My dad bought the farm in 1974 and it used to be a working dairy and sheep farm. My dad passed away while cutting our 6 acre oat field on mothers day 2003, our little farm started to break down. We have been working on it to bring it back to life and I hope to have it up and running strong again. Sadly I just lost my mother on Aug 6th and my father Aug 13th. Alot of loss but hopefully i can have a garden soon to offer more options for our guests. Learn more about this land: Our farm is 3miles west of town within 10 miles to Black Butte lake for fishing, boating, hiking, and even disk golf. Right off of I-5 by a Pilot travel center. 4496 county road DD and also shows as Orange grove ave on some GPS maps. Public pool 3miles(1pm-5pm, water arobics Tue and Thur 6-7pm $2, family night Tue and Thur 730-9pm June-Aug) as well as shopping and dining within 3miles. Great sunset and area to roam for a bike ride or walk in the country in our little hick town with only about 8000 population. It is very likely you will hear animals so if your a light sleeper you may want ear plugs. Chickens crow and roam, cows bellow from all sides, and dogs bark and welcome guests. No trespassing signs are for hunters and people that DO NOT have permission to be here. Driveway is rough and we are working on getting it fixed asap so please take your time coming up. There is FIELD roaches you may see soon after we irrigate, they are bigger then the nasty cockroach but harmless. The wind can be rough at times up here on our lil hill so be prepared with extra rope to tie down and secure if your in a tent, also park vehicle to help block from wind and driveway. It does get up into the high 100°s here during the summer so it would be good to have shade or plan to keep cool during the hottest parts of the day. The toilet is a outhouse with solar lights and does not flush, there is shavings to drop when done. Longer stays are best done at sites 4 and 5 further from the driveway. Quick stops just to sleep are best at 1 and 2. Rainy weather only sites 5, 6 and 1 are usable sadly.

In the 1960’s, a mile of railroad tracks was laid and the whistle of a small, steam engine train could be heard throughout the community. Local residents and kids were treated to free train rides and special events for many years. There is a natural spring with a small creek that supplies the ponds with fresh water year around. There is also a small canyon on the property with a larger stream called Mud Creek. The land is rich in Indian history and there a artifacts and other signs on the Indians presence. The Cohasset area is relatively unknown. 15 miles from our property is Deer Creek and the Lasson National Forest is about a 2 hour drive north. While staying with us you can pitch your tent on our private 500 acres. We have 2 primitive camping spots on our property. Each spot has a picnic table and fire pit. There is a flush toilet shared for both camp sites. * During freezing weather the toilets may be closed so they don’t freeze! Please check before booking *The spots are spread out to ensure privacy. Our property is surrounded by the forest and is loaded with deer, squirrels, turkeys and other forest animals. We have numerous walking trails, a fresh water pond for fishing and swimming. Please notify us if you have an RV. Site 1 is best for RV's. Site 2 can accommodate smaller RV's.

On the property itself there is 3 year round flowing creeks. Lots of Deer on the property since we don’t hunt and so they come on our land as a little sanctuary. Beautiful view of the Shasta area mountains. Multiple places to hike and find water holes. There is Poison Oak on the property, please be mindful. There are bears, but will normally stay away from the campsite. Please put your food away to prevent wildlife from coming into your camp. There are fish in the Sacramento River that can be fished for. This is the wilderness, there are mosquitos, flys, and other bugs. Please bring bug spray.

Weekend Trip to Maple Creek Ranch

My family and I had the best time camping at Maple Creek Ranch. We stayed at Site 2, which was privately nestled among the trees—clean, flat, and perfectly peaceful. The site included a deep firepit and a sturdy picnic table, making it easy to relax and cook meals together. The amenities were fantastic. There was a spotless outhouse just about a hundred feet away (with a flushing toilet!), and a hot shower next to the pond. The pond itself was stocked with bluegill and bass, and my family caught their first-ever fish there—an unforgettable memory! But the highlight of our stay was Ron, the host. He’s an absolute gem—so kind, genuine, and full of great stories. He brought us firewood and water and when my car battery died on our last day, he didn’t hesitate to drive over with his truck and give me a jump. His hospitality truly made our trip special. We’ll absolutely be coming back and can’t recommend Maple Creek Ranch enough to anyone visiting the Cohasset/Chico area!

The site was a very, very private and beautiful setting next to a very old oak tree. The site had no amenities except a pretty old picnic table. But honestly for the price to be able to just take my little trailer and just pop inside and go to bed and feeling safe because I was on a property that was behind a locked gate., I couldn’t have asked for much more.

