Our 360-acre family farm—held by our family for nearly 80 years—has been transformed from a tree grove and a former highway borrow pit into a welcoming campground.
We’ve built two structures on the property, including a shop with a restroom and a cozy porch where my wife and I enjoy evenings watching deer and other wildlife. What began as a spot for family camping has grown into a campground we’re now opening to guests.
Campsites range from electric-hookup sites for convenience to primitive sites for those who want to unplug and enjoy quiet time in nature.
Beyond relaxing, guests can fish and paddle-boat on our pond or access the nearby Volga River for canoeing and kayaking. The Volga River State Recreation Area is just 10 miles away and offers additional fishing, boating, hiking, and horseback-riding opportunities.
Update: So far this spring we haven't seen any fish in our pond. We don't know what happened to them and if fishing on the pond will be possible this year.

Wake up to a symphony of song birds (check your Merlin app to see who is singing) and enjoy morning views with your coffee. Beautiful sunrise and sunset views and clear stargazing.
You would never guess that within 10 miles you will find hiking and biking trails, municipal golf course, water park, amusement park, casino, shopping (grocery, gas, Target, Walmart, restaurants), Cedar Valley Arboretum, and John Deer tractor museum and factory tours.
Although our Hound Dog is no longer here to alert us of your arrival, we will still keep a lookout and personally greet you when you come on the yard. We are happy to share garden produce, herbs and flowers that are grown in our gardens when in season. The acreage is also home to several antique tractors which Dave is always happy to show!

Pitch your tent or park your camper for a peaceful overnight stay on our spacious front acre. This area is set away from the main house, giving you plenty of privacy and quiet. Surrounded by several trees, it’s a simple, natural spot where you can unwind under the stars.
There are no on-site amenities such as water, power, or restrooms, so please come prepared to camp off-grid. A fire ring is provided so you can enjoy a cozy campfire in the evenings. Firewood is available for a free-will donation, able to be paid at our roadside farm stand (cash or digital options).
This is a great spot for travelers passing through, weekend adventurers, or anyone looking for an easy, rustic place to stay close to nature while still being conveniently located.

They've got a creamery, the Royal Blue bar & grill, a Caseys, and a Dollar General. Dike is to the south of us about 10 min and has the Joyful Java coffee shop and The Slice sports bar & restaurant. Or check out downtown Cedar Falls for all of their great shops, bars, and restaurants...they're to the east about 10 min.

We stopped at Sue’s for an overnight stay on our way from Indiana to Minnesota. We prefer staying where we aren’t in a typical campground setting. This stay was exactly that. We were greeted upon arrival, and assisted with filling our fresh water tank. Our 33ft travel trailer was easy to maneuver and set up on their perfectly level spot. We were able to keep our rig hooked up for an easy departure the following morning. This property is absolutely stunning. We will be coming back through in late summer and can’t wait to see the beautiful flowers when they are in full bloom. We enjoyed great conversation with Sue and her husband. We will stay here again and this is highly recommended if you prefer an overnight stay that isn’t your typical cramped KOA or Stare Park experience.

Sue is a wonderful host!! Both Sue and her husband greeted us when we arrived and helped us back into our spot. They were very friendly and made us feel like we were family. The site was very peaceful and the views were Beautiful!! It was very clean and well groomed. They had a table and chairs, firepit with firewood and they had a swing facing the views. We would definitely come back and stay here! Thank you Sue and Dave for sharing your wonderful property with us!! 😀
