On many days you can experience Ojai’s famous pink moments. You can hike the trails above Ojai, boat, eat, or picnic at Lake Casitas. Travel to nearby Ventura to shop, fish the pier, or take a deep sea fishing charter or Island charter to Whale watch or fish around the Channel Islands. Please note the aerial view of the camping area recently placed by Hipcamp is NOT AT ALL REPRESENTATIVE of the current camping sites and shows a photo that is many years old when the site was merely land. That photo is without any of the existing amenities or improvements. The actual sites are all Larger than Federal Park and Statepark guidelines, with averages of 20'x30' for campsites and 20'x40' for a long RVCampsite. We have planted many young trees and continue to plant trees and native shrubs around and near the sites. We have picnic tables, table coverings, fire pits, and camping rugs/footprints. There is also an outdoor shower, a shower tent with hot water, and an upgraded porta-potty with a sink. Note: During times when high heat is predicted, we strongly recommend that our Hipcampers bring pop-up shade tents or canopies for their sites. The Hipcamp is adjacent to our working ranch, and any photos of old sheds, trucks, a wood lot, or other equipment are NOT on the Hipcamp, but you will drive past that property to get to the separate Hipcamp area. Wineries, Farmer's Markets, Craft Breweries, dispensaries, and more are within 10 to 15 minutes of our site. Our location allows moments when you may see Hawks, Owls, Geese, Swallows, Robins, Bluebirds, and more. We offer both tent and RV camping. The Majority of our Guests love it here: "Vivian and Dave were exceptional hosts! Easy to contact and find our way to their property. Also gave us a plethora of places to go and things to do in the Ojai area. The area was open and spacious, and many trees and upgrades were in the works to make future stays more user-friendly. We purchased the ranch 8 years ago and love being outside of the city in the mountains. Stargazing is a must when staying there! The campsite is NEXT DOOR to Prospector Ranch, which is our 1800s-style ranch tucked away in the Santa Monica mountains, close to beaches, vineyards, amazing hiking, biking to the beach and the city! The wide open empty lot looks out at the beautiful mountains. The San Andreas fault is just about 8 miles away, and many other faults meet nearby. The mountains here are full of geological signs of the Forces that ripped away Santa Barbara from the North American plate as it was flipped upside down. This is the entrance to the Enchanted Forest. Learn more about this land: Lockwood Valley is so close to Los Angeles and other urban areas, but feels 1000 miles away. Our neighborhood is a gem within Lockwood Valley. The community has less than 20 residences so it is very rural, but neighborly. There are horses nearby, you will hear some roosters in the distance, and if you are lucky, you may hear the African lions or wolves from the next canyon over where there is a (fully contained) wildlife sanctuary called Steve Martins Working Wildlife (not the funny guy). Great secluded spot for a fully contained RV. Easy entrance from a good dirt road. The actual property of the site is 1/8 of an acre and is surrounded by forest and fields. A picnic table is nestled in a grove of trees next to a steel fire pit ring. Bring your hammock to relax under big shady piñon pines. The site is about 200 yards from the entrance to the Los Padres National Forest with great hiking, mountain biking, birdwatching, hunting, etc. There is currently no privacy barrier between the campsite and the dirt road, but the traffic is extremely minimal. There are two 12’x24’ horse corrals on the property. This area is ideal for horseback trail riding and the campsite location makes for the perfect base camp. This is a superb stargazing spot, far from the city lights. Many amateur astronomers come to this area for the dark skies. At a mile high, nights can be very cold, and in the winter it is possible to get up to a couple feet of snow. Weather conditions such as heavy rain or snow can make the roads and campsite impassable at times so cancellations are possible in this case (this happens a lot less than we would like, of course, because we need the precipitation!).

This is an incredibly historic site in Santa Barbara history. 2 tribes of Chumash Indians lived here for 10,000 years. This is where Spain landed and began colonizing the area. In the 1950's and 60's, this was the site of the World's largest orchid farm. There is a book called The Royal Rancho, if you are a history buff. We are a farm on the beach just North of Santa Barbara and Goleta, Ca. You will camp in a historic, glass greenhouse with incredible ocean views. Inside is a cob pizza oven that works awesome. (Bring your own firewood),,, a place to pitch tents and tiny artistic structures to explore. You will have a private bath and shower (Primitive, no electricity, but the hot shower has the best view in the world of any shower!) Bring your own toiletries and whatnot. Private beach access from our property. We have a barnyard with a multitude of farm animals. Limited electricity in greenhouse (A couple of extension chords). The fire ban is ONLY for open campfires. The pizza oven and YOUR bbq or propane flame is fine. If you are camping during the rain, be advised, it gets wet in the greenhouse. It's an antique after all!

