Our 10x12 foot canvas safari tent offers a cozy 120 sq ft of space which can accommodate a twin size mattress in addition to the provided queen bed.

Guest access
Folklore Forest is on 3 acres and has 270 feet of River Frontage at your disposal. Little River is considered to be the purest, natural flowing river in the state. Bring your fishing gear and kayaks. Sit on the rocks at the base of the waterfall under the rhododendrons and holly trees, and wade in the water in the warm months.
Park on the side of the road in front of the Cynefin sign. There are solar lights illuminating the path to the tent if you arrive after dark. There you will find a that you can use to bring your luggage down.
Other things to note
• The river will rise and fall depending on how much rain we are getting. It tends to be lower late summer to early fall. We cannot guarantee water levels.
• This is primitive off grid camping. There's no electricity or running water. We recommend bringing a portable battery pack to charge devices.
• Please be respectful of any wildlife (there are white tail deer, raccoons, weasels, harmless black snakes, mink, foxes, coyotes, many birds, and the extremely, and we do mean extremely, rare black bear), while fishing in the little river is allowed, hunting is prohibited.

Hut or Tent, your choice. We just added the tent platform and it is your choice as to tent platform or Hut. They are about a football field away from each other. Get away from it all on a secluded mature wooded hill twenty minutes from the Ococee River. You can feel how old the Appalachian mountains are here. Remote enough and private but no 4WD needed (flat terrain to parking) and enough neighbors if needed (road running through property leads to subdivision by Apalachia Lake so has traffic on it.) To the right of the road is a creek and bog, to the left we have several acres of woods to explore and relax in. You will see an occasional car on the private road that runs below the Hut but on the hill, you will have complete privacy. Please note we have not yet added a firepit or compost toilet to the tent platform so you will be needing to go to the Hut for both of those. You can get to the Hut from the Platform along the road or through the woods. It is a beautiful place to chill and hang out that we are happy to share with you.
Three of ten acres to the right of the road that runs through our property are a bog that runs along a creek with the creek joining wild remote Apalachia Lake. (Pretty much unpassable Nature saying keep out.) But enjoy hiking and exploring our seven gently sloping mature wood hills. There are also lots of well maintained dirt hillside roads for exploring or biking.
Enjoy our Baba Yaga hut with only the bare necessities but you will be flat, dry and able to enjoy the woods all to yourself. Or the Tent Platform pretty much complete privacy. When one is rented, we take the other off the calendar so you get the entire place to yourself.
Come explore and then chill away from it all.

Absolutely amazing stay would definitely come back! Ralph was responsive and we had pretty much unlimited wood along with use of the common room all to ourselves. It was an amazing location for tent camping with the creek lulling us to sleep both nights.

Another incredible stay at Rest and Relax Retreat ! I try to get up here and tent camp at least every 2 to 3 weeks. Ralph does have a couple of cabins that you can rent also but…I prefer tent camping, especially in the winter right next to the creek. As usual, it exceeded my expectations just with the beauty of the place and all the nice accommodations that Ralph provides…such as, a canopy for each tent site, a smokeless fire pit for each site, and a hammock and picnic table also for each site, oh, and did I mention the common house… where there is a seating area with plenty of outlets to recharge your phone or power station if need be, while you enjoy a cup of coffee from the provided Keurig, coffee, sugar and cream, included and or, take a hot shower at one of two bathrooms inside the common house. He also provides firewood at no charge. Most of the time I have so much wood left over that I can’t even burn it all in the weekend stay ! But if I do run low, it is no problem. I can text Ralph or usually before he turns in for the evening… he will do his walk around to each site. Making sure that everyone has anything and everything that they need, before he himself turns in for the night. The land is beautiful, so are his dogs and his goats. You won’t go wrong if you choose this place… relax by the creek 10 feet away, with a campfire going just in front of you, to soothe your anxieties away. Thank you so much again Ralph for everything!

This site was perfect! Ralph had everything set up for us in advance a canopy, chairs, hammock, fire pit, and all the wood we could need. Loved the trickle sound of the stream at night. Was surprised the price included all the extras. The common area was brand new and clean. We would definitely camp here again or in one of the cabins.