Peaceful area. There were three horses roaming when I was there, but they mostly kept to themselves. I can see what others meant about the road noise, but it's intermittent and never bothered me. The Pilot over on I5 has a convenient dump station and propane. Best local option for water is probably the Primo fill machines out front of stores in Corning. (Corning is a nice little town! Solid Mexican food, really nice Ace Hardware.) No issues with cell service.

Weekend Trip to Bigfoot Lodging Vacation Rentals

BigFoot Lodging campground is a beautiful little hidden gem. With healthy tall pinetrees there is shade and beauty at each site. Sites are wide with plenty of room for a tent if someone in your crew doesn't want to sleep in the RV (our daughter!). Picnic table at each site. Fire pits, although there are no grates over the fire pits in case you wanted to cook that way. GORGEOUS little waterfall 5 min walk from the camping sites. Helpful hosts. Small store with all those little things you forgot. Firewood available for $10 per bundle, cheaper than the convenience store or the dollar store in Shingletown. It's just a really pretty little campground that we will definitely be returning to!

We stayed at Michael’s property right on the Trinity River, and it was a great experience. The directions were easy to follow, making it simple to find. The campground was clean, and the host was friendly and helpful. The best part was having the entire site to ourselves, which was a huge plus. River access was convenient, and we spent plenty of time by the water. There’s also plenty of shade around the property to set up your tent. The only thing to mention is that the campsite is fairly close to the boat launch, so you might hear some activity during the day. Other than that, it’s an excellent spot to camp.

Weekend Trip to Maple Creek Ranch

Maple Creek Ranch is so magical. The pond and surrounding area have everything you could want for a relaxing family vacay -- the outdoor kitchen and flush toilet and hot shower, the sandy little beach and every kind of boat to paddle around in, and the lovely forest shade and breezes keeping it comfortable at the ranch even when the weather is absolutely broiling just down the hill in Chico. The surrounding areas burned in a fire recently, but nature is already rebounding, and we enjoyed hiking through the burned areas to see the baby trees starting to re-green the landscape.

RIGHT ON THE RIVER! Fish jumping right in front of you. I caught a little rainbow every morning I was there off a tiny fly. Too small to keep but the experience was amazing. There are big fish in the river too but were too wise to what I was fishing with. Its right by the boat launch so you can take your floatables and cruze down the river as long as you have a ride back to camp. We had an awesome time, a gem on the trinity river!

Kristy's land was well marked and easy to find, even when arriving at night. Kristy communicated clearly and was very hospitable. I was just passing though but would like to revisit to experience everything the property had to offer.

3 nights at Maple Creek Ranch

I loved camping here! I've done a lot of camping this summer and this was one of my favorites. We met the owner, Ron, and he is very cool and helpful. Told us about the property, where to go on a hike, brought us a firewood. Very honored to be able to stay here. We stayed at campsite #2 and it was huge, plenty of space and far away from campsite #1 and the AirB&B. Felt very private and secluded, which is a big deal. I don't always want to camp where it's super crowded and campsites are on top of each other. There is a walk to the swimming area from the campsite, but it was so nice. The water felt great in the heat. We saw deer, dragonflies, hummingbirds, butterflies. Bathrooms were the nicest bathrooms ever! So clean, flushable. Outside shower is also very nice. We want to come here every summer!

3 nights at Maple Creek Ranch

We love this spot and it’s now on our annual list! The camp site was so beautiful with trees all around. You felt like the only ones out there. Camp had plenty of shade spots throughout the day plus we brought a pop up tent for extra chill zones. The site had one of the best fire rings I’ve had at any camp site. Perfect sizing and nice and deep. If fires are an important part of your experience, remember to check on fire restrictions! Ron is the best!! He made sure to come meet us and give a full run down of the property to make sure we were comfortable. We even pinged him a couple times throughout the weekend and he was just so kind and wonderful to talk to. The pond and common area are just a 5 min walk from camp and it’s such a cute vibe with dragonflies all around, lush green plants, and gorgeous trees. There are fish and turtles in the pond too! There’s bathroom and outdoor shower near the pond as well. WiFi works at the pond but not really at the camp site (if that’s important to you). We hiked the trail that leads down to the creek which is so serene with wild flowers and dappled sunlight. We sat, enjoyed the sounds of the creek and watched the butterflies and hummingbirds do their thing. We had such a magical time. 10/10 recommend.
