Beach Whimsical Cottage

This is a sweet beach cottage with one or two bedrooms that is close to town and super close to the beach.  I offer bikes, Jaccuzzi and parking for a small car.  This is the place to rest after camping and waiting to take a flight from LAX or just relax at the beach.  This is not a camp spot but a lush garden area with trees, vines and flowers. Also, this is a non smoking property for all types of smoke and no vaping.

About this space
A visually exciting indoor-outdoor experience! The cavernous studio has 12-foot ceilings that open up on two sides to spacious patios with fountains. Queen-sized bed with Tempurpedic mattress, plus a high-quality sofa-bed. Super-sized kitchen, wi-fi, television, phone, washer and dryer, heating and air conditioning, and off-street parking. Lushly landscaped. 10 minutes to beach, 10 minutes to the city. Not suitable for parties, visitors, or pets. Smoking outside only.
The space
A truly one-of-a kind, insanely colorful space. Artful details and architectural antiques abound. Kitchen has a big pink fridge, green gas range, chartruse coffee-maker, electric tea kettle, toaster, blender, pots, pans, and other basic cooking implements. Bath has shower and private toilet-room. Two closets, dedicated phone line, wifi, and cable television. Immerse yourself inside a hand-painted art-piece created by a life-long visual artist...(that be me).
Guest access
Guests have exclusive use of the studio, patios, and driveway. The washer and dryer area outside is shared.
Other things to note
FILMING AND PHOTOSHOOTS ARE NOT A PART OF A "PACKAGE-DEAL" WHEN A GUEST BOOKS THE STUDIO. PHOTO SHOOTS MAY BE ARRANGED WITH THE OWNER OUTSIDE OF AIRBNB.

Reptacular Ranch Zoo

Reptacular Ranch is a 15-acre ranch in the middle of the Angeles National Forest. It's also a private zoo of over 500 animals! Our 15-acre ranch is in the Angeles National Forest - near Los Angeles. The Angeles National Forest of the U.S. Forest Service is located in the San Gabriel Mountains and Sierra Pelona Mountains, primarily within Los Angeles County in southern California. The Forest is one of the few remaining open space areas in Southern California.   The forest is an important part of the overall health and well being of the area population. It provides open space, solitude from the everyday stress of modern living, a place to conduct research, a haven for wildlife, and offers a wide variety of recreation opportunities.Reptacular Ranch is also a private zoo of animals including tortoises and farm animals like goats, sheep, alapacs, cows, donkeys, turkeys and pigs. We have lots of birds, reptiles, and a camel and zebra! Welcome.

Urban Glamping at La Boheme!

This historical 1904 Craftsman home, known as The Liddell "La Boheme" Home, is nestled on 1/2 an acre of land smack in the middle of Los Angeles' hippest, historical gem: Highland Park.

When on the property, surrounded by fruit trees and rolling hills
-- you can't believe you are in a city, let alone Los Angeles! I was introduced to the delights of Glamping at El Capitan in Santa Barbara which was amazing and I wanted to stay there forever!! -- BUT with a busy city life of raising kids and building my own small food business -- I wanted to jump from
Glamp-life to
City-life (and back again)
with more ease and share it with others.

In my opinion, the beauty of So-Cal living is that you can literally spend the morning surfing in Malibu and that same evening find yourself
skiing in Big Bear! (After 25 years of living here -- that reality still amazes me)

To mirror this unique juxtaposition - at La Boheme, you will find a tranquil Safari Tent Glamping experience - with hiking/biking trails and all sorts of outdoor activities anywhere from a 5 minute walk to 30 minutes away by car---- but you can also hop on the Gold Line train (which is a 1 minute walk out the back door) and in choosing one direction, you are a couple of

stops from Chinatown or Downtown LA's rich cultural experiences & exciting nightlife. If you decide to explore
in the other direction, Metro's Gold Line (in 1 stop) will take you
to the heart of Highland Park's bustling scene -
 offering a smorgasbord of eateries, coffee-shops,

speakeasies, boutiques, yoga studios
and art galleries - including LA's oldest bowling alley: Highland Park Bowl.
Take the train further and you're in the heart of glorious Pasadena
(home to The Rose Bowl and exceptional Norton Simon Museum)-- or continue out to beautiful Sierra Madre -- where there is
hiking and exploring galore! At La Boheme you
can
grill onsite, order
take-out, dine out, stay-in and book a personal masseuse (that will change your world!) You can find places to
hike, bike, play tennis, come back and shower (with hot water) - enjoy some bubbly with your honey on the deck -- take the train
downtown to catch a concert at the Staples center -- Uber back - light the chiminea -- roast a s'more or two and crawl into your super comfy REAL bed in your REAL Safari Tent!