Francisco was very welcoming and I felt at ease. I didn’t spend too much time at the campsite except to sleep, but it was nice to be in the woods at night and still have access to a modern-rustic toilet/sink. He offered to give me an awning during the rain as well, which I saw too late haha but was appreciated.

Ralph has put together the perfect camping spot. Falling asleep by a babbling creek beside the fire - under the stars - was the best way I can think of to end a day. We climbed the hill out back to the top where a picnic table was waiting. The smokeless fire pit was so neat.

I had a great time, resting and relaxing in my tent! Ralph, the host, was extremely accommodating. The views were absolutely spectacular! The fresh air was great! Waking up in the morning, drinking coffee next to the creek! Resting at night, creekside, beside a campfire was glorious! The common area was extremely clean and inviting. Being able to go over and take a hot shower, while recharge my power station was great! Thank you so much Ralph! I will be back very soon and… I recommend this place easily, to anyone who just wants to rest, relax, and enjoy the peace and quiet of nature. Go, and recharge your body, mine and soul!

Ralph is the perfect host. He provided us with free wood and had everything set up for us when we got in. Once we were settled he checked in to make sure we were pleased with the place, which we were completely! He walked his dog and checked the perimeter trail at night and keeps a quiet, clean, and peaceful place. We have camped many places but I will say this has to be my favorite. The bath house is the nicest I’ve ever seen. 2 full baths and an awesome living space to hang out in. We absolutely loved it here. Lots of privacy and right on the river. We got to sleep hearing the river flow all night. Perfect camping trip

We booked a campsite at another place and when people started acting shady we decided to leave for our safety and found this spot.
We arrived after dark which I try not to do but we had nowhere else to go and with short notice Ralph was extremely welcoming and understanding of our situation.
This experience was one of a kind. I've used hipcamp all over the country and this experience was something we will never forget.
The campsites are spaced out along a beautiful piece of land with firewood, zero gravity chairs, hammock, picnic tables, canopy and amazing common area with very clean bathrooms that had showers with hot water!
In the short time he had to get prepared for us he had everything ready for us and gave us a tour of where everything was. Ralph took us down to the site, got our fire going, gave us a lantern, and set up our chairs so we could set up camp again that evening. He even had towels and rags waiting for us to take a shower the next morning!
If you want to truly rest and relax this man's goal is to make it happen for you. He has put a lot of effort into this place and it shows from the moment you arrive to when you leave. Don't pass this place up if you are looking for somewhere to camp in the area especially if you've been camping for several day's already like us and in need of a shower!
We will be coming back for years to come and appreciate Ralph sharing this great place with us!

What an amazing stay! There are too many good things to say from the value to the quality and care put into this place.
Ralph has thoroughly planned the camp sites ensuring everything is well thought out. The tall grasses create a great buffer for sound and privacy, and walking paths are very well maintained and lights are clearly directing you around the campus.
New and spotless amenities! (Bathhouse, hammock, chairs, canopy, etc) very clean and even provided coffee in the common house. He even hand delivered wood and started our fire, AND setup a canopy over our hammock because of the rain prior to arrival. He was an amazing host.
We were napping RIGHT next to the creek. The peaceful sounds were so soothing. I’m a pretty big critic and this place FARRRR exceeded my expectations. I only wish we could have stayed longer, but we’ll be back!
Places like this make me so grateful for Hipcamp!

The best thing about this site is the hospitality! The property owner greeted us and helped us find the electric hookups, the water, and the restroom - he was also very responsive to any questions I had. However, they rent out 2 spots so if you have a large tent I do not recommend getting the smaller spot, because it is very small and the adjacent landowners are very close and have a dog that barks nonstop all night. The large camping spot is amazing and removed from the barking dog. We stayed in both spots and the small spot was very difficult to fit into because I have a large tent. Overall I recommend it because it’s a great location near town and I live in Acworth and only took about half hour to get there, but it’s also fairly remote near Red Top mountain.
Pros: amenities, hospitality, convenience to town, great room to spread out if you get the good site.
Cons: houses very close by, just off noisy road, limited space if you get the smaller site
