The drive up seemed like it took forever, but it was scenic and totally worth it.

The camp sites were not too close to each other, and almost all were tucked into a sweet spot.  i don't think there's a bad site in the place!

Some sites were in trees, while others in open meadows.

There was lots of rain and water while we were there.

Beavers made their home in the waters along the hiking trail.

Even on a rainy day, we couldn't help but take a hike.

Coyote Canyon Mountain Base Camp

As the Scenic Passenger Train is heard in the distance you'll look up towards Mount Blanca and imagine your next adventure living among the wildflowers of this High Desert Mountain Hipcamp.  After recovering from a wildfire, the ancient sage brushes that had previously made the land harsh and unwelcoming are nearly gone, replaced with an abundance of grasses and wildflowers if blessed with rains.   Open Land as far as you can go to the East you'll follow the Coyote canyon to high mountain lookouts.  There are old logging maintenance roads you could take advantage of, so Hike, Bike or Motor around the local area.  Fort Garland and Blanca have a community center (pool), septic dump and water fill and can provide groceries.  The Great Sand dunes are about 45 minutes away.  The Sand Dunes swimming pool, fed by a very hot artisan well is about an hour away.  Mountain Home Lake is also within 1/2 an hour or so for fishing/water sports with a nice boat ramp.  Escape from light pollution like never before, a clear night sky will make the whole trip worthwhile!  Lots of wild life and you will most likely see some deer, hear the coyotes, and count the different colors of the humming birds.  You can book a train ride out of Alamosa, and visit the local historic towns.  The views will make it hard to leave the campsite, but there are tons of experiences and things to do in the area so make sure to do some research before you arrive.&nbsp; The weather and wind can be unpredictable in the mountains, so be prepared.&nbsp; There are two entrances onto the property, one at the bottom and one at the top.  You can avoid some wind by camping near Lewis-Smith Rd at the lowest part of the land.&nbsp; Also, the site can accommodate large trailers/RV's but just make sure to plan your entrance/exit carefully and&nbsp;don't go to far down the hills.&nbsp; Just&nbsp;choose a wise spot to park if in a big rig.&nbsp; There are some small tires around that you can use to sit on or if you dig a hole that you fill in before leaving you can make a temporary toilet.&nbsp; Make sure to haul out all your trash and leave the site cleaner than it was when you arrived and respect the land.&nbsp; If you do come across a mess from the previous camper and clean it up, just let us know and we will give you a refund for the night. Lone Spruce Camp

Located between La Veta and Cuchara on the Scenic Highway of Legends enjoy over one acre to call your own. Resting next to the Cucharas River, the flat meadow is perfect for parking your RV while you enjoy views of the surrounding mountain range. You are under a five minute drive to Cuchara Main Street and just over a ten minute drive to the quaint town of La Veta. Fishing is available at many of the nearby lakes including Bear Lake, Blue Lake, North Lake, Monument Lake, Daigre Lake, and Wahatoya Lake. Many hiking and biking trails are also in the area. Or you can visit Lathrop State Park in Walsenburg just over 30 minutes away where you can paddle board, hike, or fish. The Great Sand Dunes National Park is just one hour from this location! It is a perfect central parking spot for all of your Southern Colorado outdoor adventures while coming home to peace and serenity. The eastern boundary of this property is the Cucharas River and we own to the center point of the river. We ask that you stay within the boundaries shown on the map. Reservations up to five days max, we may allow an extended stay upon request. We do not offer any restrooms so we require you must have an RV with your own facilities. No fires permitted on property. We offer a trash bin near the entrance (shown on map). We hope you come and enjoy this beautiful location and all that Southern Colorado has to offer!

Remote Site - Sangre de Cristos

Secluded from it all! This private 7 acre land sits at 10,500 feet in the Sangre de Cristo mountain range. Surrounded by blue spruce and aspen trees with wide-open views of the skies for maximum star gazing.

Roads in are graded dirt best accessed by 4x4 or all-wheel drive. It can get muddy during rain storms and snow is possible during the summer.

Drive right in to access multiple flat spots to setup your site. Views are plentiful!

This is as rugged as it gets. This high alpine location provides stunning views and endless chill time. This location is smack-dab in the middle of one of the largest elk herds in the world. There are plenty of deer, bear and the occasional moose.

This is steep country - bring your trekking poles! There is plenty to explore on the land, plus miles of hiking on Forbes road. You'll be roughly and hour away from the Great Sand Dunes National Park, 40 mins from Ft Garland, under 2 hours to Taos, NM, and Mountain Home Reservoir is just down the road - great fishing!

Secluded Rio Cucharas Ranch

This 3+ acre property located in the Rio Cucharas Subdivision is situated just north of Lathrop State Park and just west of the town of Walsenburg.

The property is surrounded by picturesque mountain ranges and boasts stunning views of the nearby Sangre de Cristos, Spanish Peaks, Silver Mountains, Sheep Mountain, Little Sheep Mountain and Greenhorn Mountain to name a few.

The property is located on Cielo Azul Dr (identified as Cello Azui Dr on Google Maps) and has well-graded dirt/gravel road access. There is a dirt driveway off of Cielo Azul Dr to access the property (2WD accessible).

Lathrop State Park is located only 5 minutes south of the property and offers plenty of opportunities for swimming, boating, fishing, water skiing, wind-surfing and general relaxation on the beach. The lake features a number of species of fish including rainbow trout, walleye, catfish, blue gills, tiger muskies and the regrettably names crappie.

