This was our first HipCamp experience and we had a great weekend! The themed trailers were very cute and it was so nice to have a/c during the hot summer but still feel like your camping. The location was perfect for exploring the area, and the hosts are cool VW people so we felt right at home.

2 nights at HAYMARK FARMSTAYS Private RV Sites

The property was absolutely gorgeous. Beautiful sunsets. Rolling green fields. You will probably be visited by some cattle as they wander and graze, along with an adorable herd of little goats. The drive way is long, winding and hilly but worth it to get back at the edge of the open fields. The hosts were very sweet and accommodating. I wish we could have stayed longer!

2 nights at Plantasia Homestead at Anglin Falls

I loved camping on Phil's land and would definitely recommend it to others. The tent platform was great, and we loved that there was spring water pumped directly to the campsite. The campsite and bathroom were both clean and well kept, and felt like a safe location. Phil was very welcoming and helpful to us when we arrived. My partner and I enjoyed seeing all the animals on the property, and loved watching the millions of fireflies light up the trees and meadow across from the campsite.

Creek Peek is a very spacious site and feels secluded despite being just a short walk into the woods. We especially enjoyed the shade and ambiance of the creek! I had a wonderful stay tent camping on the electrical stage. The shade provided by the roof, flat ground, and three walls surrounding my tent made for a perfect site to set everything up! Having outlets on the walls at this site was a really nice added perk. This hosts land is very nicely maintained, they provided wonderful amenities such as Porta potties, spigot water, a fire pit, an indoor toilet, and a hot water shower. The communication was great. Detailed directions to the property were sent to me before my arrival, and any questions I had were answered clearly and promptly. Given the easy and short 15 minute drive to city and the amazing experience I had while staying here, I will definitely be back again when visiting Lexington!

3 nights at Farm and Forest

Perfect camping location to visit Lexington. Only 15 minutes from Rupp arena, but secluded on a farm. Worth noting that our site in particular was a great option if you do not need power. While the grass was tall during our visit, it was out of the control of the host as Kentucky had non-stop storms for the preceding week. The entire state had tall grass during our visit, so we were not surprised and nothing an outdoor rug didn't solve. We are only the third review on this particular site (Water with a View) but I would recommend it. It is very private. While the description may give you the impression you are on the road, you are really about 150 yards away. Not only that, there is a bank of trees right by your site giving you privacy. We really didn't even notice the road. There was plenty of space for us (18 ft RV) and the double farm gates makes it very easy to pull in and out. Truly, if visiting downtown Lexington or catching an event at Rupp Arena, you will not find a better option for camping/RVing.

Weekend Trip to Fire pit creek side

This place checked all the boxed for us. I brought my 7 yo here and he was able to play in the creek and catch crawdads while I set up camp. Then, I helped him catch some crawdads, and we eventually took a dip in the bigger creek, which was refreshing on a very hot day. The site was also shady and private--you can see a house up on a hill if you walk onto the bridge, but it isn't close enough to see people clearly. The host was very responsive. Remember to turn your phone off of roaming (or heck, just turn it off), as it will drain the battery when you are in camp. I got service once I was back up on the road. I would come back here again, for sure.

2 nights at Handyland

Our host, Josh Handy, was terrific. The location is a renovated pop up camper which he fashioned with wood from his grandfather’s 200 year old barn when it was torn down. It has an open barn about 30 yards away with very nice restroom facilities, H/C shower and an outdoor kitchen. The land itself comprises part of a farm with both open meadow and wooded trails. Perfect for travelers and dogs. Highly recommended!

We arrived late which was a bummer because Josh has an amazing setup! He had a place for us to sit and eat along with grill. He had a fire pit with a bench. It was the perfect setup! The bathroom and shower were super clean! After we arrived we got setup with our tent and we just stared out the ceiling because the stars were breathtaking. Did I mention my dog loved it there too? Because he did! I walked him in the morning and he loved every bit of it. 10/10 highly recommend!

2 nights at Serenity Camp

We had such a great camping experience. My son and I hammock camped while on a motorcycle road trip. We were able to stay in a newly built pavilion on top of a hill. It was so nice since a large storm rolled through during the first night. Because of it, we and our gear, were able to stay dry without any rain tarps. The property is very close to Natural Bridge SP and the RRG area. We had a really great time.

My family and I had a wonderful experience here! Sarah was so nice and the land is so gorgeous! Plenty of space for the kids to explore. Their garden is absolutely gorgeous and the creek at night was so lovely. The community kitchen was so clean! Loved that they had fresh farmed eggs both chicken and duck available! The outhouse was also clean. We will definitely be coming back!

