Weekend Trip to Earthbag Tiny House

This place is awesome!! It’s just the right amount of peaceful nature getaway with the essential amenities. I absolutely loved how dog friendly it was, especially the backyard being clear of anything sharp so my dogs could play without me worrying. The shower, grills, sink, and outdoor fire pit worked out great. It is June in the desert so temps were in the 90s/high 80s during the day. It cooled down at night + there is a ceiling fan but I would recommend bringing a little fan for the windows if you’re going on the summer. The house holds heat really well which I am sure is a huge pro in the winter but it can take a while to cool down inside if you go in the summer months. Really wasn’t too hot though, the ceiling fan helps a lot. Everything was VERY clean and Lucas even provided a clean bath towel, kitchen towel, toilet paper, paper towels, and a water jug! I would definitely recommend a vehicle with AWD or 4WD because the driveway is a bit steep and is not paved. Overall I had a great stay and already can’t wait to come back!

2 nights at Saddle Up Camp

My girlfriend and I had a great stay here! We stayed at site 11, which was very close and a great view of the horses, had a picnic table, grill, fire pit, and plenty of space. All the animals are beautiful and well taken care of by the owners. We highly recommend this place, and encourage tips for the hard work and expense the owners put in, and the lives they save and give a better life to. Thank you to TJ for being so kind and welcoming!

4 nights at DragonflyHill Desert Farm

We tented under a tree on this beautiful property. The setting was lovely, with gardening everywhere and wild bunnies at home there, too. The amenities were deluxe — the instant-on hot shower was stronger than ours at home and the outdoor kitchen was very 'mountain lodge,' with everything we might need. We loved the drive to the site, passing wind turbines and wild desert, and on two of our four nights we got a taste of wildness with the wind blowing. Talking with Andy was a pleasure.

Lovely little quiet spot about 20 minutes from Palm Springs. Spots were well kept, spacious and flat. Hosts Emma and Andy were very friendly and helpful. It does get hot there so be prepared. We made use of the large, well maintained pool to cool off (us and the new family of mama duck with her 8 ducklings 🐣). If you are looking for somewhere chilled, away from the crowds then this is for you.

Gorgeous views and very comfortable campground with nice clean toilets and showers. Well kept. Easy access. Nice hiking nearby. Friendly people. The bikers' bar nearby added a charm - we could hear a music that was not loud or obnoxious, but rather pleasant., and only during daytime. The only thing to consider is the noise from nearby highway: if you want remote quiet location to disconnect from civilization this noise, that could be heard day and night, might bother you. Overall, we liked it very much and we had a great time.

Weekend Trip to Granite Mountain

I loved this site and highly recommend! It was the perfect mix of comfort and nature for an easy getaway from the city. There's lots of options for things to do around the are. I went for a hike, found a fun thrift store, and stopped by old town Temecula on my way out. Ken was an amazing host, his site is so thoughtfully designed and equipped. Will definitely stay again!

Cindy’s place is great! So close to the downtown area and it feels very safe. Right next to the site you have 24/7 access to a very nice bathroom and shower. A great place for 2 nights for a solo traveler. Cindy was so kind and welcoming upon arrival and very prompt in communication. Would definitely stay here again!

Saddle Up Ranch is a lovely, tranquil place to camp and a horse lovers paradise. My family were amazed with the beauty of these rescued horses that all seemed so sweet and friendly. We are looking forward to come back for a trail ride. The goats are super cute.

Weekend Trip to Loomerland

We loved the sweetest dogs we ever met and all the farm animals! The baby bunnies and goats were a special treat for our kids. The dogs did bark a lot through the night and you gotta be ok with the roosters and birds all waking in the early morning, but there is something pretty cool about living with all the animals that makes that part worth it. There are also many sites with lots of shade!!! That is a big bonus. Watch out for red ants and poison oak. Sean gave us a new campsite so just check to see if they can look over your campsite for these things before you arrive.