5 nights at North Fork Ranch (Horses Welcome)

I stayed in this cozy, self‑contained space for a few days of rest and writing. The privacy was excellent, and support was always just a moment away whenever I needed it. The bed was comfortable, and the shower was fantastic. Although the fridge was small for a longer stay, that’s a minor issue—I’ll be better prepared next time. This getaway spot is truly worth it. From the front door, I walked to the trailhead and hiked a gentle 2.5‑mile ascent alongside a snowmelt creek. The effort was rewarded with an amazing view of the valley I’d just walked up. Will utilize again and try the food on offer next time.

This is a beautiful place. It was my second visit, and was just amazing this year because of previous rain (I think). There was snow on a nearby peak, green hills, wildflowers, happy birds: a paradise for nature lovers. I hated to leave and hope to return soon.

My partner and I spent Valentine’s Day weekend at the Songdog Ranch in their water tank site. It was very private and the host, Jenny, was extremely accommodating! The site was stocked with an ample amount of firewood, drinking water, kitchen utensils/ cookware and chairs. It was quite cold in the evening, the water tank has a space heater that worked well in keeping the chill at bay. The road to the Hipcamp was extremely bumpy, just a heads up to those in low profile vehicles. We can’t wait to go back in the springtime!

Weekend Trip to Sanctuary Cielo

I could not recommend Sanctuary Cielo more!! I was joined by my Honey and our 2 pups and we were all welcomed to sanctuary cielo with open arms. The site is huge with a gas pire pit, a gas bbq, compost toilet (with TP and wet wipes!) lounge chairs, sofas, tables, a huge picnic table, mini fridge, more appliances than I could name (we took advantage of the electric kettle for tea). Decorated so tastefully and comfortably, it felt like an outdoor home in the best way. Everything you could need was thought of down to the tiny details! Amber and Gregory were so hospitable the entire time but they really went out of their way when the weather was planning on getting quite wet and invited us to stay indoors in their very comfortable loft. The hot tub is indeed a MUST! there's a warm outdoor shower to freshen up afterwards (nice big towels included). And we were warmly greeted on Valentine's morning with fresh home made blueberry and banana muffins! She had set out heart shaped plates and decor for us to make our Valentine's weekend extra special. This land is already magical but Amber transformed it into such an amazing outdoor space, we were already planning on coming back before our first sleep haha. Her land also has fun trails to explore, which we all enjoyed, but especially the puppies.

Privacy and almost no main road noises. The bathroom situation wasn't bad at all, not a big deal. It was windy and cold but we put the tent snugged against a giant bush and we slept well. It was really windy but the tent didn't get much of it. We will book again.

We highly recommend Arber-Moores Ranch to anyone passing through the area ( convenient to many spots) or just looking for a place to relax & recharge. EZ to follow & concise directions. The campsites are all spaced perfectly for privacy & each one has their own Vibe. The amenities of bathroom & HOT shower was fantastic, so nice, private & clean:) , available firewood, fire ring & picnic table were much appreciated. The owners are amazing! They have a super nice property. The dirt roads are mint. Any car can go. The sites are well equipped and separated from each other. I will go back!

Weekend Trip to Campsite 3 & 4

Loved this campsite! Beautiful area and absolutely incredible stargazing. Saw so many shooting stars! Felt private as the campsites are spaced out pretty well and it feels like you have the wilderness to yourself :) Only (small) negatives: we did still have some raucous neighbors, but the spacing made it not so bad. Also, didn’t receive a free bottle of wine or any welcome as other guests have mentioned. Very minor- had an amazing time and would love to return!!

2 nights at Arber-Moore's Ranch

Ideal location for close access to Casitas lake, Ojai, and many trails. We had spot 3, adjacent to a beautiful majestic oak. The shower is a great amenity. We would definitely go back.

7 nights at Cuyama Badlands

Peace, silence, tranquility. We have a small Class A R so we are use to certain..... luxuries. For true campers this is the place for you. Beautiful. Great staff. Great site prices. Well water for most if not all sites, which for something this remote is fantastic. I enjoyed it much I booked a weekend in about a month. Lots of walking/running space. Fascinating terrain and geography. The thing that breaks a silence that I really fell in love with was the Ballinger Canyon/ Cuyama Valley wind howl or roar. It's very cool. That, with the sounds of a campfire crackling and a coyote's den howling in the distance, there's a magic to it. I highly recommend it.
