The Echeconnee swamp is home to Blue Herons, Snowy Egrets and Bald Eagles among many other species of Wildlife. Our 86 acres of lush shady Bridle paths wind along the creek with tributaries to splash through on hot days. Mushroom hunters PARADISE with golden Chanterelles, Lions Mane and Oyster mushrooms are abundant! Feel free to harvest whatever the land provides as a perk for your stay! Ghost hunters~ many boarders have seen a floating lady in a long white dress.. we call her the "white witch". Often when traversing the trails at night we have found areas with severe temperature drops. We live on site on 17 acres that is surrounded by large tracts of undeveloped land with the Oconee National Forest within 1/4 mile and the Ocmulgee river within 1 mile. The name Seven Islands comes from the rich history of this area and the nearby trading site between Native Americans and settlers in the 1800s on the seven islands of the Ocmulgee River. For Equestrian campers, we have an electric hook-up near the house and a round-pen size paddock for horses (or can make panels into stalls) +$7/horse/night. (Note: We reserve the right to refuse lodging to horses with runny noses/runny eyes or otherwise sick). *Cabin being remodeled. To be open some time in 2025* We are happy to ride with you when available if desired - or we recommend using the Outdoor Active or Gaia app. Our tent camping area is a peaceful, shady area overlooking meandering Kinnard Creek. The dirt road is within view, but it is a country road rarely travelled by anyone other than kayakers and other recreationists. You may hear the friendly nicker or see our 3 horses coming to check you out, but their pasture area does not intrude on the camping area. Hike or ride your horses on the nearby trails. The Fried Green Tomatoes cafe and Sac-O-Suds (famous from the movie "My Cousin Vinny") [Edit: Sac-O-Suds store is currently closed. But still a scenic drive-by] are an easy drive as well as Covington GA where you can see The Vampire Diary clock tower (or take a tour of other filming locations). There are many quaint shops in town, a 10 minute drive, or in nearby Madison GA. This is a great country getaway to reconnect with nature and peace. We are just far enough away not to be intrusive, but near enough if you need assistance.

My husband and I stayed Thanksgiving weekend. Very friendly & responsive hosts. Ample space at our site. We had a problem with our slide upon arrival; James took a look but was unable to help but did give suggestions of someone who could. Bath houses were clean!!! Site had its own grill, table, fire pit. Farm animals were very friendly. My only negative was the hot water pressure was not good so I couldn’t take advantage of the showers But everything else was super nice!!

Bathrooms are very clean but not heated for winter. Lisa and James were very helpful when my granddaughters’ rented RV’s heat went out in the middle of the night. They came right away to fix it.

We absolutely loved our experience here. The hosts, Lisa and James were very friendly, along with their sweet dog. They have tons if animals you can feed. They have cute bathrooms. The place is quiet. We'd definitely recommend and we'd definitely come back.

My husband and I booked this place last minute for a cute camping getaway and we had an amazing experience. We got to see their farm animals and feed them. They had clean facilities and were very accommodating to whatever we needed. 10/10. Would absolutely go back.

We had an amazing time. It was supposed to be a quick overnight stop. We got in late, 10pm. We had little mix up with the site. James & Lisa came right out. Took great care of us and even helped us get hooked up. The next morning came over to check on us too. Amazing hosts. Very attentive and kind. Then the location.. in the daylight is amazing. We all had fun taking the golf cart to see the animals and through the trails. The amenities were clean and lots of hot water. The property is beautiful and fun. Will definitely stay here again. The kids are already asking to go back on our way home.

Fantastic little campground with extremely helpful hosts. Here’s what I liked about it. There was lighting, but not too much. Sites were roomy with a small fire pit, picnic tables, and a charcoal grill. The individual bathrooms were clean, warm and convenient. A hot shower was great to get after a long day on the road. It was quiet with a few outdoor country sounds, like owls, a dog in the distance and a rooster at sunup. I’d recommend this place to anyone.

Nothing says beauty like a herd of Arabian horses galloping across a meadow!

6 nights at Sun Valley Horse & Hiking Camp!

