This property is nestled in a little valley one ridge over from the Mad River which flows to the ocean 5 miles away as the crow flies. Warmer in the summer and just beyond the fog belt we can have 80 degrees in the summer while the coast is in the 60's. A bit colder in the winter than the coast, we have been known to have a dusting or a couple inches of snow (although it never sticks around). The beginnings of Warren creek form the eastern boundary to the property where salmonids have been tracked by Fish and Game. A year round spring feeds a pond which then feeds another creek on the west side of the property. Besides field and meadow there is lush forest with a variety of trees including: Cascara, Willow, Alder, Redwood, Cedar, Maple, Spruce and Fir.
This land was the home of one of the richest race car drivers in the area who legend says had regular shoot outs with the police! Since then the land has been cleansed, blessed and used for many sacred gatherings, weddings and ceremonies and was home to a moonlodge-TreeWoman for several years. There we had regular new moon gatherings for local women. It is an honor and privilege to share this space with you.

Enjoy your own private meadow cabin at the end of the lane, just a minute walk from the communal parking area. Rustic yet comfy, leave your TV behind and cozy up next to your campfire; savor morning coffee with the resident deer and towering Redwoods. Bike down scenic West End Road to Blue Lake and the Mad River. Make a stop at the local brewery after a stroll on the river trail. It is an easy 15 minute drive to the nearest beaches with hiking and biking trails nearby. In the winter, take a 40 minute drive to Horse mountain where you can cross country ski with a distant view of the ocean.
This land is sacred to us and has been the site of multiple spiritual ceremonies, workshops and seasonal gatherings, including wedding celebrations. You may see us working around the land occasionally as we live in the main house also on the property. This is not a perfectly groomed lawn type of area. We do mow paths and sitting spaces but the ground can be uneven at times and much growth is kept natural for wildlife habitat. As stewards of this property, we value the wildlife safety and honor the presence of all creatures with minimal disruption. Wildlife that have visited include but not limited to: deer, fox, bear, skunk, opossum, mountain lion, owls and hawks. You may hear our ducks on occasion but fear not, they are trained not to attack! Our two cats may come to inspect visitors and may decide to join you for morning coffee in your covered outdoor lounging area.
The Meadow cabin was originally built to house our extensive water filtration system, then expanded as a horse shelter and garden space as well as a honey processing house. We affectionately call it our "Honey House". On several occasions it was the site of regular African initiation medicine journeys. The fire pit in front of the cabin was created as a sacred fire spot.
We strive for organic chemical free living as much as possible. Soaps, shampoos, and cleaning supplies are provided. If you bring your own please be conscientious. Please no highly scented perfumes or lotions.
There is an infrared sauna on site as well, convenient to your shower and tub. Directions for use are in the informational binder.
The indoor studio style living space is shoes off so bring some clean indoor shoes/slippers to wear if desired. Heating is by a small electric fireplace/stove. There is a queen size bed and a single overhead bunk (max 250lbs). Kitchen amenities include a hotplate, toaster/bake oven, electric tea kettle and skillet and a kitchen sink as well as a large refrigerator. This is a solar powered household with filtered well water. Hot water outdoor shower, tub and custom made pooper. Our home made compost toilet is simple to use. Preferably solids only (feel free to pee in the field) after which a scoop of cedar shavings is dumped on top. Cell phone service may be spotty. Just beyond the fire pit is often better reception.
Please drive slow on the 1/3 mile long gravel drive to get to our sanctuary at the end of the lane. Our country lane is perfect for a stroll under the stars. At times you can even hear the roar of the ocean approximately 5 miles to the west as the crow flies. It is very dark at night with no street lights or bright porch lights so make sure you bring a flashlight.
We do have neighbors and you may hear others doing yardwork, calling for their animals or the sound of chickens, occasionally dogs and ducks. This space is a peaceful retreat but please do not expect complete silence all the time.
We have lived here for over 35 years and have experience on the rivers, oceans and trails and are happy to share information on where to go and what to see if so desired.

My husband and I enjoyed our stay at Jacob's Riverside Gem! It's rustic enough to feel adventurous and homey enough to feel warm and comfy in the winter. It's obvious that Jacob has put a lot of heart and soul into this little cabin because of all the artistic touches you will find throughout. The firewood was well stocked, the property was beautiful with many fresh fungi to observe, and the little kitchen was perfect for making delicious meals. The fridge is quite small with no freezer, so if you want to bring fresh food for cooking, I recommend bringing a cooler. The shower is not far from the cabin, so it's easy to get a hot shower in and run back inside to the warm cabin. Make sure to bring your own bath towel. The bathroom is farther from the cabin, but I enjoyed the walk there, especially at night when I could look at the stars.
We didn't get to enjoy the outdoor space very much, seeing as we visited in winter, but we definitely want to come back in the summer to enjoy all that this little cabin and the Smith River area has to offer. If you're looking for a quaint place to stay while adventuring in the area, you've found the right place!

