As all the land here is born of lava, many moons ago this land began to host plants and critters. Long after, it was sculpted and a number of families and farmers have contributed to what we have today. An abundance of fruit and vegetables within sight of the ocean. Peaceful breezes and warming sun make for unparalleled tranquility. Today the land still gives back to its visitors. Come recharge. As this is agricultural lands, there are many critters. Dogs, chickens, pheasants, peacock, mongoose, and many birds. Tge invasive coqui frog is annoying to some and calming to others. The micro climate here swings from warm and dry to wet quickly. Best to always prepare for rain. There is snorkeling, beaches, local food, Cafe, BBQ, poke, fish-n-chips, grocery, Sunday farmers market and hiking nearby. It is peaceful here, but also an active farming community. As an organic farm, we put alot of effort into soil building and as such, there are soft places that will be damaged by the weight of a vehicle. Staying on the driveway is best. We will guide you to where you need to go. Our road is paved, but bumpy. Any vehicle will make it without damage if driven slowly. 1 to 4mph tops. *Be sure to avoid the camper rental companies that restrict certain roads. Aloha and have a great day.

We live on 19 acres on Road to the Sea, which has a remote green sand beach at the end of the road (4 miles down from us). We call our slice of paradise, Honua Laa (a sacred place). Straight down to the coast is a beautiful black and green sand beach and a huge tide pool. Rent a four-wheel-drive to get there, but you don’t need 4WD to get to our place, but you do need to rent an SUV or truck with high clearance. No sedans. Go slow the road is rough and bumpy in places.. Off the grid. Rustic, but fun. If you are a Eco tourist or seeking adventure, you will love our spot! The silence is golden and the stars are amazing. Don't expect a hotel...this is upcountry glamorous camping. It's one-of-a-kind! Most of the parcels are 20 acre parcels around… But a few smaller parcels across the road. We have nice neighbors who keep an eye on things. The nearest grocery store is about 3 miles away. The Hele-On Bus is just 1.2 miles up the road. If you want to drive to the green sand beach at the end of our road, rent a 4 wheel drive. If you are athletic, you can walk, but it is 4 miles down and 4 miles back. I recommend going early in the morning and take water. Hot water shower is propane. Bring ice for your ice chest. Bring drinking water. There is a gas grill and propane single burner. Bathroom has manual flush toilet,. This is off the grid solar and there can be days without sun, or other glitches. You can charge your phone and have a lamp in your cabin. No wifi. I use ATandT and I understand that Verizon and T-Mobile work here also. The panoramic ocean view is spectacular! Very peaceful and relaxing! Our glamping cabins are in the front 3 acres. The back 17 acres is an old Ohia forest with 500 year old trees and lots of birds. You might even see a wild goat or a wild pig. There are small caves and gorgeous rock formations. It backs up to Manuka Forest Reserve.

Straight down to the coast is a beautiful black and green sand beach and a huge tide pool. Rent a four-wheel-drive to get there, but you don’t need 4WD to get to our place, but you do need to rent an SUV or truck with high clearance. No sedans. Go slow the road is rough and bumpy in places.. Off the grid. Rustic, but fun. If you are a Eco tourist or seeking adventure, you will love our spot! The silence is golden and the stars are amazing. Don't expect a hotel...this is upcountry glamorous camping. It's one-of-a-kind! Most of the parcels are 20 acre parcels around… But a few smaller parcels across the road. We have nice neighbors who keep an eye on things. The nearest grocery store is about 3 miles away. The Hele-On Bus is just 1.2 miles up the road. If you want to drive to the green sand beach at the end of our road, rent a 4 wheel drive. If you are athletic, you can walk, but it is 4 miles down and 4 miles back. I recommend going early in the morning and take water. Hot water shower is propane. Bring ice for your ice chest. Bring drinking water. There is a gas grill and propane single burner. Bathroom has manual flush toilet,. This is off the grid solar and there can be days without sun, or other glitches. You can charge your phone and have a lamp in your cabin. No wifi. I use ATandT and I understand that Verizon and T-Mobile work here also. The panoramic ocean view is spectacular! Very peaceful and relaxing! Our glamping cabins are in the front 3 acres. The back 17 acres is an old Ohia forest with 500 year old trees and lots of birds. You might even see a wild goat or a wild pig. There are small caves and gorgeous rock formations. It backs up to Manuka Forest Reserve.

This was our second early-December stay here. The property is in an excellent location above Naalehu, is easy to find, and has spectacular views of the surrounding hillside and ocean. Brian, the onsite manager, was responsive and friendly, and made us feel welcome. The cabins are cute and clean, and the crickets and coqui frogs serenaded us to sleep. The outdoor shower is private and clean, and has plenty of hot water. This is a simple little gem of a place, and we would definitely stay here again.

