Amazing 150' tall limestone cliffs rise above river and several spring fed creeks feed into the river. There is hiking galore in the canyons or on the cliffs, fishing in the rivers, or bird watching on the native prairie above the cliffs. This is my favorite place to stay when driving across Kansas. Fifteen minutes off I70 to a peaceful campground with widely spaced sites. My favorite sites are the ones that are along the Salida River with an awesome sight of a towering limestone wall rising out of the ground several hundred feet high. Get there to see a sunset when the light turns the limestone wall golden in color. The host, Chad, is a wonderful host who will take excellent care of you. Best fire rings in the Hipcamp catalogue. ❤️

We loved staying here! Chad and Cynthia were very welcoming and explained everything well. The land is absolutely beautiful and we enjoyed hiking with our dog and playing in the river.
Great place to watch the stars and some cute raccoons.
Abby, their dog, is also an absolutely sweetheart and our dog had a blast running around with her.

The host was so friendly and welcoming. He drove to and showed us the campsite and talked about the beautiful property. The campsite was absolutely beautiful by the water with trees for shade and beautiful rock formations. Felt like you were out west. Very quiet at night. Gorgeous sunset. The site has a picnic table and fire ring with firewood. Will definitely return!

The site is fantastic, really like the pictures. Secluded but not too far from a city. The property is huge. We were greeted by the owner, very nice and friendly. The dog stayed with us during the morning we stayed, proud to show us the property while we were walking. There is a small ceremony place. That was perfect.

We had a great visit at Chad and Cynthia’s! It was our first time with our new teardrop camper - what a great way to break it in! Chad brought us our dinner fresh from the ranch - burgers with all the trimming and roasted potatoes. All we had to do was cook the burgers - delicious and so easy! They were great at communicating, directions were clear, and the campsite was perfect and exactly as described. We look forward to another stay in the future!

This was our first Hipcamp experience and it exceeded our expectations. We loved the site as it was on the end near a platform that overlooks the river and the stunning limestone cliffs. We appreciated the sense of privacy it afforded us. The setting is spectacular and we loved exploring and enjoying our many wildlife encounters…birds aplenty, including a flock of wild turkeys and white tailed deer.
Chad & Cynthia are exceptional hosts and we are so grateful that they share their little piece of paradise with the world.

Awesome property! You really don’t feel like you’re in Kansas anymore when you’re down by the river and bluffs. Owners are incredibly responsive and friendly. Campsites are spaced out enough where you get the feeling you have the whole place to yourself. You’re not more than 25 minutes from Hays and 20 minutes to Plainville. I’ll definitely be going back.
