Thank you for stopping to look at our Hipcamp, The Mannex — short for the Man’s Annex, since I have a pole barn with my tools and toys on this property.
This is my second year hosting campers, and my first year was such a hit that I decided to raise the bar for our guests. We really enjoyed meeting everyone who came through and helping them visit the beautiful Indiana Dunes National Park, which this campsite sits right inside of. Because of our prime location inside the Dunes National Park boundaries and how nicely this camp is set up, I’m confident this is one of the best Hipcamps in Northwest Indiana by a long shot!
The Mannex is a couple-acre property located between HWY 12 and the South Shore Tracks (an electric interurban train). There’s a station just 0.4 miles to the west for quick day trips to Chicago! We are 1.4 miles from the beach. Bring bikes so you can lock up at the beach and skip the parking hassle — spots are tough to get in summer, and you’ll need a National Park parking pass.
We’ve upgraded the site with an improved firepit, two Trex chairs, and a side table. There are two 13’ Pawleys Island two-person hammocks, string lights on a timer and dimmer, running water, 30-amp RV service, and 110v power. A lockbox has amenities: area guide, bug spray, extension cords, fire starters, matches, lanterns, Frisbees, footballs, and bean bags for cornhole. Seasoned firewood is included (please use the wire mesh dome on the pit).
We also have a Trex octagonal picnic bench, and new this year — a deluxe flushable outhouse with sink so you don’t have to fill your holding tank. Because of that, we now welcome tent campers too!
Aside from hiking the dunes and enjoying the beaches, the Mannex is centrally located to lots of great spots. Beverly Shores is an Official Bird Town USA and a hotbed for birdwatching — you might even spot our local celebrities, a mated pair of Bald Eagles and their eaglet!
Good eats nearby at The Goblin and Grocer (family-friendly with a great bar and outdoor seating) and Joe & Freddie’s to the east with excellent bar food.

Sleek Acres is a beautifully maintained property perfect for a quiet relaxing camping experience. We stayed 4 nights at the full hook-up site near the bathhouse and amazing pond. The sites were immaculate with a picnic table, fire ring and wood. We were greeted upon arrival, shown our place for the weekend and settled in easily. Lisa and Earl are exceptional hosts ~ they've worked hard at making their HipCamp inviting and obviously take pride in their land. Very kind, thoughtful, hospitable and helpful couple.
While visiting the area, we attended the annual Blueberry Festival, explored Indiana Dunes National Park, enjoyed several local craft breweries and drove the backroads lined with cornfields. We travel with our 8 year old rescue pup Schatzi Blu ~ she also had fun checking out the trails, pond with turtles/ducks/fish and watching the chickens/roosters in the pen. The farm fresh chicken eggs are delicious and made our Anniversay brunch even more special! A lil slice of heaven right in Indiana!! Excellent stay!!

Lisa was very nice and helpful getting us set up. The property was clean and gorgeous. We saw hummingbirds, turtles, catfish, ducks, deer, and a blue heron. We would stay again.
If you are noise sensitive, I would recommend ear plugs. We were woken up at 4 AM to a train and there is a low hum from the highway. Nothing bad but noteworthy.

What a beautiful setting! We really enjoyed our stay. It was an easy in and out for our rig and there were walking trails to take the dogs on a walk. We even got some lovely produce! We would definitely recommend this stop and will stay again next time we are in the area.

We RV and love using hipcamp so this site was appealing to us with an opportunity to enjoy the lake. Mike and Connie definitely have the gift of hospitality and were such gracious hosts during our time at the lake. Site was very clean and well maintained with full hook up if needed. If you love lake life this would be a great place to go. You do have a lake view at the site but you also have access to a private grassy area to enjoy the lake up close, take in a sunset, or use the pier to swim, fish or dock a boat. Public access for boats is just a short ride down the road. We enjoyed relaxing by the water or outside and also walked and rode our bikes all around. We felt very safe and it was extremely quiet and peaceful which is important
to us when seeking a hipcamp. Thanks guys for sharing your homestead with us. We would love to come back and visit again.

Our stay was short, but this campsite was absolutely perfect. The property was peaceful, well-maintained, and exactly what we were looking for.
One of the highlights was the on-site organic store at Perkins Good Earth Farm. We picked up several items, and everything we bought was fresh and absolutely delicious. It was such a unique touch that really added to the experience.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will definitely be back. Highly recommend this Hipcamp to anyone looking for a relaxing getaway with the added bonus of amazing farm-fresh products.

Earl and Lisa were quick to communicate when I needed any help. They were excellent kind hearted folks. Their bathrooms, showers, and sink were clean and very much appreciated. I loved their land and enjoyed my full hook up site close to their pond which had lovely scenery with a number of Mallard ducks. They also had a some cozy evening string lights which helped to get around the bathroom and sink area at night and really set the mood for great evenings. I highly recommend their lovely site for RV or tent camping.

Gosia & Mike were welcoming hosts and very friendly. Their property is beautiful. It was neat to see their blueberry farm, chickens, and how they've set up the camping areas. We have a self contained van so didn't use the provided facilities, but they looked nice. This was a great place to stay outside of Chicago and I highly recommend it!
