Learn more about this land: Tent sites are next to the pear orchard. Choose any site. There is no need to meet with the host when you arrive. Follow the red arrows. Do not proceed the home located at 1071 Fruitridge. Look for the Hipcamp sign and red arrow markers and turn left into the orchard lane. Location: Use google maps and locate 1071 Fruitridge Rd in Placerville, CA. When you get to 1071, which is a house on the right side of the paved driveway, look for our Hipcamp sign in red, turn hard right into the orchard and follow the red arrows past a wood barn, and up to a small red shed. At this point you may camp in the meadow next to the shed or you may proceed to the next meadow over to the left (follow red arrows and look for umbrellas). We normally only have one site occupied per evening. Ocaisonally two sites will be occupied. The sites are very private and quiet as this is a large, private ranch. You can park close to your tent site. 2WD / 4WD access weather permitting. We offer 3 sites in a large meadow area. Max of 4 persons per site. RV's welcome but we do not have hookups. RV's will be parked next to our barns surrounded by pear orchards. Fresh drinking water is available in the tent meadow area. Hot showers are now available at $10 extra per nite per site. A gas BBQ is now available at a common area. Please don't move the BBQ. Deer, wild turkeys, geese aplenty. Ample walking opportunities on our ranch and wild forestlands and amazing granite rock outcrops. Visit the South Fork of the American River (you can raft in summer!) Hunt for old gold mines on our place and, maybe, find some new ones! Go wine tasting very close by (Lava Cap, Madrone, Boeger) and visit Sutter's Mill in Coloma, where gold was discovered back in 1848.

Also the American River is another nearby beauty worth exploring. There is so much nature and beauty around our area. Frolic (property name) is a wild place with nature running the show. It is quiet and beautiful. Usually cooler because it is right on the water. The dock goes out to the 4 acre pond which is stocked with Bass. You will need to keep food inside of the Cabin/Sauna because we share the space with the animals that live here. The pond is shared with one other neighbor, so you may see other people playing on the pond or hear nearby activity through the trees. It's a great place to hang your hammock and bring a good book or birdwatch. Frolic has been an adventure for me in Saying Yes to life and the rewarding challenges it brings. I fell in love with the huge grama oaks, the pristine pond and the feral overgrown everything. It has been a workin' progress and lots of time to sweat, craft, pause and listen. The property is shaped like a pint glass, running north to south, with a lovely bowl the pond sits in and an ancient meadow up behind the cabin full of apples 🍎 & pears 🍐. Up the hill, a hotter zone, more exposed with its own beauty, where we live. On the occasion, one of us may come down to the pond for a swim, especially when it's too hot up top. We will be respectful but likely just need to cool down. Frolic has been a great teacher in reminding me to PLAY, relax and go with the flow. I hope you can find the same joy and rejuvenation here.

