Gulf South. This includes a litany of snakes, mosquitoes, and deer flies in season. About 8 acres are used to raise poultry, bees and organically farmed blueberries. Overall, the land feels primordial and pristine. We are a designated Monarch Waystation and in the spring and fall see many migrating butterflies. We cultivate a lot of flowers so almost year round you can see butterflies in profusion. We are part of the USDAs Conservation Stewardship Program, concentrating on protecting and increasing habitat for animals and pollinators. Pets are welcome but please leash them. Campfires are allowed except on rare occasions. You can hunt for deadfalls in the woods on the farm, or we can provide firewood for a small fee. Our honey, fresh eggs, and homemade sourdough can be purchased as well. This is a rustic situation: think dry camping, outdoor (heated) shower, and outhouses. We have a tiny treehouse, an A-frame, a glamping tent, and several places to pitch a tent. The farm is pretty secure--someone is on-site most of the time, it's gated, and there are security cameras at access points. But it is a farm in a rural community--you may hear roosters crow, sheep bleat, dogs bark, and the sounds of owls, hawks, coyotes, and other native wildlife. Overall, the experience was delightful. I was able to pull my little camper right next to the pond and enjoy the serene view over the landscape. I enjoyed fishing in the pond and caught multiple nice size bass and a catfish, and relaxing. My son enjoyed riding his bike on the path around the pond, playing on the playset, and feeding the alpacas. Had a great time, the host was excellent, and would definitely visit again.

We had a magnificent stay! We booked at the very last second because our previous reservation fell through suddenly - and it was a blessing in disguise! This property is so big and full of adventures and projects to look at. Special shout-out to the fishing pond!! My friends and I barely know anything about fishing and we discovered a lifelong hobby!!! The hosts were also incredibly kind & patient & generous with their time/care. From the moment we arrived it felt warm & comfortable. Also the farm dogs are so so so so lovable. We actually miss them - Mo will play fetch for hours and bring you cool trinkets ❤️

We arrived Friday & had a fun time till we left Sunday. The property, the pond, & Ms. Erica were great. Ms. Erica even helped us out with some extra sleeping bags when the night time temps dropped lower than expected. Such a great time! Alicia was a great host. Her husband CJ was friendly from the start and answered our questions. Lovely campground area. Sites are far away enough to feel private but close enough if we needed anything. Bathroom is convenient. Quiet and peaceful, we didn’t mind the early rooster crow and it’s probably not heard unless you’re closer to the animals. We didn’t want to leave. Looking forward to next time! :)

5 nights at Magic River Campground

It has several sites that are good size to the right as you go in. Sign says park yourself and let them know which site. There are 5 sites to the left that are tight. As no one was there we parked in one of those sites. Gravel site was very unlevel but electric, water and sewer worked well. Was quiet where we were. Note: last site does not have sewer.

They're small but nice bathroom facility worked well for somebody without a bathroom in their camper. It was clean and rarely used. A real bonus in this kind of Campground. Very reasonable!

Weekend Trip to Magic River Campground

It was lovely. I was worried aboot lack of peace because it was near 2 highways, but it was super peaceful. Didn’t hear any vehicles. I saw deer and squirrels several times the few nights I stayed. There was plenty of space to walk around and explore. I loved that my dogs were able to be free once we were on trails away from others. The host was great, very helpful and kind. It’s a very safe place. They love their community, (something similar to what I’ve been aligning with- soul tribe eco-village). I really did love and appreciate the 5 mile speed limit, even if I had to keep remembering it. The slimy/residue feeling on my skin from the shower/sink I assume is soft water and would take some getting used to. All was great.

9 nights at Big Branch Apiary

The location is such a wonderful and beautiful place to relax with your family and enjoy good company. The buzzing of bees, birds singing (and roosters crowing) and the quiet bleating of sheep are the only sounds you will hearing while sitting in the shade next to your beautiful canvas tent. Definitely many wonderful memories made. Thank you for letting us enjoy your beautiful property ❤️

Weekend Trip to Creekside Farm Co.

Absolute perfection! Tremendous hospitality, gorgeous sites, quiet (besides the occasional rooster), it’s a secret paradise. My wife, my six-year-old, and myself camped for two nights, hiked up the beautiful stream, played with the dogs, gazed at the stars, and just took it easy. The people that live there are tremendous company, and we will certainly be back. Everything is clean and everyone was considerate and fun. Bathroom and kitchen worked great. Highest possible recommendation, but don’t tell anybody ha ha