Desert Dreamland

Our family has owned this property for nearly fifty years. We currently have one site available - “Desert Mountain Scenic Overlook” - at this time. More sites coming soon! Learn more about this site: This campsite is extremely private and serene with beautiful epic views and a wide open feel. The site is located most of the way up a small mountain but at the base of a larger one if you want to hike up to the top for even better views. You can also hike down and around to explore more of the surrounding nature preserve (over 3,000 acres completely engulfing our 20 acre property), which includes a seasonal creek, granite boulders, and miles of hiking trails. You will find wild sage and buckwheat shrubs growing all over the property, as well as vibrant seasonal wildflowers. The campsite is set far back from roads so it is very peaceful and quiet and allows you to feel free to enjoy yourselves without worrying much about noise. The large flat pad is spacious and should be able to accommodate any sized camper/trailer/RV. There is fresh potable mountain spring water and a septic hookup available at the site. There is currently no water hookup for RV’s and there is no restroom facility (we are planning to install a composting or pit toilet soon). Please come fully equipped with a Luggable Loo or something similar. Access to the site is on a maintained dirt road with cutouts for water run off. 4WD is not necessary. Please be prepared though, the road in has some narrow, hilly, curvy stretches. It could appear challenging or intimidating to people with larger rigs. If you have a class A motorhome and are hoping to visit, please message me first and let me know and we can discuss whether the road in will work for you. We are currently in the process of beautifying the area and will post more updated photos soon of the actual site. *Note: Our solar pump went out so the outdoor shower is not currently functional. Also, the site is still a work in progress so there may be some lumber and areas of the site still in the process of being completed.

