Each site is in a wooded, shaded area with a flat area on the ground to place a single large tent. Each site has its own fire ring and a small wooden table. There is wood on the ground you may use for firewood, and ample twigs etc on the ground for kindling (do not cut any trees or branches off trees). There is a covered firewood shed with dry firewood as well. There are maintained trails with river access for kayaks. There are 2 porta potties near the campsites with a handwashing station, that is open year round. There is a single bathroom with flush toilet and sink with running water that is a short walk away (open May-Oct depending on weather) There is an outdoor on-demand hot-water shower at bathroom, with a water hose available as well. On-demand hot water heaters provide hotter water at a low water pressure, and cooler water at full blast. We do provide a large trash bin near the porta potties for trash disposal. DO NOT throw trash into fire pits or burn barrels in the woods. Campsites are a short walk (100-200 feet) away from parking area (you CANNOT drive directly to or park at your campsite). Foster Park is a short bike ride away where you will find greenway trails that run throughout Fort Wayne (ride your bike to downtown!!) Our property backs up to the St Mary's River, bring you kayaks and fishing poles! (We reserve the right to assign you to a different (but equally beautiful) campsite in the case of property maintenance concerns, recent rain or weather conditions etc). It was beautiful watching the sunset. over the alpacas in the field. As we sat by the fire making dinner. Friendly kitties almost took one home in our pocket… they were just so darn cute! But our Harry ( spoiled kitty) wanted nothing to do with the cute animals. Wonderful stuff purchased at their store that was made from the farm.

Heritage Farm was such a great getaway to slow down and soak in nature’s sounds and farm life! We enjoyed it all- from hiking in the woods with the goats to feeding and walking the alpacas! All experiences we have never had. Our daughters (ages 3 & 5) especially loved the huge slide down the hill and the adorable cats and kittens to play with. Tim and Beth are wonderful hosts! If you’re looking for a great place to unwind and reset, Heritage Farm is truly the place to escape to!

The property was a pleasant surprise for being in a rural area. It was nice to have options of river access for kayaking or a salt water pool to reside in. It was clean. If you’re a tent camper your areas appeared nicely spaced out. If you have an RV you will be at the entrance just off the road (which was rarely traveled). Wide open places if you were to have a group you would have the front all to yourselves. Kayaking on the river was fun. It was a nice couple of days.

Heritage Farms was a unique location. Directions were clear and hosts responsive. Upon arrival we were met and assisted to our site (red barn RV). There were many pens of alpacas and our site was next to one. We were greeted by the friendly dogs and there were many kittens. The farm and buildings are well maintained and there are beautiful flowers. You do need to understand it is a working alpaca farm and if that isn’t your thing then it wouldn’t be for you. There was less privacy where our site was located due to the attraction of the animals.

This camp is absolutely amazing. We visited it on the 4th of July and we really enjoyed everything. The communication was very clear and prompt, the hosts are so friendly. All the territory is so functional, beautiful and clean. The swimming pool is really great with a slide, the water was warm. The river view is beautiful. My husband even caught a fish there on our last day in the morning. Our group enjoyed this camping so much, we will definitely be back. Thank you so much!

We had a beautiful weekend. Nicole was a great host. The farm fresh eggs were delicious. The float on the river was peaceful and the closest I've ever been to a bald eagle. The nearby Ruth Kern nature preserve offered a quick hike with luscious greenery.

River camp is a wild, natural area just minutes from the hustle and bustle of Fort Wayne. It's amazing how remote it feels. Marla is a great host, and has kept the natural feel while having every convenience you would want while camping. I sat down on the river watching geese with goslings, and a Bald Eagle that was hunting for a relaxing evening.

Extremely quiet, beautiful and lots of friendly furry animals. The directions for the RV site were a little hard to follow, but we found it easily enough. The interactive farm map was not very easy to use and since it’s a complex you really need a map. We did pay extra for an alpaca tour and firewood but there was no one there. When we called the host, he didn’t seem to know anything about it and wasn’t there but had his nieces deliver some wood eventually. Had to cook our steaks over a small camp grill instead of the fire because we couldn’t wait any longer. Lots of very friendly kitties to defend dinner from. They almost got our meal at one point. .

Tim and Beth are great hosts with an amazing property. The alpacas, chickens, dogs, cats and the quiet are the most calming camping site you could ever want. It's a working farm. It doesn't feel like a working farm. It feels like a home in the country and we can't wait to come back!