Upwards of 40 Canada Geese goslings are hatched yearly on the grounds of HartSong.  It’s absolutely adorable to watch the little ones as they frantically paddle along behind their moms.  In addition and if you’re an early riser, you will most certainly feel blessed to observe the loving, yet stern, communications between Canada Goose parents (life- long mates) as they teach their young to fly - every morning at sunrise in the spring. head of cattle (that have never known anything other than kindness), graze the pastures beyond the pond.  Yes, they all have names and yes, they are all as sweet as can be.  Their tranquility is contagious. The "one and only" ALP campsite is large enough to accommodate 9+ large tents.  Only one camping group occupies this campsite. 4 MINUTE DRIVE TO DOWNTOWN PLACERVILLE! And a 5 min walk to the bike path that leads to downtown. The French Pasture is a beautiful campsite surrounded by an oak, plum and apricot tree. There is a small 1 minute hike through the land from the parking spot to the campsite. The camp has a wooden picnic table with a canopy. The photo shows a two person tent but the site can fit a 10x10 foot tent. A few things to consider: 1. We do have a fire pit, but the area for the fire is not leveled yet (as the camp and table section is). Coming soon! 2. There is a portable shower and portable toilet option. Hot water is not available. (See photos). 3. The freeway can be heard from the campsite. The positives: 1. Downtown Placerville is only a 3 -5 minute drive. There is also a bike trail walking distance from the campsite to downtown that is an approximate 15 minute walk. 3. Morning coffee will be provided by hosts. Off the ranch adventures are also abundant in the Sierra Nevada foothills surrounding HartSong Ranch. *The Marshall Gold Discovery State Historic Park – a 14 mile drive from your campsite, features a museum, restored historic buildings and costumed volunteers.  Gold was discovered here at Sutter’s Mill in 1848, sparking the California Gold Rush. *The American River Confluence (North Fork and Middle Fork merge) – a 10 mile drive from your campsite.  The drive down the canyon to the American River is beautifully picturesque.  Over 100 miles of hiking trails, pristine swimming holes and white water opportunities are available for those of you in search of adrenaline laced activities. *Coloma, California – world famous for its white water rafting excursions – a 14 mile drive from your campsite. *Lotus, California - The Coloma-Lotus Valley is the major destination of the South Fork, shaped by the American River today as in 1848. Three riverfront parks provide opportunities for family picnics and wading, and Marshall Gold Discovery State Historic Park brings California’s history to life.  While in Lotus, please make a point to stop in at Sierra Rizing Bakery, Coffeehouse and Cafe – located in the beautiful Coloma & Lotus river valley just steps from the South Fork of the American River. They feature small-batch local artisan-roasted coffees, fresh bakery goods, breakfast and lunch fare, as well as specialty drinks, beer, and local wines.  They also offer a beautiful outdoor patio that is dog friendly.  Dogs are also welcome inside the cafe. For those interested to tour the sanctuary grounds, meet many of the rescue animals living within our gates(see EXTRAS to book a private tour). HartSong co-founders, Jim and Kathy Hart, are both former professional musicians so there’s nothing more delightful to our ears than to hear acoustic kumbaya moments around a campfire.  We do, however, most graciously request “quiet time” at the campsite after 10PM.

4 MINUTE DRIVE TO DOWNTOWN PLACERVILLE! And a 5 min walk to the bike path that leads to downtown. The French Pasture is a beautiful campsite surrounded by an oak, plum and apricot tree. There is a small 1 minute hike through the land from the parking spot to the campsite. The camp has a wooden picnic table with a canopy. The photo shows a two person tent but the site can fit a 10x10 foot tent. A few things to consider: 1. We do have a fire pit, but the area for the fire is not leveled yet (as the camp and table section is). Coming soon! 2. There is a portable shower and portable toilet option. Hot water is not available. (See photos). 3. The freeway can be heard from the campsite. The positives: 1. Downtown Placerville is only a 3 -5 minute drive. There is also a bike trail walking distance from the campsite to downtown that is an approximate 15 minute walk. 3. Morning coffee will be provided by hosts. Learn more about this land: This property is located in an historic gold mining town about 45 minutes from Auburn. Our 60 years old, non irrigated, 30 acre walnut orchard sits on top a mountain at 3000 with breathtaking views and is surrounded by forest. We have over Goats, Sheep, horses and Alpaca's that freely graze the property and will most likely visit with guests. If you are not comfortable with livestock then this is not the property for you. There is an 1200 foot airstrip running through the middle of the orchard.  Parking or camping is available on this or choose to camp in the orchard.   You can chill out at the property and enjoy the scenery and animals or hike around our mountain. Mineral bar campground, with access to the American River, is 20 minutes away by car where you can swim or pan for gold. Sugar Pine Reservoir is also about 20 minutes away by car, where you can fish or swim. Located near the reservoir are dirt bike trails ranging from beginner to advanced trails (check prior to see if they are open), . The top of Stevens trail is 15 minutes away but this is for advanced hikers only.

The cabin was very cozy and the scenery was beautiful. It was near a lot of wonderful hiking trails and a cute town. It was the perfect mix of secluded but not totally isolated and even though it was cold, the cabin is a converted sauna and got very toasty with a fire.

