There is a large camping area for you and you’re welcome to visit the farm animals. There is also a kennel available if you bring your dog. The camping spot is flat. We are living our dream after recently finding and purchasing this beautiful 10 acre parcel, one of the sunniest in the canyon with a bucolic creek that flows all year. See Canyon itself is a special place. Home to a multitude of birds and wildlife, a beautiful scenic winding road, lush landscaping and a host of apple orchards. Thanks to the micro climate we have here, we grow some of the best fruit in the country. The coastal canyon is just a short distance to the beach and 15 minutes into town but feels like a world away when you are here. The star gazing is incredible as the canyon walls block the light pollution and the milky way shines! Welcome to our little slice of 10 acre heaven in the Canyon! Just bring yourself and we have everything else!! Nestle up in the Cozy Gnome Home, a 1967 vintage trailer and listen to the symphony of frogs in the creek just outside your window. With love and labor... we gutted, redesigned and restored this little trailer for the ultimate functioning space for two. Nice little kitchen with copper counters and everything you need for cooking and dining. A Berkey filter for clean water, hardwood floors and a comfy bed complete with organic mattress, down comforter and cotton sheets. Fold out dining table if you care to (or need to) eat indoors. There is also an outdoor kitchen space with a sink (no hot water), gas grill, propane burner (bring your own small canister) and a patio table and chairs. We have a charcoal grill available too. The creek runs mostly year round so feel free to get your feet wet on a hot sunny day. We also have an outdoor warm shower and sink as well as a hot water kitchen sink that you can share with other campers. You are welcome to cruise the property and check out the chickens, ducks and horses. We have three dogs on the ranch, a deaf and incredibly sweet pitbull ( he is a food thief so store food and garbage as though raccoons were a problem), a curious and playful ranch dog Pluto (who will be your tour guide) and a Boston Bulldogge, Astrid. We are surrounded by orchards which have some of the best apples and pears in the country. Seasonally you can stop by many apple markets and do a tasting. We also have a lively wine tasting venue less than a mile away. Avila Beach is a short 4 miles away and we are happy to share bikes if we have them available but can't guarantee any. Our location is a bikers' dream as the 13 mile scenic road takes you all the way into SLO. NOTE: If you want to bring others to camp, please note that they need to bring their own tents and supplies, we only have room for two but welcome self sufficient campers to join you :) also, we have a camp stove you can use to cook on but bring your own little green propane canister.

Highlands Ranch Hip Camp sites are located half way between Atascadero and Morro Bay. The weather at Highlands Ranch is more like the inland Atascadero side hot in the summer months and cold in the winter months. We have 4 terraced, no hook up, spots available all of which can accommodate 2 or 4 wheel drive camper vans, trucks or cars. One of the sites can be used for fifth wheel, small motorhome or multiple camper type vehicles and of course tents can be set up on all sites. Sites range from small to extra large, that are quaintly studded with oak trees and native greenery for a peaceful camp off the road. Also, from our sites available, there is only a 5 minute walk to the local, off the beaten path, restaurant called the Half Way Station (great food, beer/ wine, sweets and live music) open Thursday through Sunday, which you can find on Facebook or Instagram. You may also like, a drive, further west is the Morro Creek Ranch Country Store (Snacks, Oils, Avocados, and more), which you can find on Facebook as well and of course further west with tons of ocean fun is Morro Bay. One trailer is sleeping quarters with a mini kitchenette and the other trailer is a full bathroom with shower. The spaces are small and cozy. The views are epic. Overlooking the majestic Paso Robles valley with vineyards with world class views, the spacious deck is the place to be for sunset. The Tiny House: A Fairy tale cottage style wooden tiny home built in the 1980's with a bottle wall, full bath, and reading nook. This three story wonder will leave you inspired to step into your own story. Fully equipped with a small kitchen, queen bed, reading nook and two beautiful outdoor decks, you'll feel like you stepped into another world. The Main Bungalow is a 1970's GEM, built by a movie industry icon with views of the valley through the stunning and huge five windows overlooking the Salinas River. Two bedrooms downstairs and two full baths, accompany a well appointed kitchen. The upstairs loft accommodates two additional semi private queen beds, and additional seating area. Weekend Trip to Rancho Rio Del Sol: Paso Robles, CA

The dream catcher exceed my expectations and was so cute and cozy, had a lot of extra amenities such as a propane fire pit, hot running water and a flushable toilet and the host so graciously provided towels, shampoo/conditioner/body wash and a hair dryer! The setting itself is so beautiful and has an amazing view. The “kitchen” provided has a few things but I would recommend bringing your own equipment for cooking. Lastly, the bed is very firm and unfortunately we were unable to sleep well on it at all, we used some of the outdoor chair cushions to add some extra comfort to it which helped us sleep better the second night but if you aren’t used to an extra firm mattress I would recommend bringing some extra cushion/padding. I would definitely go back again despite this as we had a lovely time. We were lucky enough to have the property to ourselves that weekend so our experience was very private but would just like to mention that the dream catcher site is located between the two other main camping sites on this property. Otherwise this place was super cool and definitely a neat find!