Remember
-- this is URBAN Glamping -- a friendly reminder that there can be normal city noises throughout your stay -- like a Fire Engine answering a call - or the train running behind the property -- or a kid crying in the apartment next door. It happens. Life happens. Of the several people who have already enjoyed the Glamping experience of La Boheme -- normal city noise/life
hasn't dampened the experience at all-- only made it more intriguing! There is both a fan for air circulation and/or "white noise" as well as a heater, if you should need either of them. Plenty of extra blankets are available as well as a cot if you are a booking for 3 guests. La Boheme also is a venue for weddings and other events -- so we love hosting and want to do whatever we can to make your stay the best it can be for you! Back deck with privacy screen and succulents. Guests enjoy playing cards, laughing and listening to music. As the sun sets-- twinkle light come on, candles get lit and it's time for cocktail hour!

Will Geer Theatricum Botanicum

Long before he founded Theatricum Botanicum, Indiana native Will Geer was well-known for his work on the New York stage, in film, and on radio. By the mid-1950’s, he had relocated permanently to California and had established a successful Hollywood career. His future looked bright. But after being called to testify before the U.S. Congress’ Committee on Un-American Activities, he suddenly found himself blacklisted by the major studios with no viable means of income.

For Geer and his young family, the McCarthy Era had arrived. Relocating to an acreage in Topanga, California, Mr. Geer established a theatre for similarly blacklisted actors and folk singers on the property. Because he held a degree in botany (one of his life long interests) the theater was named for a landmark botany text book, Theatricum Botanicum, which means, quite literally, “a garden theatre.”

In the years to come, Geer cultivated not only theater, but a bountiful garden that enabled him and his wife, actress Herta Ware, to earn a living from the sale of vegetables, fruit, and herbs. With the success of television’s “The Waltons” in 1973, Geer discovered renewed popularity with his portrayal of Walton family patriarch, Zebulon Walton. Now he re-gathered his family (many of whom were working actors in regional theatres across the country) and together they formed a non-profit organization, Will Geer’s Theatricum Botanicum. In those heady days, audiences flocked to free workshop performances of Shakespeare, folk plays, and concerts featuring such well-known artists as Pete Seeger, Arlo Guthrie, Della Reese, Burl Ives, and many more.

After his death in 1978, the family (led by their mother, Herta Ware) and a small troupe of dedicated actors tirelessly dedicated their energies to transform Theatricum into a professional repertory theatre, with educational programs and musical events incorporated into its programming.

Since 2016, Will Geer’s Theatricum Botanicum has been a member of The Folger Shakespeare Library Theatre Partnership Program.

Today, under the creative supervision of Artistic Director Ellen Geer (Will’s daughter), Theatricum has blossomed into a vital creative force that has been recognized internationally for its interpretation of Shakespeare’s work. In addition to an annual summer season of 5 repertory plays, Will Geer’s Theatricum Botanicum offers year-round classes to actors of all ages, hosts live music concerts, nurtures budding playwrights, and successfully reaches schools and students across the Greater Los Angeles County with the aim of making live theater bloom for generations to come.

Our 2023 theatrical season opens to the public with Wm. Shakespeare's "MacBeth" in June, along with "A Midsummer Night's Dream" and "Queen Margaret’s Version of Shakespeare’s War of the Roses".  In July we open "A Perfect Ganesh" written by Terrence McNally, and we run all 4 plays through early October.  It's also our 50th Year Anniversary so we have a number of special events happening ~ check our web site for more information.  We close the Theatricum in early November. .