Copies of our rules, registration documents, liability waiver and amenities are provided in our photos. Guests must agree to adhere to our rules and honor our cancellation policy to book with us. If you have any questions, please make an inquiry and we will get back to you very quickly. We really do love this work. LOCATION: We are located one mile down a well maintained and navigable dirt road, 20 minutes to Palm Springs, Desert Hot Springs and Palm Desert, and 15 minutes to the 10 freeway. We're near the Cabazon outlets, 2 hours to Los Angeles, San Diego, Disneyland, mountain areas, and beaches. Nearby there are local wildlife preserves, hiking and outdoor activities. We are 45 minutes to Joshua Tree and a half hour to Coachella. We truly are in the middle of nowhere and the center of everything. For folks traveling in winter, we’re considerably warmer than Joshua Tree and the High Desert. In summer we are cooler than Palm Springs. Immediate neighbors are small farmers and ranchers. Local spas and resorts are available for day use and access to their pools and ponds for as little as $10 a day ($5 seniors). We can provide space for events and entertainment for a small fee. ARRIVAL: Upon approving your reservation we'll send you a welcome message with information we need prior to your arrival to process your reservation, prepare for your arrival and provide you with check in information and accurate directions as gps apps to our location are often wrong. Please answer that initial email as soon as possible. We'll follow up with check in information and driving directions. Once in the gate, stay on the driveway and meet us on the patio with the blue shade sails. We will provide you with an approximately 15 minute orientation and tour, register you, check identification and show you to your campsite. Guests are required to fill out a liability waiver and a simple registration form. (See photos for copies of these forms.) OUR SPACE: Our land is 130 feet wide by an eighth of a mile deep in a residential neighborhood with lots 2.5-10 acres. We can see and hear our neighbors. We maintain a very quiet space but occasionally our neighbors have their own activities and events. Let us know if the neighborhood gets too noisy and we'll try to mitigate those situations. We can also provide free earplugs for those very rare occasions. Guests wanting a totally isolated experience may want to book elsewhere. DragonflyHill Desert Farm is a working farm in a wilderness area. Guests should check weather forecasts prior to arrival and assure that they have the right equipment. We have a moderate cancellation policy that allows guests to cancel 3 days prior to their arrival date to receive a refund. This allows enough time to check weather reports. There are occasional heavy rains and frequent high winds. It can get very hot in summer and reach freezing temperatures in winter. Despite our proximity to the freeway and nearby cities, and our location in a residential neighborhood, this is very much a wilderness area. DragonflyHill is not responsible for the weather. We are not a resort. Expect dry plants and patches during summer and into the fall. As a farm, we may be a bit more rustic than your typical farm to allow for shelter for local wildlife. Our cultivation methods encourage biodiversity and though we are growing food, many of our crops resemble landscaping or natural habitat rather than garden patches. Currently we have habitat viewing areas, an herb garden, an orchard, an outdoor classroom, a sheltered social distancing patio, an outdoor kitchen, meditation gardens, our (seasonal) mineral pool, community library, game boards and toys, and a tree bath. Plant varieties, wildlife and presentation may vary by season. Our farm specializes in herbs, fruit trees, desert and native plants, and edible flowers. We also grow some sprouts and microgreens indoors. We cultivate community and share what we grow with our neighbors and our guests. Guests have shared access to the outdoor kitchen and BBQ area, the orchards, gardens, patios, and grounds of the Desert Farm and Wildlife Habitat, and (for safety reasons) limited access to the pool pond and spa -both unheated. The pool pond is filled with local mineral water from our own well. The pool pond is cleaned regularly & is chlorinated. The pool pond is not cleaned daily and is shared with wildlife. including bees and birds who drink water pool side. Debris from high winds and wildlife may contribute to the pool pond environment. Currently neither the pool pond nor the spa is heated. We also have wheelchair accessible hot water outdoor showers and wheelchair accessible porta potties. The pool area is accessible to guests year round but the pool itself is winterized and unavailable from mid October through mid to late April. We work hard to keep the home well maintained & clean; we're vigilant & do due diligence with professional quarterly visits from Truly Nolen 4 Season Pest Prevention (a green company.) We doubt you'll see any unwanted critters inside or near the house or other structures during your stay, but if you do, please advise us & we will promptly address the situation. DragonflyHill Desert Farm and Wildlife Habitat is in a remote area of the desert with lots of wildlife. To help us keep wildlife OUT of the house and campsites, please keep food out of reach of critters & clean up after every meal. We affirmatively welcome children, but as this is a working farm in a wilderness area, parents will need to be vigilant of their child's safety and activity while here. We are constantly adding activities and features for children and adults. We are child friendly and we are a good location for groups. (Just message us with your details and we can tailor your stay to meet your needs.) We have 1 cat and 1 service dog. Other guests may have pets or assistance animals. Neighbors have chickens, farm animals and pets. There are a few feral cats in the vicinity as well as a variety of desert wildlife. At night you can hear the coyotes though we’ve never seen them or their tracks on our land. Common sightings of road runners, rabbits, hares, lizards, snakes, hawks, doves, desert wrens, migrating ducks (in the Spring), scorpions, mantises, crickets, mockingbirds, insects and spiders. WHO WE ARE: DragonflyHill is a community of artisans, activists, craftspeople and farmers, working together to cultivate community, develop methodologies for living and working together in ever increasing paradigms of social justice and sustainability. We are a safe and sober space that is disability and LGBTQIA affirmative, anti-racist, anti-sexist, anti-imperialist and de-colonialist, because anything else is just a bandaid. Core values of our work include attention to detail, fine craftwork and cultivating community. You don’t have to worry about packing up a bunch of camping equipment, our camp provides a 35 foot RV big enough for 6 people if you prefer a roof over your head and a place to sit down for a meal runs off a generator ( you will need to provide your own fuel. it is a 5 gallon capacity). and has indoor and outdoor lights and electrical outlets to plug in a fan or your phone and, there is a microwave to use. We have a cooler for you to use bur you will need to provide your own ice. There are dishes and utensils and a toilet. and water in and outside (You will need to bring your own blankets, sleeping bags and towels). Also provided arepropane b.b.q, propane fire ring, outdoor bench, table and camp chairs. There is enough room on this property to bring your own camper, RV or tent or ? but it must be self contained. There is no electric, water or waste hook up. If you are just looking for a place to set up your own tent, I will consider the cost to be lower. Please contact me if you may have any questions.