This was our second stay and all went very well. Beautiful area. We stayed in the Tiny Home this time, partly I choose this because there were high winds predicted. Both the Tiny Home, the cute camper and their composting outhouse are very nice and all are very clean. There's room for a person and two dogs or two people if one wants the floor, such as a child. Great stay.

The couple who own Riversong are so sweet! They really made us feel welcome and they didn't mind my dogs at all. We got to see a couple of their option, a small camper and a Tiny Home. Both were in a grassy meadow, the camper has a bigger bed. Definitely recommend the camper for couples or larger persons. Both sites had power and water available and there's a composting toilet. We loved it!

Jacob has really put in a labor of love on this land to help his guests, rest, reset and connect. Being able to take a shower outside and hike down and wade the waters of the river was unbelievable. It rained most of the time I was there so I didn't get to take advantage of the river much but the cabin was a cozy safe haven to cook dinner and brew my morning coffee in. I loved that I could camp there and then drive 25minutes and be hiking in the Jedidiah Smith Redwoods area. Close enough off the 101 you can really use it as a stop like I did however I can see how staying longer would mean even more glory along the river.
The cons are I found some metal scraps and screws on the ground walking around; just beware if you have kiddos. The hike down is well designed but it's definitely moderate and can be slippery. The ladder up the bed is not for the faint of heart!

Weekend Trip to Redwood Meadows RV Resort
I absolutely lovedddd the Clever tiny home. I stayed for 3 nights while I was working in the area, and although I was alone, it's also the perfect size for two people. Everything was so clean, the whole park is so quiet even though it's right next to the highway, and everyone was so friendly. It's just a great spot for a comfy bed, warm shower, and a good meal! I will 1000% be staying here again when I'm in the area! Also all of the trails nearby in the redwoods/down to smith river are easy to access and there's a little store and gas station right there at the entrance to the RV park. :)

This is an absolutely tranquil, peaceful, and simple spot to be with the land, the river, the misty mornings and starry nights. It was so great to detach from technology and just enjoy walking down to the river or out along the pasture, then sit in the rocking chair on the porch gazing out at the sunset.

Dreamy secluded spot on a stunning river edge. Simple unique cabin with everything you need to relax and unwind. We spent the entirety of our stay floating in the gorgeous Smith river and didn’t see one other person. Easy to get to but very hard to leave. It really was perfect. This place truly is a Gem!! Loved being in nature and right on the Smith River and still having creature comforts like lights, cooking equipment, fridge, super comfy bed and a hot shower! This place is perfect for anyone seeking a cozy glamping experience :) The river really was the best part for me, I swam in it multiple times every day, the swimming spot is so perfect. Bring water shoes/Tevas, something of the soft if your feet are sensitive with rocks like mine are and you’ll be super comfy walking down to and into the water. Location is a great home base for Redwoods, Crescent City and Brookings, so many awesome hikes within a short drive. Looking forward to coming back and staying again! 11 out of 10!

Such a great gem and helpful host! I just needed a safe and secure place to hang with my dogs where I could close the gate and disappear. This place was perfect. The lil studio was clean and comfy, and the swimming hole/river access at the bottom of the hill was perfectly isolated to give me the space and time I needed to slowly introduce my dogs to water activities. I definitely recommend!

Siena's land is so magical and peaceful and I was so comfortable in her adorable tiny house with adjacent charming outhouse. She is very welcoming and friendly and made sure that I was comfortable and had everything I needed. Absolutely primo private river spot. We stayed down there til dark and then watched the bats hunt. My only gripe is it’s quite hot upstairs for sleeping. A fan would have really helped. Also a sheet to put down on the futon because it was too hot to sleep on a blanket. Really cute little place!

1 night at River Song Camp
Siena is an extremely kind host who tends this simple, deeply peaceful space at the gateway to a river wonderland. Rustic and unheated but clean, & the compost toilet facility equally so. I never did locate the propane cook stove- but admittedly, I wasn't feeling very well. Thank you again Siena for providing such a sweet space. ✨

Nice and pretty swimming hole, place had just enough amenities to make it comfy and easy. Good location, close to redwoods and the coast. There is a lot of traffic noise-- I camped in the clearing above the cabin. I was surprised to pay extra to bring a dog, but maybe that's typical for HipCamp? Jacob was kind and easy to communicate with. Thank you!
