Goat House Farm is a 501(c)3 owned micro-farm in a rural area of Tallahassee on the beautiful Lake Talquin. The farm has its humble beginnings in the summer of 2015 with four acres, four goats, and four chickens. Founded on the love of animals and a passion for sustainability, we remain committed to compassionate practices and the most natural care of our land and animals as possible. As stewards of the land and herd, we believe we have a responsibility to share nature's blessings. We offer several agritourism opportunities on the farm, from farmstays to day visits. Our primary program is to serve area youth with agricultural education and the opportunities to work with our goats. All proceeds from bookings go toward our programming. To support that endeavor, we sell chicken eggs, specialty cottage goods, honey, and natural goat milk and honey products. I am offering short term rentals of my houseboat this season. It is located on the Apalachicola River about 1 mile upstream of NEAL LANDING near Blountstown and only accessible by motor boat or paddle vessel. The houseboat is in a fixed location and does not move. It is furnished with 2 beds, a futon, and a loft for extra sleeping space and there is a generator for power. THIS IS A PRIMITIVE CAMP, NOT A LUXURY RESORT STAY. You have to bring gasoline for the generator if you want power. The beds have mattress covers and sheets but you should bring your own sleeping bag and pillow cover. You relieve yourself at the boat ramp porta-potty ~1 mile away or in a (compostable) bag inside a 5 gallon bucket with a toilet seat lid out back and put it in my compost bin or haul it out with your trash. You have to bring in bottled drinking water or a Sawyer filter for the river water. There is a propane stove/oven, a charcoal grill and also a fire pit out front if you bring wood or collect it. There is an (outside) propane instant hot water heater with a shower head and a privacy screen if you need to get clean and don't want to hop in the drink. Service is spotty with AT&T but I get a few bars here and there. My goal here is to offer a unique experience and a code to the door for you to use it for the agreed time frame, not provide everything for you. I would be charging more for each stay if that were the case because it would be a real challenge for me to get to it and keep it stocked. If you come prepared for an enjoyable camping trip you will have a great time, if you come with nothing you will probably not. This would be my first time renting it out and so I do not have all of the logistics sorted, but I'd be willing to talk to someone and see if we can work something out if more reasonable amenities/comforts are required. This is an awesome camp for duck hunting or fishing weekend with enough room for a few buddies to drink some beer in the evening and relax, and this is NOT some random cash grab rental property. This is my personal camp retreat that I only want to share with people who are going to be respectful of it and the river. More photos coming soon.

Weekend Trip to White Oak Pastures

Loved the very private campsite and the farm is amazing. Can explore anywhere on the property and don’t have to leave for anything if you just want to explore and hike. Will definitely be back when I want to just unplug and relax. All amenities provided. And while it’s a bit expensive for camping it’s more like having your own private cabin. Highly recommend!

2 nights at Goat House Farm

The Goat House Farm provided the perfect yet affordable getaway for my partner and I. The farm consisted of friendly goats, adorable chickens, and a dog named Tobi that made us feel right at home. The location of the farm was great, as we were able to go to various springs and state parks during our 2-night stay. The cabin included all the necessities and was comfortable. The host, Melissa, was very sweet and welcoming. It was a short hike to the lake that provided even more beautiful scenery. We quickly made friends with the orange cat that hung out outside the cabin, played fetch with Tobi, kicked our legs up outside, and made the most of our ideal summer evenings on the farm.

This was a nice solo travel experience for me. The Rustic Cottage is very cozy, clean and stocked with almost everything you'd need (i.e. cookware, spices, body wash). Goat yoga was fun and the property is serene. Horseflies were in abundance during the day but that didn't dull the experience.

It’s truly a rural experience. The host was very responsive to all questions, before and during my visit. She even offered to let me come out when the goat kids were being bottle fed. The Coop was clean, decorated just like a chicken coop, and had cold A/C. I added in the morning biscuits option which was a tasty treat as I got on the road.

This cozy, quiet cabin was the perfect retreat during our 3-day soccer tournament stay. It had everything we needed—comfy beds, a warm shower, and a peaceful setting that made it easy to relax at night. One of the best parts was getting to spend time with the goats—such sweet animals! We even got to see a newborn baby with her mom, which was such a special experience. The host was incredibly kind and welcoming, making us feel right at home. We truly couldn’t have asked for a better stay. Highly recommend this unique and charming spot!

I was in town with my adult daughter for a football game. We stayed in the cottage. What a unique and fun place! A perfect rustic getaway if you love animals. The bed was super comfortable and the cottage had every convenience needed. I call it glamping but even better. We paid for biscuits and soap that we did not receive, but in all fairness we were not around much and I did not ask before we had to leave.. I considered it to be a donation to the farm. Roosters start crowing very early in the morning. And goats have a distinct smell. Not bad, just like goat haha. We had read that in other reviews and knew what to expect and did not mind at all (knowing we were staying on a working farm).. This place is not everyone’s cup of tea, but we loved staying here.

I thoroughly enjoyed myself! With a daughter In her third year at FSU I had had enough of college town. And staying At the goat Farm was perfect. Just a Short drive into town, then back to the peace and quiet of nature. I had a nice hike with Toby the farm dog. And we both got a beautiful sunset on the lake. Everyone is so kind and welcoming. And Melissa makes the best cookies ever.!
