A wonderful site to camp at! Julian was very helpful! From guiding to the campsite, providing firewood, even setting up the fire nights fire! This site was very peaceful, a little tucked away from the world. You could hear wildlife around, woodpeckers, turkeys, even saw some deers. Amazing sunset and views of the stars. Stayed for two nights and I'd stay again in the future.

We had an amazing stay and would give this campsite a full 5-star review.
The spot is beautiful, quiet, and truly rustic/“off-the-grid” — very private with no nearby neighbors, so it feels like real nature. The host was outstanding: friendly, responsive, and went above and beyond. He brought us dry firewood, and even included cardboard/kindling in the wood bundle, which made starting the fire incredibly easy.
A few tips for future guests:
Directions: The last stretch can be confusing and GPS may not be reliable. It’s best to remember the way in, and don’t hesitate to call/text the host for guidance (he was extremely helpful).
Vehicle: 4WD/AWD is recommended, especially after rain/snow when it gets muddy. We drove a RWD Tesla and had to retry a couple steeper/muddy spots. In dry conditions, 2WD should be fine if you take it slow.
Leveling: The campsite is mostly flat with a slight slope in places — if sleeping in a car/van, bring a couple leveling blocks.
Overall, an excellent experience. We’d happily come back and highly recommend it!

Weekend Trip to Cosumnes River Ranch
Wow what an absolutely beautiful property. Rachel and Jon are very kind and helpful. We enjoyed a few hours of hiking around the property. Loved seeing so much wild life and the sweet cows that graze around the property. I can see why summer would be a more enjoyable time to visit.
We stayed in cabin # 2 and although a very beautiful spot and cabin, For the $480 for 2 nights price I was surprised there wasn’t sheets/blankets or a propane stove or bbq or some way to cook food. so make sure you bring anything necessary to cook food and linens and blankets for the bed. There is a fire pit outside but no grill or way to cook food. It does have a wood stove inside as a heat source so make sure you also bring firewood especially in the colder months.

This was our second time camping at Cosumnes River Ranch. The river is amazing. The campsites and spacious and private, and even when the weather is hot the river valley provides a shelter from the heat. Tom is a very friendly and knowledgeable host, and the porta-potties are clean!

Weekend Trip to Cosumnes River Ranch
Exceeded our expectations! The swimming hole was beautiful and the river was great for kayaking. It is shared with the other cabin so it’s a great spot to get with friends and rent both out. We got lucky and the second cabin wasn’t occupied. It is very private and quiet. The bed was very comfortable. There was a portable toilet really close which was super convenient! We went to the pond near by and caught a couple huge bass! It sure is a hidden gem. Can’t wait to go back!

Once again we had an incredible stay at the river! I’m hesitant to recommend this place to others for fear that it will become too difficult to visit our favorite place. I think site 18 is our new favorite— perfect for a group of adults and a dog!

We camped at site #4, a shady site on a small rise at Sawyers Bar. It’s a little above the Cosumnes River, but a short walk from a common area swimming hole with small beach. The swimming hole is delightful in mid-September.

Great campsite! Secluded and has great views. Portable toilet was really clean and smelled amazing the entire trip. Good fishing at the river and swimming hole was perfect for swimming and kayak activities. Dogs loved it as well.

I would like to gatekeep this campsite, but it’s just too good and would want other friends to experience the amazing-ness of this property like I did. Such a fun time being right next to the river and being able to be absolutely alone was 10/10. We were able to find the location just fine, set up, relax, enjoy cooking (with a couple bees of course), relax in the river with our tubes and soak in the sun. There was surprisingly no one near us, which was another bonus because the toilets were so clean and it was such a quiet & relaxing night! We’ll definitely be back! Such a special spot full of memories now.

Our family had an amazing late summer experience - hiking, swimming and enjoying this beautiful ranch in Amador County along the Consumnes River. The hosts were very friendly and helpful. For swimming, Tom recommended the Swimming Hole at Sawyer’s Bar, which was perfect for our six year old - a nice sandy beach with little to no current in the shallows. The campsite was spacious and clean with lots of shade and plenty of space between other sites, which made the site feel very private. We visited with a travel trailer and thought the dirt road to the campsites was well maintained when we visited. We cannot wait to visit again!

What a wonderful gem of a place! The easy access to river and the calm, peaceful surroundings were a perfect way to spend the weekend. The river current was calm enough to float around all day long and enjoy on a hot day. There are wasps that joined us during dinner time (both evenings) so definitely be prepared for that. The porta potty nearby is also very clean and well maintained.