The Dream Catcher site was so awesome! Everything from the outdoor bathtub for an evening soak to the warmth from the heater made for a great visit. The sunset and rise from the property are also to die for! I would recommend this property to anyone that is planning on visiting the area! My pup also loved the freedom of running around the site!

Weekend Trip to Rancho Rio Del Sol: Paso Robles, CA

I originally booked the Dream Catcher, but due to repairs, Laura kindly upgraded us to the Tiny Home! A kind host, they would answer my every Q and offer if we needed anything extra like more charcoal to grill. Upon walking in, you will be blown away 😍 A cozy, vintage & artistic gem, lots of unique decor 🌱 We spun some vinyl, danced under the dimmed lighting, enjoyed homemade meals on the patio, stargazed 🌌 and took in those sunrise views 🌄 It did get a bit chilly at night, but the space heater worked well and the bed was very comfy 😌 WiFi was also steady for streaming movies. Now, the stairs to the sleeping loft / reading nook are steep & narrow — so it can be tricky for those with mobility or body-size considerations. Also, the hot water lasted about 5 minutes before turning lukewarm — just something to be aware of. On the other hand, really appreciated the cleaning supplies & disinfectant sprays that were provided 🧽 All in all, this is truly an ideal stay. From being only 15 minutes away from the world-famous Sensorio Light Exhibit, to then beautiful drives towards the coast, this made for a wonderful getaway. We hope to be able to return down the line 🥰

This is my 2nd stay at this hipcamp. i took a friend this time - we both had 18' camper vans and the site was spacious enough for us to manuever and park in flat spots. It was peaceful, clean and felt safe. I would recommend this site and plan to stay here again.

Great shady spot in the oak forest of north Atascadero. We're road cyclists, and this area is prime cycling territory. Spent 5 wonderful days riding all over the area, even to coast twice. This spot is close to everything the Central Coast has to offer. And you have it all to yourself! No noisy neighbors, only farm animals, deer, crickets & lots of birds. Water & electric hookups were great, plus being able to dump gray water down the hill helped extend our stay. No issues manuevering our 25' TT into the site. Much better choice than any of the overpriced, party atmosphere RV resorts in the area!

Nathan's land was clean and level. He has some turf rugs that is nice to step out into. Very quiet, we were the only campers with our dog. The porta was clean and had toilet paper. We didn't use the shower, but there is potable water. We could see the stars, hear the birds, owls, and coyotes in the morning. It's a quick drive to Morro bay where we could paddle board/kayak. We did not get a chance to try the restaurant, but it is very close to the site. Also when coming in, you actually start at campsite 4 and incline up to 1.

Really cute venue. Nice to walk around and see how they dressed up the place. Had a mule we got to pet from the other side of the fence and some other ranch animals around. Everyone was very nice and the kitchen was great. Got to use the firepit as well and the stars were beautiful.

We had the most wonderful time! The camper is so cute and just spacious enough, it feels very private. The outdoor shower was lovely with very warm water! Great location as well! Close to downtown SLO and the beach. And Pluto really is as spectacular as everyone says, he is truly such a special dog and made us feel so at home. Our whole stay was very picturesque, from waking up and looking out the window at the oak trees to stargazing at night (with Pluto by our sides). We were very sad to leave.

This was the 3rd time we have visited Lorna’s amazing property and it’s always so wonderful. The cozy gnome home is always nice and comfy and the surrounding trees and creek make this spot tranquil and idyllic. The fresh eggs and fruit, the outdoor shower are not to be missed nor is the company of the incomparable Pluto. Can’t wait for next time!

This was our second time at this beautiful glamping site on the farm, just 8 minutes from Avila Beach, and it’s truly a special place. My son, Rio, loved feeding the horses and goat, chasing the chickens with Pluto the dog, and splashing in the creek. Pluto happily tagging along. Evenings were spent making s’mores under the stars. We’ll definitely keep coming back!

This was a lovely spot! It was easy to locate and Nathan was very friendly. This is set up nicely with a level lot and turf next to each spot. There was a clean porta- potty, outdoor shower, and water. We enjoyed the birds and wildlife in the area. We felt secluded and safe. We didn’t hear any road noise at all. We would definitely book again when in the area!

This is probably one of my favorite hipcamps I ever stayed at. Everything is so thoughtfully curated for you, it made my stay super comfy. The only thing I brought of my own was my cooking set up, but other than that this place has everything you could need. It felt private, the views were spectacular and it’s close to whatever activity you’ve got on your list. It was lovely for a solo trip and I look forward to return with good company. Highly recommend!
