Lovely property right above the river! The host is kind and thoughtful. I appreciated the self serve check in as I arrived very late after a long day of driving. There are a variety of sites, and I was lucky to be upgraded to the beautiful Perch! It has a private deck overlooking the river, comfy bed + electricity, access to sweet bathhouse with shower+toilet. My pup and I enjoyed the whole property to ourselves and spent a lot of time by the water. It's clear there is a lot of care for the space. HIGHLY recommend!

I had an incredible stay at this riverfront camp. The property itself is beautiful, peaceful, clean, and right on the water. Michael, the host, was extremely hospitable and kind. You can tell he truly cares about the land and the people who come to enjoy it. Waking up to the sound of the Trinity and being able to step out and swing flies right from camp was unreal. I managed to bring a few nice steelhead to the net without ever having to leave the property. If you’re a fisherman, this place is gold. If you’re a family looking for a quiet place to relax, swim, explore, and enjoy the outdoors, it’s perfect for you too. Highly recommend. I’ll be back.

Weekend Trip to The Swimming Hole On Red Cap Creek

We ended up being the only campers on an early November day, so Wayne graciously let us choose whichever site we liked. We pitched our tent right by the communal fire pit and picnic tables instead of a designated site. The ground was easy to drive stakes into, and Wayne even offered more substantial stakes in case they were needed. His sweet dog (Cowboy) and horse (Coco) paid some very welcome visits. They're sneaky for treats, so watch your back! ;) A hose is nearby that supplies filtered fresh spring water, and the toilet room is very convenient. The hot showers were down due to some construction, but we enjoyed our stay a lot! We would recommend this place as a nice getaway, or as a stop on your way to the redwoods or Eureka (we did both).

2 nights at The Swimming Hole On Red Cap Creek

This property is beautifully set with views of the mountains and forests all around (we got an amazing sunset!) and a stream / swimming hole with little beach right below. The hosts were incredibly welcoming, meeting us when we arrived to help us get situated, talking with us (also giving plenty of space and alone time, but always available and helpful if we needed anything), even offering fresh fruit and vegetables from their trees and garden. They have a friendly dog and horse which roam the property. Our stay was very enjoyable, peaceful, and relaxing. The only possible downside is that it's somewhat challenging to get to--it's remote, and the handful of miles toward the end down a narrow, winding, at times unpaved (in one relatively short stretch, and then once on the property itself) road with occasional places to pass were a nail-biter, especially driving an RV--but the drive in and out was incredibly scenic and worth the experience in between.

We stayed at Michael’s property right on the Trinity River, and it was a great experience. The directions were easy to follow, making it simple to find. The campground was clean, and the host was friendly and helpful. The best part was having the entire site to ourselves, which was a huge plus. River access was convenient, and we spent plenty of time by the water. There’s also plenty of shade around the property to set up your tent. The only thing to mention is that the campsite is fairly close to the boat launch, so you might hear some activity during the day. Other than that, it’s an excellent spot to camp.

My boyfriend and I stayed at Trinity Wilderness Outpost on Labor Day weekend and had a great time. The campsites were spacious and beautiful. The hosts were super helpful and friendly. It was nice having flushing toilets, a small sink area to do dishes, and potable water. We did this trip by ourselves, but would totally come back with a bigger group after seeing the size of the campsites. The drive wasn't bad at all, and totally worth it. We love the early check in and check out, which made us feel relaxed about our timing and not on a rigid schedule.

Definitely a hidden gem! Quite a long drive on the dirt road to get to the location. Checked in at the Deerlick Springs Store and then was escorted further into the campground to reach our reserved spot. We had first pick of about 6-7 spots because we arrived before anyone else. We chose the very end spot next to the swimming hole, which our dogs loved. End of Aug, the water was low, but we still enjoyed every moment. Potable water and restrooms were very close, and the campground was very quiet despite the holiday weekend because the spots were so spread out. We want to return in June next year when the creek is higher. It was a beautiful place and the hosts were amazing!

RIGHT ON THE RIVER! Fish jumping right in front of you. I caught a little rainbow every morning I was there off a tiny fly. Too small to keep but the experience was amazing. There are big fish in the river too but were too wise to what I was fishing with. Its right by the boat launch so you can take your floatables and cruze down the river as long as you have a ride back to camp. We had an awesome time, a gem on the trinity river!

It was an amazing experience in touch with nature mineral springs. The creek beds surrounding you are so peaceful to wake up to and the stars absolutely beautiful…. It seemed sketchy at first because it’s truly up in the forest and the drive is long but totally worth it: take note make sure you have everything you need and want there are no stores or gas stations near. We didn’t see anything but dear….no animals at night to worry about. It’s definitely a place you want to stay a week or so at just to take it all in….. We definitely are going back! New favorite spot thanks Carrie you are awesome!!!!!

This place is AMAZING!! We will be back the first chance we get. Well worth a 9 hour drive with 2 adults and 3 dogs in a compact car. They had everything ready for us when we arrived. The kitchen is complete with a pantry full of spices and staples. They have dishes and silverware. A griddle and a hot plate to cook on if you don’t want to cook over ther fire. They even have an espresso/cappuccino maker. Loved the coffee maker in the tent. They have paddle boards,canoes and fishing poles to use at your leisure. It’s stunningly beautiful here! So much so, we stayed an extra day! It’s easy access to the river from the camp right around the corner. Our dogs liked it so much , I’m having trouble getting the last one in the car. We had the best time! Dreading going back to the city. Going back to a heat wave. Bummer! At least when I get back to work, I will have purpose. To keep working to save enough to come back! Thank you so much for a much needed break from L.A. and the best most memorable vacation EVER! This place is the best. Will never camp again. For us, it’s Glamping or nothing. We loved every second of our stay in Wayne's property! the creek all to ourselves was simply perfect our dog enjoyed the freedom of running around freely and being able to play in the creek. the weather and the views were perfect. we caught some rain which just amazing it was just fresh and i definitely would recommend this to anyone looking to get away. it's about 2 hour off the nearest highway but i didn't mind the scenic drive.

It’s a bit of a trek to get to, but well worth it. It’s absolutely gorgeous. A creek runs past all camp sites that I’m aware of. We took our niece and nephews camping for their first time; they had a blast. The owners are very kind and caring. They even picked up smores ingredients for us upon request during their shopping trip. Very above and beyond. There is running water and pretty nice bathroom facilities. First time I’ve seen flushing toilets in the middle of the forest. Pretty impressive. There’s also a cool old lodge that the kids liked exploring. The small creek had a pond-like area where I could stand in the water, and a small school of fish around the size of my pinky came to investigate me. They came right up to my feet and would bump into me. There had to have been around 20 of them. Pretty neat to stand in the water and just watch them explore around you. There is no cell phone signal for any carrier that I know of. There is WiFi, but only near the general store, which is by the campground entrance. So you have to be near the store to use it. Honestly, kind of nice to have a break from the phone. Overall, it was a really awesome spot. The kids were asking if we could specifically come back to this campground soon. I think that’s the biggest stamp of approval I know of.
