And I was ready for something more fufilling. I scouted for a place of exquisite natural beauty and I found it here. I bought way too much land just before the real estate bust and learned how to turn a nice fortune into a very small one.

4 nights at The Falls at Sewanee Creek
Grant and his wife were wonderful hosts and offer several amenities that my girlfriend and I both said we’ll be back to enjoy someday. The glamp tent setup is truly breathtaking a great in between roughing it and glamorous camping. Grant took the time to make sure we had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. For people thinking about this trip, I would say be sure to bring some steaks and charcoal to put on the rocket grill! It’s a really cool piece and cooks a steak to perfection. Other than that, flashlights are a plus as it gets dark early in the winter and there isn’t much lighting outside of the tent. Don’t forget to bring something fun to do around the campfire too since there’s a really cool
Rock pit a couple steps outside the tent. S’mores, music, campfire songs, and games. You’ll want to find ways to be outside the tent if you’re like us. Speaking of, there are so many cool things to do outside of the camp! Grant gave us several awesome destinations to visit before we left and we got to each of them! All exceeded our expectations. From food, to sites, to sounds! I’d encourage everyone to explore Tracy city, Monteagle, and even Nashville is only an hour and a half away!

Amazing set-up!! Beautiful location and scenery. I stayed in the glamping tent and it was clean, comfortable, and safe. I went by myself with my dog and she loved having all the space to run around outside the tent. We also hiked down to the waterfall and a little further, and I know there were plenty of other trails nearby too. A perfect getaway! Grant and Becky were super helpful and very sweet! 10/10 recommend booking here.

I loved the stay at the Galmping tent. It was an amazing, large area that was mostly private. Having the provided cooking area was extremely helpful. The views were great I found plenty of trails to wander and follow around. Grant, the host, was very social and thorough in providing information.

We had a great night in our yurt. It was cold and we forgot our pillows, but we still had fun. All the neighbors were considerate and no wild parties happened that night. We also got dinner at the snack shack and it was delicious. Will definitely again if we go back to the area.

Weekend Trip to Greeter Falls Campground
The campground was a perfect weekend getaway, especially if you plan on doing some hiking! Camp was the perfect distance from some of the best trailheads in the area. As far as the campground goes, I have zero complaints about the campground or the staff. Staff was very friendly and helpful, and we were checked on each day to ensure that we were good and that we didn’t need anything such as firewood. The convenience of the bathhouses and electricity was also a nice touch. The only issue we ran into was noisy neighbors. We stayed in a yurt, and they were not as spaced out as we initially believed. With respectful neighbors it would have never been an issue because the campsites are unique and rather peaceful. However, once the sun went down, our neighbors chose to ignore the noise ordinance and broke out a projector and watched movies at an unreasonable volume until around midnight each night. I’d suggest the camp staff do a walk-through to ensure campers are following both the noise ordinance and the leash rules for pets. We also had a neighbor across the way with an untrained pup that mostly roamed free and struggled to listen to the owner's commands. Also, heard a lot of whining and whimpering when their pup was left unattended without any attention. I would highly recommend this campsite if you are a hiker because of the close proximity to the trailhead; however, if you’re looking for something more remote, quiet, and peaceful, I would contact the camp host to allow t

A friend and I were looking to take the dogs for a quiet retreat to relax and enjoy nature for a few days. The Glamper was exactly what we were looking for. The falls weren't there when we stayed, but it was still stunningly beautiful and peaceful, overlooking a cliff where the falls normally are. Be sure to check out the fairy village just a short walk away after dark when it lights up. Grant and Becky were amazing hosts and provided us with any assistance we needed.

We stayed in yurt #21 during our weekend visit and we loved it. The area was nice and clean including the bathrooms. The only negative would be that the yurts are too close together and if you get some loud neighbors like we did on our last night then it can get annoying 😑 but overall we enjoyed our stay😊

Weekend Trip to The Falls at Sewanee Creek
My husband and I booked The Glamper for our Honeymoon and it was perfect! We were right next to the waterfall and could see it from the yurt! There is a lot to do in the area. Tons of waterfalls and places to hike! I definitely loved being able to unplug. Take a dip in the waterfalls, go to the nearby bakery and admire The Lords Creation!

Becky and Grant have a beautiful piece of land and are incredible hosts. They truly want you to have the best time on their property and are there to help you with anything you could want/need. Wonderful campsite! My only complaint is that our neighbors were very loud and had little to no respect for the fact that they had neighbors some of which were young children who were trying to sleep. There is a 10pm quiet time posted but it is up to campers to be respectful of each other. All in all the facilities were clean and well maintained. Hot showers and bathrooms were much appreciated and the staff was extremely helpful! I will definitely be back!

Northwest Georgia
At the western edge of Lookout Mountain, Cloudland Canyon State Park offers a landscape of canyons, cliffs, waterfalls, and woods, along with overnight options of cottages, yurts, tent and RV sites, walk-in sites, and backcountry sites. At the Crockford-Pigeon Mountain Wildlife Management Area (WMA), enjoy miles of trails, abundant wildlife and hunting, and designated camping areas. Explore Fort Mountain State Park, then overnight in the campground or cottages. Further east, Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forest is a vast area of wilderness with plenty of options for dispersed camping as well as developed campgrounds.
Tennessee
Just over the border in Tennessee, enjoy outdoor adventures and historic sites at Chattanooga. Harrison Bay State Park in the Tennessee Valley offers lakes and woods, and both primitive and RV camping. White water enthusiasts can float, canoe, or raft two rivers at the Hiwassee/Ocoee Scenic River State Park and stay in primitive riverside tent sites. Further north, chase waterfalls at Fall Creek Falls State Park and take your pick of several camping areas. Explore the Caney Fork Gorge, rivers and cascades at Rock Island State Park, and choose from tent sites, RV sites, and cabins.
Alabama
Head west and south to explore the mountains and Piedmont region of Alabama. Camp in the woods of DeSoto State Park, which offers a wide range of primitive and backpacking tent sites, rustic cabins, and glamping tents, along with wildflowers and waterfalls. Lake Guntersville State Park is home to Alabama’s largest lake, golf, miles of trails, and overnight options that include campsites, cabins, and chalets. Nearby Cathedral Caverns State Park offers massive caves, stalagmites, and both a developed campground and backcountry sites.
When to go
Summers are the busiest times at Lookout Mountain. Visit in the fall for smaller crowds, cooler temperatures, and colorful fall foliage. Spring is another good option, and also the best time for chasing waterfalls. Different flowers bloom year-round at Rock City Gardens. The caves at Cloudland Canyon are only open in April, June, July, September, and October. Visit in winter to see frozen cascades.
Know before you go
- Lookout Mountain is free to visit, but the Rock City, Ruby Mountain, and Incline Railway attractions and Point Park charge entrance fees.
- Some popular parks require advance reservations for entrance and camping and may limit capacity at peak times.
- Fishing licenses are required in Georgia, Tennessee, and Alabama. Georgia also requires a separate trout license to fish in designated trout waters.
- Be bear aware—black bears can be found in the mountains and woods around Georgia.
- Dispersed camping and recreation on Georgia Wildlife Managed Areas usually require a license, permit, or pass.
