The ranch is made up of their home and is also
a venue for filming, photo shoots and small events.
When not being used, camping guest are welcome to enjoy the area down around the authentic saloon, use the picnic area under large Oak trees and hike the property. We
purchased the ranch 8 years ago and love being outside of the city in the mountains. Star gazing is a must when staying there!

What an adorable glampsite! Located on the back of the owner’s property, the site was not too remote, right in between Santa Barbara and Solvang. It was quiet, clean and comfortable. Highly recommend.

It was my first time Glamping. And boy was this an amazing spot and experience. Shirley and Matt are so nice and attentive. We had everything we could need. They even had extra blanket and towels. I couldn't believe how large the tent was and it also had an island on the side where we could make coffee (which they were kind enough to provide) and prepare food on. Thanks so much Shirley and Matt for making this a positive experience.

Weekend Trip to Canvas Under the Oaks
Great location tucked in the hills above Santa Barbara. Pretty close to both downtown and Goleta, about 15 minutes from site.
The glampsite itself was extremely cozy and running shower with hot and cold water in the shack next door with an accompanying toilet. Little sink right one the outside for all bathroom sink needs and doubles as dish washing sink. Right next to that is the freshwater spring tap which might have been my favorite feature. Tasted so clean, better than any water you could buy in a store.
The tent was very clean and tidy, a few bugs here and there but that’s nature for ya. Bed was very comfy and comfortable, and rest of tent area was reasonably spacious. Refrigerator was a lifesaver, as was the fan with the temperature reaching high 80s while we were there.
Some cookware is provided, but did not use it as we got sandwiches in town to bring back for dinner. Deck right out front of the tent was awesome, set some chairs up and looked straight out into the foresty area and felt like we were in a tree house.
Did have service up there surprisingly, but WiFi provided as well. Very satisfied with our experience and will be coming back.

Weekend Trip to Canvas Under the Oaks
The tent was amazing, lots of space and everything was super clean. The nature was marvelous with stunning hikes nearby. There was everything needed to cook and clean. The outdoor toilets and showers were amazing, the hot water with the cold nights were so relaxing. When we arrived, the host gave us a full tour of how to use all the amenities and answered all our questions about nearby hikes and places to go to. I would definitely return and recommend others to as well for a getaway weekend to the mountains. I only have good things to say.

The tent was heavy, high quality, incredibly spacious, clean, impeccably well maintained, and had all the amenities one could ask for. The hosts were wonderfully welcoming and wholly available if needed but gave plenty of privacy and distance otherwise. Really nice spacious porch with seats, a small wood table, and nice little propane grill and close-range heater. Additionally, loved the private shower, sink/vanity, and toilet. Shower had plenty of lasting hot water and was mere steps from the tent. Could not if asked for more in a meticulously designed and dutifully maintained camping spot; quiet, relaxing, secluded, and enjoyable in the utmost!

Where to go
Ojai and Ventura
Near downtown Ojai, Camp Comfort offers tent and RV sites with full hookups and amenities, while Dennison Park Campground offers peaceful valley views. Nearby Lake Casitas Recreation Area, just seven miles west of Ojai, offers water recreation and hundreds of lakeside and wooded campsites. Head toward the coast to enjoy ocean views and play in the Pacific. Camp in an RV at Rincon Parkway Beach, or stay in a tent or RV at Hobson Beach Park and Faria Beach Park. The rocky beachfront at Emma Woods State Beach draws surfers, anglers, and RV campers.
Los Padres National Forest
The national forest spans 1.75 million acres and offers camping options from dispersed to developed, including more than 60 campgrounds. Explore the Matilija Wilderness or the Sespe Wilderness and soak in the natural hot springs. Stay at a streamside campsite at nearby Wheeler Gorge Campground, built by Boy Scouts. The Rose Valley Campground offers easy access to the popular Rose Valley Falls Trail. Several other campgrounds can be found further inland, including Middle Lion and Lion Canyon campgrounds.
Santa Barbara
Drive about 45 minutes up the coast to experience the American Riviera in Santa Barbara. On the way, Carpinteria State Beach offers several campgrounds for tents and RVs, including beachfront sites. Closer to Santa Barbara, play and camp in the shade at El Capitan State Beach, or enjoy great coastal fishing and camping at Refugio State Beach. Or head inland to the Cachuma Lake Recreation Area for year-round recreation and camping options for tents, RVs, cabins, and yurts.
Malibu
Head south along the coast to glitzy Malibu. Enjoy plenty of sun and surf at iconic Malibu Lagoon State Beach, then head into the Santa Monica Mountains to camp at Malibu Creek State Park, and explore the rugged terrain and Hollywood filming history. Along the coast, Point Mugu State Park and Leo Carillo State Park offer miles of beachfront, plus numerous camping options from family campgrounds to primitive hike-in sites.
When to go
Summer is a popular time for visiting Ojai, though temperatures can soar. Summer weekends are particularly busy. Visit in the spring and fall for pleasant weather for outdoor activities and smaller crowds. Ojai is home to several popular festivals, including the Ojai Music Festival, with many in June and October. Wildflower displays can be dazzling in the spring.
Know before you go
- The Ojai Trolley operates year-round except for on major holidays. You’ll want a vehicle to travel to areas outside of Ojai.
- Many area campgrounds are very popular, meaning advance reservations are recommended and sometimes required. Most reservations need to be made at least two to three days in advance.
- Dispersed camping in Los Padres National Forest is only allowed in certain areas and requires a permit. Permits are also required for campfires, though campers need to be aware of fire restrictions and bans.
- Bring your own water for certain campgrounds, including Wheeler Gorge and Rose Valley.
