We have left most of it undisturbed to maintain the natural and peaceful nature vibes. This land is a short distance off the main roads and small/private. All tent sites are in the shaded forest and RV hookups are just a few steps away with hardwoods filling out and providing partial shade. It's a quiet area with the sounds of nature and leaves rustling. We hope you'll appreciate and enjoy the beauty and tranquility as much as we do. If you want to car/truck camp without hookups we have space for that too. Just let us know. We have a beautiful 4 bathroom bathhouse, with ADA shower and another bathroom with clawfoot tub/shower and private back deck. 2 large firepits with Andirondack chairs and a separate picnic table and grill area. Private end of road property in the Cowee Valley of Franklin NC, which is the first resupply stop along the Appalachian Trail through the Smoky Mountains. Cowee Valley is a gorgeous scenic valley with farmland and winding roads and mountains on all sides. Idyllic drive in with plenty of cows grazing, deer and wild turkey running around and amazing sunsets. Cowee Campground has newly been made into a campground, previously undeveloped. We have left most of it undisturbed to maintain the natural and peaceful nature vibes. This land is a short distance off the main roads and small/private. All tent sites are in the shaded forest and RV hookups are just a few steps away with hardwoods filling out and providing partial shade. It's a quiet area with the sounds of nature and leaves rustling. We hope you'll appreciate and enjoy the beauty and tranquility as much as we do. We stayed in the Yurt which was so cozy and beautiful. The toilet inside was so convenient. It was cold but we were given 2 heaters and an electric blanket which kept us so warm we wound up sweating while it was 25 degrees out. These grounds were so cute and had all the amenities u could ask for. Great for a romantic getaway or a family weekend. We will be coming back!

I loved the small cabin #1 on Carrie and Tom's land. It was the perfect amount of space for two people. Tom was super friendly and made his rounds everyday to make sure we had everything we needed. The river was so close we could walk right down and fish. The grounds were well kept, clean and always kept warm in 20 degree low temps with plenty of heaters and an extra blanket to hang over our door for extra warmth. We will be coming back in the spring and summer and bringing friends for sure to enjoy with us! A+++++

We are frequent campers and this was our first Hipcamp booking. It has ruined us for all future campsites because it set the bar so high! My wife and I spent Thanksgiving (3 nights) here. This was an amazing property. We stayed in the camping/sheltered site with a HOT TUB !!, amazing views, fire ring, power. Everything we needed for enjoyable cold weather camping. And that heated bath house!!! Unreal, the detail and amenities. Second to none. The on property hiking was so enjoyable. Take a walk to Day Dreamer’s rock. Such a magical experience. We are already trying to find time to bring back the rest of the family. I can not recommend this site enough. We are looking forward to future trips to Indian Creek.

We loved our campsite! Hosts were friendly and helpful. We were right by the river just as the pictures showed and other campers weren't super close. There was a small play set for the kids and an easy hiking trail toward the end of the property. We were able to get firewood on the site and we had a great time!

Had a great time in cabin #2. This is a rustic cabin next to a stream. Waze GPS got us right to camp site. Tom the camp host greeted us shortly after we arrived and was so helpful on tips to keep cabin cozy. He also gave us a map and excellent directions to Dupont Forest. Camp restrooms/showers are a short walk from cabin. Port a potty even closer than restrooms. Camp ground has a good vibe. Front door didn't lock. Smore kit for extra fee was awesome, also some assorted snacks available. There is a small store nearby to get basics. No phone or internet service available at campground. Relax and unplug!

What a lovely, welcoming spot Mark and Esther have. We (my bf, pooch and I) spent two nights in our 18.5' camper trailer here in Techno RV Site #2 and it was quite perfect. We had no neighbors camped near us (mid-November and mid-week) so we felt like we were alone in the woods. But there are nice tree/shrub barriers between each site so I think it would have been fine if there had been. The bathhouse was clean and had everything you needed (including a timed heater and unlimited hot water) and the hiking trails on the property were a great place to walk the dog in the morning before setting out on our adventures. Communication was great from the hosts and they were there waiting for us upon our almost-late arrival. All in all, we felt this spot was great - and we'll probably be back. Thanks, Mark and Esther!

4 nights at Winding Stair Campground
We camped at Brass Camp it is above Johnsonville and the Glass House site. Nice plot to camp 3500 elevation, it’s level, had moss growing to cushion the ground. We had a 12ft 4 season tent with a 12ft rain fly we used as a porch and it fight just right with a lot of land left in front. You are next to a local road but traffic is pretty sparse. The Farm is really something , and is a working farm it has all the noises from the roaster to the donkey and ducks, it was pleasant to sit and listen. Amenities are very taken care of, bathhouse was great with hot showers and toilets , the Camp store was great with the kitchen sink area to wash up the dishes and potable water to refill your tanks. Stacey was great with our order for a pallet of wood making sure it was taken care of and onsite, I would have liked to take Greg up on visiting the farm and taking a look at the Mill they have onsite but stormy weather and snow held us back. We will return!

We just retired from Active Duty Air Force! My ancestors have owned the land our NC cabins sit on since 1836. In fact, my mother grew up there after my Grandfather returned from WWII when there was no electricity and the outhouse was a bench over the creek. I grew up hiking the mountains with my brothers and our BB guns and my Uncle Frank at our family reunions. In 2005 he deeded us a parcel of land and we built our first cabin - Smawlie. We love to come to the cabin and Hike the trails on our own property, and of course, the world famous ones that join them, namely the Bartram and the Appalachian Trails. As you explore the lake, the trails, the rivers, and the mountain roads you'll see why our ancestors settled here. In 2018 - we bought the remainder of Uncle Frank's land - and in his honor built our second cabin - Frank's Landing. Also in that year I started managing my brother Bill's cabin. When we were stationed in Alaska for 6 heavenly years - we purchased a remote parcel of property and have slowly begun to develop it. We just completed building our cabin there.