The farm has a small playground, yard games, creeks, and a steep and rugged hiking trail that loops the mountain. We're also just 8 miles from the hiking trails at the Berea College Pinnacles, 8 miles to Owsley Fork Reservoir, 20 minutes to Anglin Falls, 12 miles to Berea, 35 minutes to Richmond, Ky, and a scenic hour to Red River Gorge. For other activities, restaurants, shopping, music, and more, we're happy to share our favorites, but highly recommend checking out the Berea Tourism website.

Red River Rewind- Hey Jude

Red River Rewind is a small glamping community that is themed off of the owner’s passion for different genre music, vintage, antique history and memorabilia. Currently still a work in progress, we offer a customized bell tent which sits on a 20 x 30 platform deck, with a customized, insulated, fully functioning outhouse which has a shower, commode, and sink that allows endless hot water. In progress, “Elvira” is our cozy small cabin currently still under construction. Both have electricity, and water, and full bathroom accessibility at their own site. “Hey Jude” also offers a small wood burning stove to accommodate for cooler temperatures with an Eden pure heater, and fans for warmer weather days. The customized fully furnished bathroom just steps away from the tent, offers endless hot water. There is also a water spicket just a few steps away from the deck. Note that should the wood stove want to be used, guests need to supply their own SMALL pieces of wood as it is a miniature fireplace. The cabin will be designed with a mini split heating and air system. WiFi is not currently available though an amenity that is upcoming in the future. Cell phone access is good in our area typically. Red River Rewind has common shared amenities to include: a 3/4 acre fully stocked pond which is available for simply viewing its beauty as the fountain flows, or catch and release fishing as seasonally available, many family and friend oriented activities to choose from to check out and return such as cornhole, large checkers, and many more. As time and weather permits, we plan to expand with really neat projects and extras in upcoming months, and would love to have visitors passing through our beautiful area who need or want a place to stay or locals who just want a little change of scenery. We are simple, ordinary people who just want to share some of the things we love about life with others. On a clear note, there are beautiful images of the stars here. You will also have accessibility to a telescope.

Consequently we cannot provide overnight accommodations except for animals needing lay-up, hospitalization, or overnighting. Parking, however, is available. Many years ago, this property was known as Cross Winds Farm due to the crosswinds coming in from all directions at times. After being sold twice, the purchasing owner renamed the farm Quail Run. Did you ever hear the superstition that renaming a farm can bring bad luck? It appears to be true in this instance, as the owner of Quail Run experienced several financial difficulties and the property eventually sold at auction. About 8 years later the property came up for sale again. It was at this point we purchased the land and built the farm and our home. In researching the history of the property, we came across the original name and decided to restore to original name. Learn more about this land: Enjoy the spectacular sunrises and sunsets from this working horse farm and veterinary hospitalization facility while sharing the rolling hills and hiking trails with nature. The stars have never appeared brighter without the light pollution found in more densely populated areas. You will pull in on a private gravel road which runs along top a ridge. Once you arrive at the horse barn, parking is very nearby and we will direct you where to pull in. We will park you in as level of a spot as we can for you. Depending on number of other RVers and first arrivals, your parking may be on a bit more of a slope. Please note, you will be parking in a grassy area and be prepared in the event mother nature were to decide to bring rain. Heavy amounts of rain coupled with a heavy rig could lead to difficulties pulling out if you aren't prepared ahead of time with the proper equipment. We are happy to provide a tour of our Equine facility and what we do here. Depending on case load, we may or may not have hospitalized cases at any given time.

Primitive Camping Retreat

Mawhe Acres Camping Retreat has two primitive camp sites just inside the tree line of an open field, each with a 16' x 16' crushed limestone pad for tents. Each campsite has a picnic table, fire ring and access to a compost toilet (in outhouse). There is no potable water or electric. However, for a nominal fee, we can provide a water hose to the campsite. There's easy access with the ability to drive through the field to the campsite or guests can walk in with their gear from driveway. We're fine with car camping too - we just want to keep things as natural as possible. Mawhe Acres - a 25 acre farm, much of which is raw land and woods in their natural state, undeveloped and not farmed for decades - is an official National Wildlife Federation® (NWF) Certified Wildlife Habitat™ site. NWF recognizes our commitment to sustainably providing the essentials of wildlife habitat - natural sources of food, water, cover and places to raise young. The abundant wildlife around includes deer, squirrels, red foxes, turkeys, chipmunks, groundhogs, raccoons, opossums, woodpeckers, owls, and birds of prey (mostly red-tailed hawks and vultures). We have a small lake with good fishing and acres of woods to explore. There are some footpaths for easier walking. We want to share our beautiful land for our guests to enjoy taking in the sights and sounds of the forest which can help you relax. In fact, it’s possible that time in the great outdoors can boost both your mental and physical health. For example, the science on "forest bathing" (also called "forest therapy") makes a convincing argument that spending time communing with nature can improve stress, anxiety and depression. Camping Along the Old Bison Trail

