Amazing campsite. Great views for the sunrise and sunset. The host is amazing, his dogs are even better. If you like to fish... The ponds are well stocked. I caught 3 catfish in about 20 minutes. Amazing spot

Great place to camp on the lake! Plenty of parking for the boat and close to several ramps. I plan on staying again for the next tournament on Murray. Also very nice to have the pup off leash!

It's great! Not crowded like the parks with RV's packed 15 feet away from one another and no campers walking through your campsite. The host family was super friendly. There were about 12 deer near the campsite in the morning. The kids loved seeing them.

Beautiful! Clean! The grass was so soft. Perfect for barefoot walking. Bees and dragonflies buzzing in harmony, like surround sound, while fishing. Lots of big fish being caught all around me making kids squeal and laugh. I became the personal chef for a sneaky, pond turtle who loved my bait. Taking pictures of the beauty was my favorite experience.

Very private,open space,that was nice,met Jesse n he makes you feel very welcome,he upgraded us to the treehouse cause there were ants at campsite 1,my grandchildren had a blast running everywhere. I was at easy with my shepherd there once he met Jesse's animals,big worry cause I just never know how he will be with other dogs

I tent camped in Site 8 with friends for a cycling event.
The site was spacious, the restroom and shower facilities were clean and well maintained.
I have stayed at Big Creek a few times and it's always a great experience.

Jesse was welcoming, the nights were quiet and filled with deer. The site was well maintained, considering the tall grass surrounding the site there were no ticks, the lake was visible and just a short walk through the woods. Good combo of openness and sunshine with woods and shade.

We had a very relaxing weekend, despite some rain. The property is very quiet, dock access was great, Scott even caught a few fish! And we were treated to some Fireworks by the neighbors. Kevin was a great host, the welcome gift was appreciated! Overall had a great weekend camping.

Weekend Trip to Big Creek RV Park of Saluda SC
The property was very well maintained with beautiful craftsmanship on the custom built bathroom and shower facilities. Nice and quiet at night without any kind of noise other than the soothing sound of owls and other nightlife and rustling leaves in the wind.

Where to go
Mistletoe State Park
This recreation area, which is home to Clarks Hill Lake, is known for its bass fishing. But that’s not all this park entails. In fact, Mistletoe State Park, about 45 minutes from downtown Augusta, offers sandy beaches, shady walking paths, and cool creeks. There are also a number of cabins, cottages, and RV sites for campers, as well as backcountry and group campsites. You can also take out boats or canoes (available to rent for overnight guests) on one of the region’s largest lakes.
Diamond Lakes Regional Park
Diamond Lakes is situated in Georgia’s Sand Hills region—a rolling, green landscape with forests and water features that are ripe for exploring. This park is a great jumping point to explore the region, with its tennis and basketball courts, fishing ponds, sand volleyball pit, picnic areas, community center, public library, and campsites. With no shortage of options for activity, Diamond Lakes is great for both day use and overnight camping.
Lake Olmstead
This lake is right in Augusta and offers both motorized and non-motorized boating. The lakefront is great for picnicking and enjoying the day, while a gazebo and walking track offer additional activity options. Another way to enjoy this lake is to kayak the Augusta canal, a trip with the Savannah River Rapids Park that takes you on a journey through the local areas and ends at Lake Olmstead.
When to go
Like other places in the southern United States, the best time to visit Georgia is in the spring and fall. During these times, the weather is cooler but still warm, so you can camp and enjoy water activities without the freezing temperatures of winter nights, nor the scorching hot days of summer.
Know before you go
- Check the prices for parking and day use at the parks you plan to visit.
- For kayaking, consider making a reservation with Savannah River Rapids in advance.