This was such a fun place to stay! The weather wasn't the best the week I was there, rainy and cold. But nevertheless the experience of staying at a working stable was fun. Every morning the horses get fed, then let out of their stables into the fields. And every evening they get brought back in. I stayed around the back of the main stable next to the juvenile pen. They have 2 youngsters who I ended up making friends with. If you can't tell I'm not a horse person. But being able to stay at Sun Valley, I'm learning to love them! Definitely worth the stay. Note: you're staying amongst the stables, so expect flies and smells. Enjoy the atmosphere! It's all part of the experience!

Great location and site. The animals are friendly and provide a great soundtrack to your stay. The site included a raised, wooden tent pad which was great. There are a good amount of trash cans available and the area is incredibly well maintained. The outhouse is in great condition and provides enough hot water for a good shower while the laundry facility provides an incredible resource and a free outlet. I felt very safe and had a wonderful experience. 10/10

Camping in the A frame was absolutely perfect. We arrived late and left early as it was just a stop on our travel but it was exactly what we needed. The grounds were clean and quiet. The bed and bedding was more comfortable than most hotels. We used the AC in the A-frame for a little while but it cooled so well we ended up turning it off. The showers were huge in comparison to other campgrounds and they were very clean with hot water. Wish we could've stayed longer than the one night. We'll definitely go back on our next trip!

We have stayed at Piney Hills two fall seasons in a row now, and I can’t envision a year that we wouldn’t return. I love it (wife) because it is gated and I feel safe there, my husband loves it because it gets his wife out into nature (😂), and the kids love digging around for toads and bugs, and they love the farm animals so much. We’ve stayed both in an A frame and a tent site. If you’re staying in a tent and you want sleep, there are roosters at the farm so bring some ear plugs, they crow early! Ha! ;) Lisa is so sweet to the kids, and you can tell they just love providing a great place for families and everyone to enjoy a little slice of nature. 10/10.

This was such a hidden gem! The cabin was adorable, clean, and close to a very nice bathhouse. We were right next to two friendly ponies, and a short walk from a variety of animals, which the kids loved feeding. The campground was clean, quiet, and peaceful. Lisa was so kind, and even brought us a bottle of wine because we were there to celebrate a birthday. We will absolutely be back!

We stayed two nights in the large A-frame and had a wonderful time. The campsites are spacious, not crowded together like so many others. The bath house was clean, quaint, and so adorable. They even had motion sensor lights to light up the area as you walk up to it at night. Their animals are so precious and are fun to interact with. There is quite a lot of acreage and many trails, unfortunately we did not get to take advantage of them this trip (next time!). The hosts, Lisa and James, are incredible people that go above and beyond if needed. Their Farm and Campground is a continuous work in progress, but you can tell it is a labor of love. This is not a place for those who love KOA type campgrounds (no pool, no clubhouse or tennis courts, etc...), but I would highly recommend it for those who truly love to camp. And as we travel with our two little dogs everywhere we go, it was important for us to find someplace that was pet friendly. Our dogs had a great time meeting all the animals and seemed to enjoy their stay as much as we did. Lisa and James even provided some treats for them upon our arrival. Overall, a great experience!

This place is wonderful and I hope to be able to stay here again. My friend and our dog stayed in an A-Frame campsite. Throughout our stay I was so impressed with how our Piney Hills Campground site had all the simple necessities. Nothing more, nothing less, & in a pleasant style/decor. The land is beautiful, and it is filled with the world's cutest animals ! Emus, ponies, geese, ducks, chickens, goats, and three little piggies seemed as happy to see us as we were them. We got to listen to the sound of a distant (perfect volume) train whistle and rooster crowing during our stay too. A very comfortable time in nature was had. Thank you, Piney Hills Campground !

Wow!! This was our second visit to the property. We came last year and tent camped with our oldest daughter and family. I knew we would come back. I didn’t expect it to be so different from a year ago. The owners, Lisa and James, have added rv sites (we stayed in site 17) and are building cabins. The farm has grown, too. Plenty of animals to see and talk to. They have golf carts you can rent to really experience the 100 plus acres that includes many hiking trails. They have a carriage ride available while you stay on the property that takes you to a local winery. Definitely a must while you’re here!

I loved the glamping experience here, lots of cure animals on the property like ponies,lamb,ducks an Emu and the sweetest farm dogs you'll ever meet. Hot water in the showers and every site came with a fire pit,grill and picnic table. Had a lovely weekend here and can't recommend the wine tour enough.
