Blanca which was one of the sacred mountains of the Navajo. All lakes are in walking distance. Most UFO sitings in the world from the 1500s. Only 15 minutes to zapata falls and The great Dunes national Park. A Primitive open camping experience Campers and rvs and tents welcome. Only 15 minutes to the town of Alamosa where there is a Walmart and grocery stores etc

Beautiful remote getaway

Tent · With pets

Outstanding experience! This location is very remote, so you must drive down very bumpy dirt and grass roads to get there. My Xterra did just fine in dry conditions. The remoteness of this location rewards you with outstanding views, starry night skies, and no one else in sight. We got to choose right where we wanted to tent camp because it is a spacious area. We also found that with this location being close to the Blanca wetlands and right next to a lake, it is also a great and unique location for birdwatching. We also saw cool lizards, a hawk, rabbits, and a beautiful glover’s silkmoth. I also liked the close proximity to the Great Sand Dunes where we stopped by on our way back home. The host was communicative, kind, and helpful, and values respecting the land, which we appreciate. Great time!

Tent

Absolutely gorgeous area, would definitely recommend. Be advised that it’s a rough road to get there though, I tried taking my 2004 Honda accord not realizing how poor the road conditions were and almost got stuck several times as it was raining and muddy when we first arrived.
