The Neature Preserve (formerly known as "Tabby's Trees") consists of 74 acres made up mostly of pine forest situated in the coastal plain. A creek runs along the western boundary of the property with an ephemeral (seasonal) wetland to the southwest. The overstory of the forest is dominated by loblolly and slash pine with a few longleaf pine sprinkled in, as well as turkey oak, live oak, laurel oak, and sweetgum. We have ~1.5 miles of trails that wind through a variety of ecosystems (trails can hiked or biked). The property has three primitive camping sites. Two of the sites are for tent camping only (where you would park your car along the hiking trail and then follow a separate path to get to the campsite), with one site that has enough space to park multiple cars or small camper right at the campsite.
The Neature Preserve is all about restoring native habitat! Prescribed fire is used at The Preserve to safely and efficiently restore and maintain productive ecosystems and to support our native plant and animal species. Communitowhee (or Towhee) Farm is the rebirth of a retired, 19th century tenement estate located in the Mvskoke Indian territory of Milledgeville, GA. The land is divided into a working, 40+ acre pine forest and a 1-acre tract envisioned as an organic produce farm.
On the 1-acre tract, in the pecan grove next to the tiny home where you'll be staying, there is 120v electrical as well as a water hookup. We also have tiki torches and a fire pit for spending time around the fire in the evening.
PLEASE READ CAREFULLY! All fires must be contained inside the designated hubcap chiminea. Do not attempt to build any fires outside of this container. All fires must be fully extinguished when unattended.
We welcome you to join us for an evening or a few on our homestead!
The microfarm is complete with D.I.Y. designs; fruit trees, raised beds, composting bins, a bat house, water-catchment barrels, a fruit/vegetable sun-dryer, and a 11-by-40-foot greenhouse. It's our home and humble work in progress community vision. Currently in residence are our domestic and farm cats, some of whom you may meet during your stay.
Every step of Communitowhee’s growth has been taken with deep thought and consideration for the health and history of its land. Each infrastructure design has been and will continue to be built from sustainable, up and recycled materials to minimize environmental impact. And, whether it be converting a traditional garden bed into a self-irrigating wicking bed or figuring out how to affix new tires to an antique Radio Flyer wagon — every project has been achieved through grit, trial-and-error, tons of YouTube videos, and the inherited instincts of many centuries of farming ancestors.

We have a charcoal grill, and a fire pit. Feel free to gather wood from anywhere on the property for the fire pit. Bring charcoal lighter to get the fire going unless you are a primitive survivalist.
WE ALSO HAVE A PLAYGROUND FOR SMALL CHILDREN!
We do NOT have a public shower but the Love's and the QT station are both 3 miles away and they have several super nice showers available at their truck stop!
The barn lounge has a fridge and microwave, ceiling fan for relaxing and watching the lessons and horse training! Sign up for a few lessons for a fee while you are here! (when an instructor has an opening, must book in advance) Bring your own horses and ride the trails!
**Warning** there are a few weeks mid Summer when the deer flies are swarming and the trails are not good for riding horses!
WE DO NOT HAVE 30amp electrical hook ups but many large RV's turn off hot water heaters and use propane on their fridges and the 20 amp circuit was plenty to power the rest of their RV or use generators!

Stephen was a great host and the property is very nice. If you are tent camping you have some tables, chairs, a fire pit, and lots of flat easy to pitch space.
A bathroom, water, shower and cats are available as well. Be aware there is a road nearby so there is a bit of road noise.

This was such a fun place to stay! The weather wasn't the best the week I was there, rainy and cold. But nevertheless the experience of staying at a working stable was fun.
Every morning the horses get fed, then let out of their stables into the fields. And every evening they get brought back in.
I stayed around the back of the main stable next to the juvenile pen. They have 2 youngsters who I ended up making friends with.
If you can't tell I'm not a horse person. But being able to stay at Sun Valley, I'm learning to love them! Definitely worth the stay.
Note: you're staying amongst the stables, so expect flies and smells. Enjoy the atmosphere! It's all part of the experience!

Jessica and Scott were amazing hosts. Lots of wildlife to see as well as chickens and some loving dogs. WiFi was very fast. They also had a nice bathroom with a hot shower. The city of Dublin was cute with lots of different restaurants.

Dwayne is a great host he went out of his way to make sure we got to our site even when we didn’t arrive until 9pm. We awoke in the morning to peaceful surroundings with goats , cows , horses and a few mules in the next field over along with the sounds of peacocks in the distance. Heavenly peace 🙏🙏

Country farm living at its best. Holly and her family were so welcoming and kind. We brought our puppy companions and they had a blast with the horses. We will definitely be staying there again.

The people there were great we had no problem being directed to where we could set up camp my grandson loved the horses he was allowed to go around to all the stables and pastures and seed and Pat and love on the horses we also want to thank Miss Mary Blake for his very first horseback riding lesson and it was just awesome we had a great time very relaxing everybody was kind and helpful Miss Holly was great she answered all of my questions even when she was at work we loved it to sum it up in a few words we loved it we will be going back

Nice primitive camp site. There was some traffic noise but not distracting and there is still storm damage to the trails. Mary was welcoming and helpful. Overall an enjoyable camp.

A pleasant experience of seclusion, some traffic noise in the background though not excessive. Not to far from the interstate 95 grind and extremely close to the classic US 1 east coaster route.
Warmer temperatures than the states above, an early start to springtime. I wasn't bothered by a dog barking like someone else mentioned though I did hear one in the distance when visiting one of the other campsites. All in all the hipcamp is well worth the cost with a nice host & cozy feeling.

What a great experience! My wife has always been crazy about horses. I was looking for a place to stay while we were in the area for her father's funeral. I thought Holly's place would be perfect. It was! During the small windows of time that we were able to be at the camp, she was visiting horses. I arranged a riding lesson with Mary Blake which took place as we were about to head home. She said it was a better experience than she could have ever imagined under the circumstances. Thank you Holly!

Responsive host particularly via text, delightful get away.
Pine cove is situated at the end of the South loop as seen on the map to access it you have to drive as far as you can until you park and then you have to hike the rest of the way in it's not really that long of a walk but know that the initial stretch is a little bit low-lying and can be a bit soggy it's not terribly troublesome if you're used to being outside, though.
If you are worried about hearing any road noise I would think that the other campsite or the car campsite might have a little less noise pollution but even still it was relatively quiet a side of the occasional dog noise.
A property itself is lovely and was a delight to stroll about and enjoy.
There was plenty of downed trees to use for wood on site to keep warm.
I will likely return.

Great host. Friendly. She gave us her best but the hurricane downed lots of trees on the trail. We made the trek around the property and even stopped for lunch on a log. Very primitive camping if you’re looking to stay the night. But great hiking trail for beginners to the woods. Thanks for allowing us to explore. 🫶🏾
