High Desert Surrounded by Mule Mountain Range and Mexican Border

Camp Etowa

Former ranch land in the historic old mining town of Bisbee, Arizona. Ongoing projects -
restoring the orchard, growing new varieties of flowers,
cacti and other drought tolerant plants that are "appropriate" for the high desert with Etowa Farms, harvesting and milling mesquite, irrigation, water harvesting, recycled bottle and can walls, composting
and turning the corral into a music venue. We are committed to the wildlife and ecosystem at Camp Etowa and will be hosting
 a swap meet and sessions
in sustainability, art, survival and wilderness medicine soon. We have two very friendly service dogs, an owl and a hawk that hang out with us, javalena, jack rabbits, mule deer, quail, doves and coyote that will sing to you on clear nights (sometimes even if it's cloudy). We love kids and dogs, but this is tuly wilderness; so be prepared to for the occasional encounter.

High Lonesome Vineyard & Hipcamp

Our first introduction to the wine and vineyard industry came when a now fellow colleague greeted us wearing a t-shirt, shorts and flip-flops. Thoroughly enjoying the idea of wearing this “work suit” every day, High Lonesome Vineyard went from a concept to reality. Located only 20 miles east of Tombstone, Arizona and 8 miles southwest of Elfrida, Arizona, High Lonesome Vineyard consists of approximately 36 acres of rich sandy loam in a fertile valley surrounded by mountains on all directions. And at an elevation of about 4,300 feet, the area experiences a four-season climate with summer temperatures seldom exceeding 100 degrees. Hikers, bird watchers and nature loving folks come to this area every year just for the warm summer breezes and clear night skies. This area also boasts of spectacular views of the early morning rising sun and incredible sunsets.  Come enjoy rustic camping here in the Vineyard Hipcamp area and experience the awesomeness that southeastern Arizona has to offer.Learn more about this land:Come camp next to a working vineyard with exceptional views of the desert sky.  You pick your spot as long as it is not directly in the vineyard, and enjoy the peaceful and tranquil sounds of the desert wildlife. High Lonesome Vineyard is located about 20 miles southeast of Tombstone, Arizona and 8 miles west of Elfrida, Arizona. You can easily commute to Tombstone to see the legends of the old west or drive on over to Elfrida/Gleeson area and see the old mining ghost towns. If active mining is your thing, visit Bisbee which is only 25 minutes away. Also, with a working cattle ranch nearby, take the opportunity to visit and see the daily workings of one of southeast Arizona's biggest ranches. A visit to the ranch is for a nominal fee and subject to availability. Wine tastings are also available for a small fee in addition to the camping fee. We have 6 German Shepherds that do what they do as guard dogs, bark when alerted. We take extra steps to keep the dogs quite for you at night during your stay, but its a high probability they will bark at you.

The tasting patio is beautiful and a perfect hangout, complete with fire pit!

There is a port-a-potty available for campers, one of the cleanest ones we've ever seen!

LeRoy & Paula's Alpacas

just a quick walk to the San Pedro River or a short drive to Tombstone and Bisbee.Learn more about this land:  Pitch your tent on four primitive acres and enjoy plenty of walking trails and enjoy a fire on our cool desert evenings.  Each site can accommodate 2 vehicles and 2 large tents.  The sites are surrounded by Mesquite trees (be mindful of the thorns). It's a short walk to the main house, where you will pass a herd of Alpacas to get water from our well.   Book a farm tour and learn all about the animals and why we raise them.  We love to share our love of Alpacas with everyone.  You can even take some Alpaca fiber with you by visiting our farm store.

3:10 to Dragoon

Dragoon is rich in history and natural beauty. The name comes from the 3rd U.S. Calvary Dragoons who battled the Chiricahua Apaches here led by Chief Cochise during the Apache Wars. Nearby, you can visit the confederate graves and ruins of the Dragoon Springs Stage Station. About 20 minutes away is Cochise Stronghold, home and burial place of Chief Cochise and Chiricahua Nat'l Monument is about an hour away (great hiking and climbing!). Unique to this area are the amazing rock formations of pillars, balances, and stacked rocks caused by cooled volcanic granite 50 million years ago.  In addition, our area is home to hundreds of different bird species, the occasional Gila monster, coyotes, deer, and javalina.

You can also find a small gym.Chiricahua Nat'l Monument, Cochise Stronghold, Willcox Wine Trail, Hiking, Cycling, Horseback riding, Museums, Sightseeing, Bird Watching, Fishing & Many Vineyards  just to name a few are all in the area.- Wine tastings are offered all over this area and very popular (we're in the heart of Arizona Wine Country), Bird Watching (we're located between the San Pedro Riparian National Conservation Area and the Willcox Playa),  And then there is the Saloon only 2 miles away- it is an old time saloon dating back to 1800's and historic to many of some ALL time favorite Western movies - It's open to the general public on Saturday nights. Let's not forget the Confederate graves and Stage Coach ruins which is also just down the road.
