I become owner of this property in 2017. The cabins were built in the late 90's financed by the previous owner. The property was vacant for decades prior to that. In the 1950's, the property was a drive-in motel called the 'Harbert Motel'. We have an arial photo from this time period which showed a number of small bungalows for guests, each with its own carport. I love all the stories I hear from locals who have been around long enough to remember how things 'used to be'. Southwest Michigan has an interesting history and has been a 'destination' from city dwellers for close to 100 years. My fiancée and I loved our weekend getaway at Nichole’s site. She was very welcoming & gave us a tour of the camp site. The area was very clean & was a perfect spot for us to disconnect from the city life. She even offered the river tubing ride which we also HIGHLY recommend. It was definitely the highlight of our trip. Nicole was also very quick on her responses and helped us with the questions we had. We will definitely visit again & we recommend this stay 👍🏼💚🌳

We had such a wonderful three-night stay! The hosts were absolutely exceptional—so welcoming and kind that by the time we left, it felt like we were saying goodbye to friends. They went above and beyond, even providing toys and activities for our 15-month-old, which made the trip extra special for her. The amenities were fantastic, from the well-equipped outdoor kitchen to their thoughtful help with a few things we had forgotten to pack. The campsite itself was private and beautifully maintained, with peaceful trails to walk and explore right from our spot. Our toddler loved playing with the fun animals on the property and had the best time, and honestly, so did we. This was such a memorable trip, and we’re so grateful to have found such amazing hosts!

The property was a pleasant surprise for being in a rural area. It was nice to have options of river access for kayaking or a salt water pool to reside in. It was clean. If you’re a tent camper your areas appeared nicely spaced out. If you have an RV you will be at the entrance just off the road (which was rarely traveled). Wide open places if you were to have a group you would have the front all to yourselves. Kayaking on the river was fun. It was a nice couple of days.

This is the first time that be used hip camp and I couldn’t be more happy with the location and hospitality that I received when I met Anne. She was such a gracious host and so willing to make our stay a comfortable and memorable experience. Anne started off by giving us a tour of grounds and introduced us to her wonderful dogs and friendly free roaming chickens….right then the ambiance was set for a relaxing stay. Although we didn’t use the outdoor kitchen it was such a lovely amenity and I am very much looking forward to using it on our next visit.

One of the best Hipcamp experiences so far! Spacious camp spot with stunning views at the river. Feels really secluded, in the same time you are steps away from the facilities and swimming pool. Also, I didn’t have any issues with bugs and mosquitoes despite being among trees close to the river.

What an incredible property and host! The site was well maintained and secluded from the other sites. There is a “common area” with the kitchen, table and chairs, and the shower close by. Everything you need for cooking up a meal is provide. The outdoor shower is to die for! The free range animals were so cool and my favorite part of this experience. There is a cute coffee shop and bookstore that is 10 minutes away in Buchanan, MI. The only thing I wasn’t expecting was that our car was not parked near our campsite. Expect to park at the front of the property and then Anne or Jonathan will trailer your camping gear and bags back to your site for you. This wasn’t a big deal at all for us, but if you are expecting your car to be next to your site to air up a mattress or something, it may just throw off your plans. I would 100% book with Anne again. Also she was so sweet to talk to and gave us fresh eggs from her chickens!

Creek runs to the river on the edge of Lochloosa. Creekside tents sites available complete with soothing sounds of the babbling brook!

Amazing spot!! Allen was such a kind and welcoming host. There are kayaks in the storage bin that you can use to float and enjoy the water. There’s also a great pond next to the farm with huge fish! The river is shallow, so it’s not really for swimming, but it’s perfect for relaxing and enjoying water activities. Totally recommend!!

We highly enjoyed our stay here! The hosts were so welcoming, kind, and accommodating going out of their way to make sure we were comfortable. Besides for noise from other campers, it was very private. The campsite was a beautiful wooded area. This was in close enough proximity to New Buffalo we were able to go out and about during day and spend the night here. Would definitely recommend.
