We do have a Queen Sized outdoor bed and bedding available to add to rental for $10/night. Bunkhouse is a camping experience - bring your own bedding. Just pray you have enough disk space on your camera! The Legendary Talimena Byway is just a few miles down the road; a 54 mile winding wonderland across the backs of the mighty Winding Stair and Ridge Mountains with dozens of pull-offs and vistas that are a feast for the senses. Plenty of Ouachita’s endless hiking trails can be accessed from the byway. Kayaking the incredible Kiamichi river can also be on your agenda. The Legendary Talimena Byway is just a few miles down the road; a 54 mile winding wonderland across the backs of the mighty Winding Stair and Ridge Mountains with dozens of pull-offs and vistas that are a feast for the senses. Plenty of Ouachita’s endless hiking trails can be accessed from the byway. Kayaking the incredible Kiamichi river can also be on your agenda. Check out paddlers websites and forums for details and ideal entry points. Anyone like fishing? Oklahoma’s premier Bass fishing lake, Cedar Lake is a short 20 minute drive. Just wait till you see this lake; the happy little lake you’d expect in a Bob Ross masterpiece. Morning Light Mountain Lodge is a beautiful and wild place with plenty to keep you busy enjoying God’s Creation. It has a remote feel but is easily accessible from Talihina, LeFlore, Wister, Poteau, and Fort Smith, AR. Come and visit this magical place. You’ll be glad you did!

Each season offers its own kind of experience and beauty AWD highly recommended!!! Cabin is up a 1-mile dirt road, part is smooth, part is a bit rough. Steep, unpaved hills. Off-grid. No electricity. A few battery lanterns provided Solar A/C will be available sometime in April/May 2026 (in process of installing). Hot water outdoor shower and bathtub. Running water inside cabin at kitchen sink, cold water only. Outhouse behind cabin The cabin is on untreated well water. 2 gal's of potable drinking water provided. Wood-burning stove for heat. Please use with CAUTION! Free wood for stove and campfire provided! STRICT burn ban policy. Bedding/towels provided Stocked kitchen, 2-burner gas cooktop The cabin is private, surrounded by woods. There are neighbors in the distance. You may occasionally hear faint sounds of them working in their yard. A neighbor 1/4-mile away occasionally does target practice, so gun shots may be heard in the distance, but it is rare and brief. Same for hunting season We live 10 minutes away Family lives on lower part of the property We sometimes might be present on the lower part of the property, but will respect your privacy. Grumpy neighbor lives at the bottom driveway. If you encounter him, just tell him Curtis and Morgan invited you. Please just don't pull/back onto his driveway! Please call us if he gives any trouble My husband and I built this tiny cabin with our bare hands. No equipment, no other help. We wanted something to share with family, friends and anyone else looking to get away from this overly modern and exhausting world. It seems places like this available to people are disappearing.