As you drive onto the property it gently slopes upwards and then flattens out for some nice camping spots and beautiful views of the surrounding area.

The property is in a very quiet and secluded area where you will not be bothered by noisy neighbors or busy roads.

Lazy Cat Valley

Beautiful views, stargazing, gem hunting, seclusion.  We have just started and have Lots of plans to grow, but right now we are just land. Solar system in place to charge phones, there is outdoor water to cook with and drink. No wood fires are permitted at this time, but you're welcome to bring over a propane firepit. Our property is on a 7 mile dirt road, so please keep that in mind prior to booking. Your RV/Car can make it, you just need to go slow. There are so many prairie dogs on the beautiful drive to our property, lots of cows too. On our property there are bunnies, mule deer, and more!

Ninzan-ji, Patient Mountain Temple

A meditation retreat in the middle of the southern Colorado mountain wilderness. Pine trees as far as the eye can see. 20 miles/40 minutes northwest of Trinidad. Black bear capital of the world. Mountain lion, bobcat, coyote, fox, elk, deer, and more live here. We share this space with them and do no harm. There are paths and private spots throughout the property.

RADZ Retreat

RADZ Retreat is our personal get away and we long to be good stewards of the land and share it with you.  There are 2 full RV hooks ups with 30, 50, and 20 Amps each with water and dump.  There is also 1 dry camping spot and you can use water and dump on site.  There are 35 acres to hike and watch wildlife.  We are a short 5 min drive to Lathrop and into Walsenburg.  There is a 200 ft elevation hike to enjoy beautiful views of the Spanish Peaks and Cuchara river valley.  Be on the look out for elk, deer, turkey and more.

Just a few minutes (off-grid) west of Walsenburg, Colorado, with a fabulous 360 degree view of the surrounding mountains from our 3 acre lot right on La Deora Blvd./CR 504 (just off Hwy 160).  Lathrop State Park (2 lakes), the Spanish Peaks Medical Center Hospital&nbsp;and the Walsenburg Golf Course are&nbsp;only 5 minutes from the lot. You can drive to the Great Sand Dunes Park in about an hour.&nbsp; Here on the ranch land you can hike, bike, 4-wheel, ride your horses, snowmobile and watch the deer and the antelope play.  Hunter's are welcome, but not on the ranch land. There is hunting and fishing on State Trust Lands and Wildlife Areas here in Huerfano County.

You'll have clear views of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains, The Spanish Peaks, Silver Mountain (AKA Baldy), Sheep and Little Sheep Mountains and Greenhorn Mountain...&nbsp; Not to mention star filled skies...   

At this time our septic and water are not completed so you'll want to stay with your self-contained RV.  I am building a house now at the top of the hill but, no one lives there.

Sangre de Cristo Mountain RV Escape

This is a beautiful 10 acre campground away from everything. There are 2 spots to camp with tank water and sewer hookup. Only 12 ft and under trailers are allowed due to space constraints. There is hunting allowed and 4000 acres of BLM land behind this property. 4WD is recommended but we have made it up during warmer months with 2WD. Camp at your own risk, there is wildlife about and steep cliffs. There is also a 1.5 mi walking trail. This area is not managed regularly. If you are unable to make it due to washouts, etc. your money will be refunded. Phone service is spotty. You must take all trash with you. If you like to be away from it all, THIS IS FOR YOU. You won't see more than 1 other cars per day. Lock code for water is 1627.

Haven Hill

Thirty-five private natural acres high above Scenic Byway CO165. A secluded mountain top with privacy. You will be overlooking the beautiful Greenhorn Valley, with wide open views of Greenhorn Mountain and the Spanish Peaks. The stars at night are often breathtaking. It feels like you are on an island in the sky. It’s conveniently close to lakes, hiking, outdoor activities and supplies, restaurants and gas stations. Several roundabouts exist for turning around large vehicles. RV sites are pull through. For digital Nomads, Cell phone and satellite service is good here. ATV's are welcome on designated roads and trails. 

Fires are allowed. But PLEASE check https://www.pueblo.us/2602/Fire-Restrictions. Fires must be in campfire circles only! PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU FULLY DROWN YOUR CAMPFIRE BEFORE YOU LEAVE. Dead wood on the property is OK to burn but please do not burn your trash. All trash and waste needs to be packed out. There are trash cans and restrooms at the rest stop at I-25 and Highway 165. Firewood is available to purchase nearby in Colorado City at Ace Hardware and others.

You will have your choice of Camp site #1 and/or #2. They have flat mulched areas for an RV/Camper or for tent camping. Each has a fire ring and picnic table. Both sites allow room to turn around an RV or camper. Bring your own toilet for now. There is minimal shade available, so plan accordingly. Potable water is available at the blue ground hydrant in front of the little cabin to the west. It takes about 10 seconds to start running.

Use of firearms is prohibited. No fireworks are allowed. 

Quiet time is after 10:00 p.m. Please be respectful of neighboring properties. remember you are on a hilltop so sound can travel :)

Mountain creek camp

Driving a short while on a dirt path leads into a nice area surrounded by many willow trees of the area, around a turn on the dirt path opens up to a large open area. The open area consists of fine soil, lots of dry grass during the winter and and a dry creek at the edge of the property. This area is great for camping and listed activities. The nearby town has much much more to do in nature featuring fishing, camping, horseback riding and hiking. The property is on the other side of the creek. Be careful of spiky ground plants. Have fun and enjoy all that there is available! Please leave nature as it was when you arrived!
