We are closed for the season. PLEASE READ IN ITS ENTIRETY The Rabbit Hole Ranch offers beautiful night skies with little to no light pollution and unobstructed views of the majestic Blanca Massif. The Great Sand Dunes and Zapata Falls is just a (gorgeous) 35 minute drive. Camping here at the Rabbit Hole Ranch is primitive and dispersed (no numbered sites) and there 30 acres available for you to use. Just follow the signs to the designated area and pick out a spot you like. Some spots have fire rings, some don’t. We are working on getting more, but in the meantime you’re welcome to bring your own. Or feel free to dig out a little hole. It works great and is easy to extinguish when you fill it back in and bury it. Please do not bury any trash. Typically, you will experience a rare kind of solitude and silence that feels…. other-worldly, with incredible sunrises and sunsets filling the enormous skies. On holidays, however, expect it to be busy. Our dogs are working dogs and they are more than happy to help keep you and your pets safe. Please help make their jobs easier by not leaving any food or trash in or around tents. Please keep your pets on leash or under control until you’re comfortably certain they get along with our dogs. And please report any issues promptly. This year we have a new Great Pyrenees to greet you, her name is Boudicca and she’s excited to meet everyone! Returning this season is 12 year old KayLee, also a GP and and Finn, our little dude from Alaska. Quiet time begins at 10:00 pm. Note: Holidays still offer the excellent location and spectacular views, but are likely to be less quiet and far more busy. We typically do not strictly enforce quiet time during holidays.

Welcome to the San Luis Valley; the largest Alpine Valley in the world! San Luis Valley is a region in south-central Colorado with a small portion overlapping into New Mexico. Great Sand Dunes are visible from every site. With unlimited mountain views, beautiful starry night skies, come see the Milky Way, Eclipse, even Meteor showers!!! History: this land was originally part of a large cattle ranch in the 1980s. The main ranch is still up and running but this parcel was used for many purposes over the years. In 2021, we were featured in USA Todays Ten Best for star gazing! My property has 360 degree mountains views with the Sangre de Cristo Mountain Range as our back yard. Nearby you can find many different trail systems for all kinds of outdoor enthusiasts. From hiking to jeeping, ATV or dirt biking and equestrians - you can find it all! You will be surrounded by BLM land, BACA land, and Wildlife Refuge just two miles away. Be sure to bring extra bug spray and protection needed against biting insects such as flies, gnats, and mosquitoes. For those bringing your pets, they MUST be on a leash/lead at all times. While I do not have much cactus on my property, I do have an abundance of greasewood (Chico brush) which is very thorn-like if stepped on. Accommodations for those with livestock or horses, just make sure you chat in advance your initial message. Close to BLM, and National Forest as well as 3 hot springs within 20 miles and the Great Sand Dunes. We are still under construction and making changes often so bear with us while we continue to add and change things for the better!

Please know that we are not an RV park, nor do we want to be. We have only three sites overlooking the lower river corridor. This is intentional because we want your experience to be focused on the beauty of the ranch. The sites are flat and relatively private. Each site is 26x80 (easy pull through) with individual access to power (50 amp, 30 amp and 110 outlet) and water. There is common area that includes a large firepit, small table and charcoal grill for your enjoyment. You also have immediate access to a septic system station next to the sites, at your convenience. The Scott ranch is a working ranch. Absolutely gorgeous area, would definitely recommend. Be advised that it’s a rough road to get there though, I tried taking my 2004 Honda accord not realizing how poor the road conditions were and almost got stuck several times as it was raining and muddy when we first arrived.

Camp Catori was exactly what we didn’t know we were looking for—the perfect retreat from Denver. The view of Blanca Peak is absolutely breathtaking, and we could have happily spent the whole day just relaxing, reading, and napping on the outdoor sectional while soaking it in. Amazing location with great mountain views! Sites are spread out so you have plenty of privacy! Our dog loved all the open space she had as well. The 3 working dogs were super friendly and checked up on us throughout the stay. Highly recommend!

Easy to find, great view, and the firepit setup was a big plus. Recently stayed in during a fairly large downpour and the roads were still passable with ease the following day.

Loved RHR! We were the only ones there, which made it really nice and peaceful. The stars were amazing and the working doggos came to hang out with us frequently throughout the day and keep us safe from coyotes. Directions in the reservation and signs along the way were clear and we got there with no problem. We also drove an AWD Subaru Impreza and didn’t have any issues on the road.

Weekend Trip to Campe Diem!

Perfect desert style camping! Bring your own shade! ☀️ Thank you for providing water with large tank for the unbeatable camping bathroom experience! A flush toilet and a HOT shower under the incredible starry skies are unmatched! The lake is a 3 min drive or a small hike away. You cannot swim in this lake but there's plenty of beach and you can still fish and be on-water! The small town aboit 12 mins away is perfect for any last minute or forgotten quick grabs. A perfect get away without getting too far away!

Lance is an exceptionally courteous and responsive host. His land is truly spectacular. It's a private paradise for people that want to get off the beaten path with a camper. The river is beautiful and this spot it is totally worth the price. It may not be everyone's cup of tea without the amenities of a campground/RV park, but if you don't want all that and are looking for quiet breathtaking views, with space for your fur babies to frolic through fields and swim in the river, this place is for you. I'm so grateful I was able to spend time here and will likely return next year!

It was an incredible place. It was a much needed haven that had beautiful views. It was a perfect distance away from everything but was close enough to the sand dunes, it was perfect. The night views were absolutely incredible and the place itself was very well kept up. I loved my stay and would absolutely recommend to anyone

Loved our weekend getaway at The Louie Lodge! Was the perfect little house to enjoy being off the grid! The deck had gorgeous views of the mountains for morning coffee and yoga. Our dogs loved running around the property. 10/10 trip.

2 nights at AIYM Camp Riverfront Duplex Cabin!

AIYM Camp is an amazing place; I highly recommend it. It’s a beautiful setting, every aspect of the facilities is in amazing condition, clean, functional and seems brand new. But, what really made our stay special was the hospitality of Jim and Melony. The are so warm and welcoming, giving us insight about the valley and activities in the area. This is a special place that we plan on returning to. I give it my highest recommendation.

We had a lovely time at Rabbit Hole Ranch! Directions were clear, the land was beautiful and well maintained, and the dogs and stars were the highlight of our trip! Felt very safe. Highly recommend! Only thing is the porta potty is kinda far away to walk to, you might want to drive, but it wasn’t too much of a hassle. Thanks Jen, KayLee, and Finn!

Weekend Trip to Rabbit Hole Ranch

Jen’s campsite exceeded our expectations! It was true camping with ease! I’m glad we drove in our truck, as we literally off roaded to the spot we wanted. It could get a little tricky out there if we didn’t have a lifted vehicle, I presume. The views are incredible and every morning and evening we couldn’t believe that we were lucky enough to experience it! We walked around the flats, I’m guessing it was once a lake, but there is lots of room to roam. The night sky was absolutely incredible- I have never seen so many stars and milky way! It was primitive camping, so don’t expect the toilet to be close by- we didn’t care. It was very quiet out there- lots of coyotes in the distance, but we felt safe with Jen’s dogs on patrol! Bring lots of stakes as the wind was vicious at points. Short drive to sand dunes and zapata falls, both equal distance in either direction. We grabbed a spot with a fire ring- first come, first serve. Lots of space between sites. We didn’t see the host, so we didn’t feel like we were being micro managed or anything. A couple campers came and went, but everyone was very respectful of lights out/quiet time at 10p! The site was exceptionally clean. We would absolutely come back again.