Peaceful Secluded Campsites are what you want. Several beautiful settings will be what you get and much much more. Our campsites lie along the Old Buffalo Trace, the name given by early pioneers to the massive trail left by centuries of migrating bison that traveled right through this property. Making their way between salt and mineral licks along the Ohio and Kentucky Rivers, these herds were part of the plentiful wild game which was the reason so many local native tribes referred to old "Cain-tuk-ee" as their "Happy Hunting Ground". Our 7 campsites are constructed on "The Old Coates Homestead" where we make our home in the original 1858 Homestead house which we recently restored and where we make our delicious gourmet foods. The vehicle accessible sites range from sites for one tent, pop up or van campers, to our featured site "Thistledown Gathering Place" which a large group size setting great for scouting trips, church groups, multi-family camping and parties of up to 16 people. Each site has a fire ring, fire wood is available for purchase, we offer clean and well maintained portable toilets, municipal drinking water, hiking trails, and lots and lots of wildlife to help you commune with the absolute beauty of this peaceful farm named Steepleview Farm (learn more here: www.steepleviewfarm.com). We have recently acquired a collection of log cabins for a true to life, historic reenactment staycation. We are fortunate that one of the cabins was the frontier church known as "Shilo Baptist Church" from 1830-1840. The pastor of this church baptized Abraham Lincoln's father and is credited with having changed his attitudes toward ending slavery. Our hiking trails and nature trails bring you lots of knowledge, peace, shade, cool breezes and you can bring your horse (no motorized recreational vehicles) oh and lots of wildlife viewing. Here are a few of our featured campsites: REDBUD MEADOW: Our first campsite used by hundreds of people over the years. A secluded lawn in the midst of redbud trees, easy to drive to and from with a pile of firewood and a metal fire ring. The premier site on our property. THE BAPTISMAL POND: As history goes the pond in front of this site was used in the 1800's for baptisms for the church visible from everywhere on the farm, thus our name. This is a tent site, easy to drive into and out of, fires permitted in season. THISTLEDOWN GATHERING PLACE: This is a very large meadow, surrounded by trees with the capacity for large groups, many tents and gatherings of lots of people. Very level, easy in and out with vehicles. Fires permitted in season. WHITETAIL SANCTUARY: Every night for decades a herd of whitetail deer graze in this pastoral setting. Drive in and out, fires in season. Suitable for a family sized tent. THE PENNINSULA: This camping spot is WALK IN ONLY. You can drive to the trailhead on grass and walk the path to the campsite (about 200 yards). One of two remote sites. It sits in the woods, on the bank of a wet weather creek which flows around two sides of the campsite. Fires permitted in season. TOTEM TREES: This site is WALK IN ONLY. A short hike down the hill from the grass parking area and you have a small spot for a tent, in the woods, surrounded by trees and a lot of standing dead ash which appear as if you are in the presence of totem poles. NO OPEN FIRES. MUST USE BACKPACKER STOVE AND FLAMELESS LIGHTING. SPOTTED FAWN HIDEAWAY: This totally secluded walk in campsite is suitable for a small tent only AND PERFECT FOR HAMMOCK CAMPING. NO FIRES as the site benefits from the shade and protection of overhanging cedar trees and the ground is covered in cedar needles. NO OPEN FIRES. MUST USE BACKPACKER STOVE AND FLAMELESS LIGHTING. Locally, we're a few miles from Georgetown, home of the Brown County Fair, AKA the 'Little State Fair', the last week of September, as well as numerous festivals throughout the year. Georgetown is also the childhood home of Ulysses S. Grant (as indicated by the handful of murals throughout town!), and his childhood home and schoolhouse are popular stops.

This is my home residence in the small town of Dry Ridge, KY. I am just 20 minutes from The Ark Encounter and historic Williamstown. I have a small pond to camp next to either with a tent or RV that has electric and water hookup outside of my detached garage. Behind the property and surrounding the farm of 125 acres is eagle creek. Swim, fish, canoe, or kayak for additional fun and relaxation. There are walking trails and if not too congested side by sides are welcome as well. If the creek is low, there is a lot of fun to be had collecting clamshells and other various unique items that the waters bring. Wood can be purchased for campfires if desired. A small fire pit will be beside the campsite and a larger one down by the creek. Come sit by the pond and fall asleep to the sound of the frogs chirping and other wildlife.
