We are located 1.4 miles south of Interstate 40 (Exit 193) in Hazen, Arkansas with easy access. We have had many great guest come and stay on our property and have been able to recharge for the next days journey. Batesville Mountain Campground is about "getting away from it all" with nary another soul in sight. If you have qualms about being alone in the woods -- this is NOT the place!!
There are only four campsites on the entire property so you are always out of sight and hearing of any -- you can even upgrade for $10/night and have the entire property all to yourself! It is that special!! And absolutely jaw-dropping beautiful! Sparky, the stone mason who quarried, cut and stacked every rock on every trail within the campground, has created a wondrous place to come camp and explore. We are also now restoring Sparky's original homestead -- the one room Green Cabin is soon to be our new "romantic retreat" with outdoor kitchen and shower, chicken house, and two-hole traditional Swedish "utedass"–or privy. As to where to sleep ... well you may lay your head anywhere -- under the stars, atop a pinnacle, out in a field or sheltered in the woods by the river.
BUT this is "DIY" camping -- as we have day jobs we are unable to cater to your every whim and you will have to be able to "depend on yourself" to negotiate the campground, set up your campsite and secure needed resources. Thus if there is any concern or question you really should stay at one of our other properties either Camp Toasty or Pinnacle Springs Recreational Camp. PLEASE -- we don't want to be bothered with phone calls and text messages -- not here anyway.
Trails from Sparky's Cabin lead in all directions offer access to hiking, swimming, fishing and paddling. You'll find no better place to "forest bathe".

Ideal spot to take a break for a day or 2 to relax, camp out, and do some fishing. It can be a little tricky if you are pulling a RV. We've been able to get a 32-footer (pictured) but there is a particular way to maneuver in there.

Keep it as simple as possible on the edge of the woods. Pitch a tent, do some fishing, or just chill and read your favorite books. Our little Lakeview hide-away is ideal for a quick get-away that's not too far away. Even if you forget to bring something, there a gas station with fishing supplies less than 8 minutes drive.

Im considering going back immediately. This is the solitude and peace I’ve been driving around the country looking for (even though it’s in Jason’s backyard!) Plus it has water and electric hookups! You can really have it all! Per Jason’s recommendation, I got up early to watch the sun rise over the Arkansas river. It was perfect. You really park as close as humanly possible to the river, like it’s your RV, then a slope, then the river. I spent a day playing guitar on the steps that lead down to the water’s edge, and I think I’d do that every day if I could. Thanks for sharing heaven!

Extraordinary! One of the most beautiful places we have ever camped. The images can do the talking! The site sits directly next to, and well above, the Arkansas River that - at this point - runs directly West- East giving utterly amazing sunsets and sunrises. Tranquil, with beautiful bird song, friendly dogs, electric and water hook-up, super easy access and lovely host.
A small but “top tip” for future campers arriving after dark. Do trust your GPS when it tells you to turn into Easterwood Point Road, to access Jones Lane, a mile or so after leaving the I40. It looked so dark we hesitated, worrying if it would get us into difficulty, but it’s the right route and can accommodate the biggest rigs.
Anyhow, bottom line, it’s a brilliant rural riverside campsite and sits conveniently between Little Rock and Conway (a gorgeous College Town worth visiting in its own right)

This is a great spot, right on the Arkansas River with fantastic views. Very quiet and peaceful. There are a few neighbors nearby that were very quiet the night that we were there but it’s mainly surrounded by farm land and woods. Jason was out of town for our stay but his communication and information were excellent. Highly recommended.

I enjoyed my 1st Hipcamp experience here. I wanted to camp somewhere else, besides the usual locations & here wasn’t but about another 15 minute drive. The scenery was beautiful & being able to use Jason’s deck, chairs, ect was relaxing. Price is comparable to staying at a state park or Corps of Engineers also. The privacy I had was worth the few $ more. Will definitely camp here again soon.

Jason's place and his hospitality were great. We arrived after a long work week and his brief greeting and lay of the land were very helpful and informative. The site has everything you need to enjoy a peaceful day right next to the Arkansas River. Watching the barges go by was a really cool perk too. I would highly recommend this stay for anyone.

We really loved the property! Our heeler Ruby had just enough room to walk around after our long drive. we visited family and were minutes from their home. We will return on our next visit if it is available.
