We bought the farmette with much work outside and home interior remodel to complete. We slowly turned the property into our family oasis. We neighbor a pasture with cows. There are free range chickens running around during the day. Geese greet us every evening and morning at the pond...as do the many bullfrogs. Occasionally you'll hear the coyotes, but they keep their distance. The stars shine peacefully and the sunsets are picturesque (most afternoons). The pond is a great place to swim and fish. The hillside is a nice walk for exercise or take the easier route and sit under the great oak tree in the other pasture. Campsites are off the road, behind our main home. You won't find a sign...we keep it simple.
We allow pets at the sites for a $5 per pet/per night. If you would like to bring a pet, please add the Pet Fee which is listed on the Extra during the booking process.
We have firewood available for sale, $5.55/bundle. This is located in the Extra section during the booking process.
Lastly, there is free range chicken eggs available for purchase, $3.50/dozen. This is also located in the Extra section during the booking process.

We purchased our 45 acre farm in 1997, since then we have operated a sustainable small organic farm.
In January of 2018 we purchased 58 more acres that is attached to our land.
The property has a greenhouse, high tunnel and about a half acre of field that we raise vegetables and fruit on.
We have a 3 acre pond with a naturally sustaining fish population, that we swim and boat in. There are hiking trails that go through many small pastures and woods with streams running through them.
Plenty of wildlife, hiking and mountain biking areas. We have a certified kitchen at the farm and have products raised and/or made on the farm for folks to purchase.
Supposedly our house is haunted and there are a couple of haunted sites within 15 miles of the farm.
Nearby Taylorville has a Walmart, Aldi, Kroger, and many small local businesses. There is a YMCA and a few parks.
Lake Sangchris State Park is close by. The capital of Illinois, Springfield is 35 miles from the farm.

Our Amish farm is nestled in the heart of Amish Country, Douglas County Illinois. We're located just 45 min. from Champaign & Decatur,
5 minutes from the Aikman Wildlife Adventure & 35 min. from the fishing spots & walking trails at Walnut Point State Park. Relax in our quiet lodging right here on the farm where you'll see horses, goats & chickens. For an additional fee, we're happy to offer Amish buggy rides & wagon rides for our guests.
The camper is 28 feet with a 12 foot tip-out. It has one bedroom with a king size bed, and another with a double bed. In the common area there's a sleeper sofa. There's a bathroom with shower in the camper and another bathroom with shower about a 1 min. walk in a separate building.
Our farm is just a 5 min. drive from the Great Pumpkin Patch, Yoder's Country Kitchen and various Amish owned shops. Beautiful Lake Shelbyville is a 35 minute drive. We are about a 45 min. drive from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and 35 min. from Eastern Illinois University.
This Amish owned camper doesn't have Wifi (TV only plays DVD's). Depending on your phone carrier & plan, you shouldn't have any problem getting cell phone service & internet on your phone. It may be possible to funnel the internet from your phone to your phone to your laptop using a "personal hotspot".

This Amish owned camper doesn't have Wifi (TV only plays DVD's). Depending on your phone carrier & plan, you shouldn't have any problem getting cell phone service & internet on your phone. It may be possible to funnel the internet from your phone to your phone to your laptop using a "personal hotspot".

This is a lovely camp site near a small pond and a 5 minute walk to a new and very clean out house. Our camp hosts were very hospital, friendly and accommodating. They brought us lots of fire wood as it was pretty cold when we stayed there. We spent many hours around the large fire ring just talking and enjoying the quiet. We did not have clear skies so we weren't able to take advantage of the star gazing, but the area is free from light pollution and the nearby field would give you lots of space to star gaze. I highly recommend this site.

Since it was dusk when we arrived, we didn't fully appreciate the beauty and serenity of our camping spot until the next morning. How awesome to wake up to the birds singing and the reflection of the fall tree on the pond as the sun was rising. After breakfast we took a walk about the property. The "Guess what tree" display by the bathrooms was quite challenging and fun! Although we did not use them, we peeked into the bathrooms - well maintained and roomy with a toilet, sink and shower. After checking out all of the campsites (we were the only ones there) and the pavilion area, we hiked around the northern section of the property (since the 800+ acres of land to the south were closed) and enjoyed every minute.
If you are looking for a space to camp in the area for a night or several, this should be your choice.

This is our second time visiting Bear Creek Farm and it was once again Amazing! Camp sites are clean and spacious along with fantastic service from Debbie and the fam. Wood was provided for us at our camp site and although it did rain during our stay, we still had an awesome time here. Though we couldn't keep our fire going due to the rain we were greeted with a delicious breakfast that Matt prepared for us. I am so happy to have found Bear Creek Farm and ranch and will definitely be coming back.

This tent site always comes in handy for last minute camping. Very comfortable, secluded spot during the week. Showers are super clean. This is our second time coming here. Very dusty this time as they added sand to probably fill in holes. Bees can be an issue during the day so it is recommended to eat in the car. Potentially a lack of wildflowers causes the bees to be extra hungry. S’mores are probably safe when roasted at night.
Despite these small issues, still a five. We believe the people who run this project are very passionate about wildlife, preserving this area, and giving campers a wonderful experience.

This was a lovely spot. It sits right on the edge of woods. The site was private and had a nice fire pit as well. The property was beautiful and the hosts were very helpful and accommodating. They provided firewood for the fire pit and sent helpful information about the area prior to check-in. We will definitely stay here again.

It's a smaller campground. There's a town 5 min away so if you need stuff, it's easy to get to. Liked the pond. Our spot was difficult to back into. We liked stating there. There isn't much shade so plan accordingly.

Love everything on site! The kids had an absolute blast at the beach and in the water and on the playground. Quiet and perfect for our family trip. We rented 3 spots due to 3 families coming but the spots are roomy and may have only needed 2. Firewood and eggs we ordered from here were waiting for us when we got there too. Would totally recommend and possibly go again.
State park is a quick drive for.more places to explore :)
Be careful to note - there is only a 50a power hookup - bring your own adapter if your camper is a 30a
The hot water is rough in the shower. It was going from ice to burn back to ice. In the middle of that you would get about 5-10 seconds of warm but the cold was cold and the hot was a tad dangerous, especially for the kids.
Flies!! Bring some sort of fly trap or tape for your camper. It is a farm after all and I'm used to bugs and skeeters while camping but dang I was not prepared for this. Doesn't change my opinion of how awesome it was, just letting yall know to be prepared.

Went tent camping for two nights for the first time since when I was a very young child, I hardly remember it, but this time was a wonderful experience! I'm so glad they allow dogs, as I could bring my two babies. They have a nice little pond where you can fish (I didn't catch anything, sadly, hahah) and you can also swim there! They had a nice little fountain on, too, on the hotter day, which was nice. They have a fire pit, a little park, and cows that seem to visit every morning on the other side of the fence! Such cuties! Anyways, great first time campsite! Hosts were so nice, too!

After spending many nights at crowded state parks, it was delightful to relax in peace and quiet. The most noise we heard, was the bull frogs!
We were greeted by Matt. He is a kind and gentle soul and truly cared about his home and our comfort.

We loved our campsite. Ann was a great host. The farm eggs were awesome. There was no shortage of things to do. There were a few hiking trails close by, we spent an afternoon in Galena but most of our time was spent swimming, fishing and catching frogs. This was a great trip and we will definitely be back.