We had such an amazing experience here! The sunset views alone made this stay unforgettable — truly some of the most beautiful we’ve ever seen. Our host went above and beyond, from sharing wonderful local recommendations to graciously allowing us to extend our stay when we weren’t ready to leave. The property was peaceful, well cared for, and perfect for unwinding. We loved having a place to dry our towels and swimsuits after long days outside, and the fresh tangelo from the garden was such a special touch. You can really tell how much care and intention goes into making guests feel welcome here. We’re already talking about coming back. Highly, highly recommend this stay!

Nice private camp area behind locked gate. Careful there is a lot of broken glass as you drive past the gate towards the campsite, I cleaned up a lot but the more I cleaned up the more I found. The code to the gate was wrong on the directions - luckily there was a worker at the fruit stand that gave me the right one. Tried to get a hold of the host regarding wifi but took over a day - called twice, WhatsApp, text - she finally responded to a text. Nice place to unwind and not have anyone bother you.

Bumpy road up for us in a sprinter van but slow and steady made it happen no problem. Colin was available and super helpful navigating us up and even telling us the best way to park our large van. Susan stopped by to quickly tell us about the critters and plants nearby which was fun to learn about. The toilets were not available as they hadn't been serviced so ask ahead if that’s a need for your stay. Overall a peaceful stay. Thanks Colin and Susan!

They have many acres and places for you to park your vehicles or pop up your tents or both, they have a bathroom, a shower and a bath bathtub which is awesome! We just shower always at the beach because that’s the only thing we do is go out into the ocean on the side! I would highly recommend staying here. It’s beautiful and the most unexplainable way. I grew up homicide. I live HILO side for five years now, but this was undiscovered Land for us, and it was a true treasure to find!

This was a unique and beautiful experience to share with people living in and off the valley land of Big Island. If you’re an experienced camper/adventure seeker you’ll love this stay. You meet at the top of the valley and hike or drive down. Joel and his friend Kama were very helpful in making sure we were comfortably set up for our stay. My partner and I learned so much about what life is like in the valley and the land itself. There is a deep respect for the people and land here, and all guests should come with this shared respect and curiosity. They were extremely generous with their time, space, and knowledge. Joel showed us how to harvest food that we then cooked together in the outdoor kitchen space. We then explored the nearby secluded black sand beach where we played with Yoshi, the resident dog🐕 If you’re lucky you’ll meet the most affectionate host, Ulu 🐈 An unforgettable stay! Just two blocks south of the main highway (Hawaii Belt Road), our large gated lot in Ocean View Ranchos is the perfect campervan staging area for popular destinations on the east, south, and west sides of the island. It’s a short drive to Punaluʻu Bake Shop, Black Sands Beach, South Point (the southernmost point in the U.S.), and Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, home to one of the most active volcanoes on the planet, Kīlauea — only an hour away. We know firsthand how difficult it can be to secure safe overnight parking, as the State of Hawaii doesn’t allow it on public roadways. This is no-frills overnight parking. There is currently no running water, but we do provide a porta-potty for guests. We plan to add an outdoor shower and running water in the near future.

Enjoy the country life in Kau on the South End of the Big Island and the lovely red Lehua flowers blooming. We live on 20 acres on Road to the Sea, which has a remote green sand beach at the end of the road (4 miles down from us). We call our slice of paradise, Honua Laa (a sacred place). Straight down to the coast is a beautiful black and green sand beach and a huge tide pool. Rent a four-wheel-drive to get there. You don’t need a 4WD to get to our place, but you will need a SUV or truck. Go slow the road is bumpy and rough in places. We are 1.2 miles from the highway. Off the grid. Rustic, but fun. If you are a Eco tourist or seeking adventure, you will love our spot! The silence is golden and the stars are amazing. Don't expect a hotel...this is upcountry glamorous camping. Shared bathroom (see photos) about a 100 feet away. Hipcamp kitchenette includes a propane single burner, ice chest, No fridge. No oven. We have an outdoor fire pit, if you like campfires! It's one-of-a-kind! Most of the parcels are 20 acre parcels around… But a few smaller parcels across the road. We have nice neighbors who keep an eye on things. The nearest grocery store is about 3 miles away. The Hele-On Bus is just 1.2 miles up the road. If you want to drive to the green sand beach at the end of our road, rent a 4 wheel drive. If you are athletic, you can walk, but it is 4 miles down and 4 miles back. I recommend going early in the morning and take water. Hot water shower is propane. Bring ice for your ice chest. Bring drinking water. There is plenty of coffee and tea in the kitchenette. Boil hot water in the kettle, put cone filter with a paper filter and ground coffee inside and on top of thermos. Drip. It's delicious! This is off the grid solar and there can be days without sun, or other glitches. No wifi. I use ATandT and I understand that Verizon and Tmobile work also The panoramic ocean view is spectacular! Very peaceful and relaxing! The back 15 acres is an old Ohia forest with 500 year old trees and lots of birds. You might even see a wild goat or a wild pig. There are small caves and gorgeous rock formations. It backs up to Manuka Forest Reserve. We have beautiful furnished cabins with beds, so you don't have to pitch a tent. Pillows, blankets, fresh towels provided.
