The White Lodge is a private home owned by the creator of Hicksville Trailer Palace and Hicksville Pines Bud and Breakfast. Although Morgan(the owner) has retired, he's made his property to feel as if you're in the middle of the woods complete with swimming hole, fire pit, outdoor kitchen, sauna and more! Our trailer and cave shower entrance are on the smaller size and may not be comfortable for larger bodied individuals. We are closed May-August because the trailer has no A/C and we're too busy with our Swimply pool business. You can book it only as an add-on for pool guests during that time. We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect place to stay while visiting Joshua Tree. Tao’s property is fun, welcoming, and equipped with everything you need - and then some! We took advantage of the trails near the property and then spent time relaxing in the pool and hot tub. If you’re looking for a magical space to get in touch with yourself and the land, then this is the place! Definitely will be back again!! Thank you Tao 💛

My husband and I truly enjoyed our stay at the Canned Ham! The property is beautifully decorated giving a whimsical Yosemite feel. The camper is small but extremely cozy and intimate. The jacuzzi is awesome and the sauna is a must! Will definitely come back!

Walking through the gate of this staycation destination is like walking through a hidden portal to another time and place! Traveling from a city street into a national park in a matter of steps. Every bit of this property and abode was truly captivating, with a cohesive theme and lots of fun details. The hot tub had a fantastic view of stars and civilization with, at the right time, sunset splendor. Morgan was friendly and thoroughly helpful, even introducing us to the cat who hung out with us throughout the evening and into the morning. Can’t wait to come back during the summer! Dulce and Bob

I booked the canned ham for a surprise vacation for me and my partner!! I couldn’t have been happier! The cozy retro vibes of the canned ham were absolutely perfect and everything was extremely clean and well maintained in the trailer and on the property. The hot tub was literally right outside the front door, with a with a great view and it seemed like it was practically new!! It was already heated by the time I arrived and was super clean. I know it’s funny to say, but the water/chemical balance was incredible. I can tell that it was treated, but it did not have an overly chlorinated or chemical smell. Morgan was incredibly nice and accommodating. Even prior to booking, we communicated a few times and he answered quite quickly. The rest of the property was also incredibly cozy and the biggest perk was the adorable on site kitties roaming around! Will definitely be booking again in the future!

The property has good energy, beautiful star gazing, with Joshua trees illuminated at night. The pool and hot tub, has a fantastic Mountain View. The Quonset hut has a nice bathroom and shower, even eucalyptus leaves hanging, a color energy tarot, and crystal corner. You can roam up trails and have a peaceful, good vibe disconnect, but really a reconnect with nature, yourself. Loved that it’s close to Joshua tree, I’ll be back! The desert as we know cools off at night, so bring warm wear. Thank for a nice stay, and I look forward to another stay!

Amazing property and exceptional service from Tao and everyone at The High Desert Protocal. We stayed in the Silverstreak and loved how vintage it was. We felt like we we're back in the 70's in the best way. All the amenities, dog friendly, communal kitchen, clean bathrooms and shower, beautiful pool and hot tub, hiking footsteps away I really can't say enough. Perfect getaway from the city BS. We can't wait to come back

This place is fantastic! I stayed in the Spartan because I had my two small dogs with me and I didn't want to stay in a tent with them. The bed was very comfortable and the site even had it's own little fire pit with chairs and a grill. The overall facilities were lovely. It was too cold to get in the pool, but I'd love to come back when it is a little warmer to try it out.

Nice spot in the hills adjacent to tons of joshua trees and cactuses. Nice hike up the hill above the pool. Trailer is very cute with lots of windows. They maintained the old look with antiques. Trailer has everything you need to cook. They have a tiny space heater but a bit chilly in Jan. It has a shower but the showers have hotter water in the main communal building and they are really fancy/pretty. Main building has a tv and piano as well! I imagine the pool is nice during the summer. Its lined up with a view of a snowy peak but the jacuzzi was never above luke warm temp both days we were there. I didn't reach out to them about it while i was there though. Nice spot overall.

Such a cute, private spot near the city. The canned ham may be small but it is so cozy and full of character. The bed was very comfy, and we appreciated a kettle being provided. We did need to pick up our own mugs, so keep that in mind if you like a warm beverage in the morning. The cooler is convenient, but we wouldn’t advise expecting it to function as a fridge. The space around the camper is very private feeling with trees around it. The hot tub is such a lovely addition and was fun to use. The whole property is very dreamy. There was plenty of space for eating outdoors. Although the weather for us didn’t permit using the pool, it was so beautiful to look at. The bathroom is just a short walk away, and has awesome decor. We would advise bringing sandals or slides for walking to and from the bathroom and shower. The shower is a fun experience, although it’s important to note it’s quite small (width wise) to enter into the cave area. It’s not feasible for dressing in there, so you will also need to be comfortable walking back in your towel or a robe. The road to the home is very steep and narrow. Street parking is limited but we didn’t have an issue finding parking every night, even when we came back later. There are a couple of cats on the property that visited us and were so cute and friendly. We also got to meet Morgan who was very helpful and kind! We really enjoyed our stay and would recommend it.

We loved our stay in the Tinned Ham Camper! The property itself was amazing with kitschy and fun decor, beautiful views, friendly hosts, and adorable cats. My favorite part of our stay was the hot tub just a couple steps from our door. We also loved that even though we’re in the middle of Eagle Rock it felt like we traveled to somewhere secluded and romantic. I can’t wait to return here!

Wonderful services and even better property. Everything from the bathroom decor and the interior of the teardrop trailer, to the small details around the yard that made the experience live up to its name. The hosts hospitality and responsiveness to our delays in arrival was very earnest and friendly, and their service was overall wonderful. Very cozy, very pampering, amazing hot tub. We didn’t get to use the beautiful pool with waterslide and grotto. And I haven’t even mentioned the great view, the awesome cave shower and the many kitties roaming around. A perfect getaway. Recommend 100%

This place is so magical and so happy Tao shares this space he's created with the world. The Spartan had great vibes! We roamed around the lot exploring the pool, hut and outside kitchen. We met some fellow hipcampers and chatted and it's just an awesome community that's going on here. The road to get to the entrance is a dirt road with soft patches, my little Nissan Kicks was able to make it through no problem. It is extremely dark at night so be mindful going in and out. Also a previous reviewer made a comment about too many lights and couldn't see stars. Maybe Tao made changes, but I was able to see stars just fine at night. Can't wait to come back!!

This spot is absolutely amazing. It's super hidden but only two minutes from the city and anything you may need, that said it feels like a world away. The property, pool and everything else were great. There is so much cool hidden art to discover and the retro decor is awesome. Morgan and Brooke were super nice and helpful giving us a tour and we had everything we needed for the night. The camper was super comfy with warm bedding and it is literally one step to your private hot tub. Some reviews mentioned tight spaces, and it is a small camper but I'm 6'2 and big guy and me and girlfriend fit totally fine and the bed was more than big enough. I can't say enough good things about this spot! I would just make you you bring what you need. We had takeout delivered and brought our own drinkware. A small mini fridge was provided which was perfect for us, but they have a giant outdoor kitchen you can add on if you need more than that! Can't wait to come back to stay, and to rent the pool in the summer! Awesome cute cats too!