There is a lovely little shop for you to browse while staying there and you are able to feed the alpacas! The community who help tend the land and care for the animals are lovely people and gave me quite the education on alpacas.

We stayed here to celebrate my husband’s birthday with our 9-month-old, and it was such a wonderful experience. We loved that we could upgrade provisions, we used the propane tank for the fire pit and the pour-over coffee setup, which came with freshly roasted beans (amazing!). The whole place has this relaxing, no-nonsense vibe that we really appreciated. We went during the fall, and it was so beautiful seeing the vines changing color. The electric blanket made our night cozy and comfortable even when it got chilly. Aaron was outstanding. His hospitality, knowledge, and genuine passion for his craft really stood out. We enjoyed wine tasting, hanging out in the “vincade,” and my husband watched a bit of Monday Night Football! The wine was fantastic, and we were so impressed we ended up joining the wine club. The yurt was spacious and comfy, the bed was great, and there was plenty of room for our daughter to crawl around. The portapotty was clean, and everything felt thoughtfully maintained. Just an overall relaxing, memorable trip. Can’t wait to come back!

Jane's land is simply beautiful. We stayed at campsite 2 which was across the street from the farm and orchard in the tall pine trees. In mid October the weather was mostly sunny and warm during the day and lightly chilly at night. The camping areas in the forest are on a hill with a slight grade. I think site 4 may be a little more level and tucked away. We slept in our vehicles so no comment for tents, but it is uneven. There are super clean porta potties at the campsites. We had the area to ourselves on a Monday-Wednesday. Lots of trees for hammock hanging, soft pine covered earth, lots of fallen pine cones of all types. They are big and fall and could hurt so be wary of the sounds. It is by the road so there are some sounds, but not much especially in the evening hours. One evening we did see two tarantulas. Only other animals sighted were a hare, various birds and insects. The pie shop is cute and available to campers most days if they are busy baking. the mini pies and cupcakes are beautiful and delicious. Friendly hosts. Would return!

Not every day am I surrounded by alpacas! This is a unique experience for animal lovers, giving you the chance to observe or interact with alpacas, goats, sheep, chickens, and farm dogs. My 10 year old was both enthralled and overwhelmed by the eager alpacas. Camping is pleasant, with a lovely setting, adequate porta-potty, some space between rigs, easy pull through, clear directions, friendly staff. Bring ear plugs if barking livestock guardian dogs will disturb your sleep (I was bothered, my family was not).

Weekend Trip to Om Sweet Om Farm

Dustin and Om's land, farm, Glampgalore retreat was perfect for our 4 month old's first camping experience. The tent was so cozy, thoughtfully decorated and organized with string lights, a comfortable bed, dresser, side table, and cooking wares. Our dogs had a blast walking the beautiful trails all around and we had the best time feeding acorns to the goats and the cutest pigs you will ever meet. Being followed around by a gaggle of chickens, guinea hens, ducks, and one curious turkey made our trip all the more sweet. Dustin and Om are the best hosts we have ever had on Hipcamp and we will definitely be back in the spring!

We overall enjoyed camping at this very private orchard! There was a pond right next to us! We saw lots of wild animals including a flock of quails, deer, ducks, and turkeys! The showers were extra charge but we did enjoy the warm water and nice shower after being out in the wilderness. Only complaint is that the toilet and shower room has two big windows that do not have any privacy covering so we felt exposed. Also the door to the laundry room didn’t close all the way so someone could accidentally walk in on you while you’re doing your business or showering. We just ended up changing in the shower which at least had curtains. Otherwise, nice camping spot!

We stayed one night at Olde Lyfe Alpacas and absolutely loved it! The ranch is peaceful and full of charm. Stacey was such a kind and welcoming host. You can really feel how much care and love she puts into the animals. ALL the animals (alpacas, llamas, goats, sheep, dogs, chickens) were adorable and fun to watch, and waking up to them made it such a cool experience. It was the perfect quiet stop on our trip, and we’d definitely come back again (and stay longer next time!). Highly recommend this spot if you’re looking for a peaceful and unique camping experience.
