40 acres of primeval Juniper forest, with trees dated at 1200 years old, create the perfect solitude getaway. Camping here in Coconino County north of Ash Fork and Seligman, down 10 miles of isolated dirt road - this is far enough away to feel remote and surrounded by nothing but ancient trees. Yet there are many cool destinations not far away: Once you get out to the highway, Williams is 30 minutes away so you can plan you visit to the Grand Canyon or ride the Grand Canyon Railway. Another 30 minutes in that direction to reach Flagstaff with its skiing, nightlife, observatory, and eclectic culture. Continue exploring and you can visit the red rocks of Sedona, the natural caves of Peach Springs, and the crystal-blue waterfalls at Havasupai.
While you're camping, enjoy the peace and quiet surrounded by meadows and ancient Juniper trees. Bring your fifth wheel, camper, toyhauler, or even your tent. Bring as many friends with you as you'd like - there's plenty of space. Sit around a campfire of sweet-smelling Juniper wood while you roast marshmallows. Depending on the time of year, hunting may be in season, with Deer and Elk. Remember that hunting is permitted if you have a valid hunting license, on the adjacent mile-wide parcel of State Trust land sprawling out to the west of the property.
Roads are accessible most of the year with just about any kind of vehicle - as long as the weather is nice. So be sure the check the weather report or almanac before planning your visit. If the weather is dry, just about any kind of car, truck or trailer can make it down the 10-miles of dirt road to get to the property. If rain is on the calendar, you're going to need 4-wheel-drive and clearance. The dirt roads develop deep mud patches that can mire most cars or trailers. There will also be snow in the wintertime - so plan accordingly for mud, ice, and rough roads. But most of the year is easy as long as it's dry!

Meadview Arizona was founded in 1826 by Jedediah Smith on his Southwest Expedition in search for Beaver! Staying a small remote and quiet town it can feel like it would have in the Wild West.
We obtained our campground from a couple that owned it for 20 years but just weren't able to do to it what they had originally planned.. So it was essentially a blank canvas for us to create!! We are the closest town to the Grand Canyon SKYWALK, which is just 40 minutes from us. Meadview, the town we are located, is the only place to obtain Free Entree to the Lake Mead Recreational Center. Our Campground just 10 miles from Lake Mead and 17 Miles from the Colorado River. We have outstanding Lookouts, Top notch Stargazing, Gold Prospecting, Bird Watching, Fishing, Off Roading etc.
Some of the Best Desert Off-Roading through trails within the Joshua Tree National Forest, Please note you must bring your own OHV, horse, etc, there is currently no rentals available. We do have Kayaks to rent upon arrival. There is a hidden water fall in the Grapevine Wash that you can get to with a 4 wheel vehicle and you hike in about 15 minutes in. Stunning views and gorgeous natural spring and waterfall.
We are 45 minutes off the 93 Freeway
Free WIFI provided at the office!.. The town doesn't always have a powerful signal, please keep that in mind in your travels. However, if you have Verizon, it gets GREAT service!
There are three restaurants in town, all just one mile from site... The Boathouse, Anchor Smokehouse and Fishermans Landing Bar. We have a Bakery called Rosemary and Thyme that serves Delicious foods & Pastries and makes great coffees. There is also a Gas n Grub that has ice, propane etc... 5 miles away is a Family Dollar store which we lovingly call the "Mall of Meadview"

No Roads actually make it to my property, The only way to get there is through the brush following game trails for just under half a mile. You should have downloaded good maps for offline use, and have a GPS that works. The area is a gorgeous valley surrounded by mountains, with big granite boulders everywhere and rarely any people. It is about 5 miles south of the grand canyon western ranch up into the mountains. the road in crosses state lands and ranch lands, game and fish have a sign in sheet at the beginning of iron springs canyon road. Please leave gates as you found them. Once there you can pretty much park and camp anywhere but the last mile of road is serious 4x4.

There is one ranch road leading in that passes through private and public lands. Please leave any gates as you found them. The area is generally thick scrub brush. This Area is high desert, It is on top of the Grand wash Cliffs. About 5000ft elevation so a little cooler. There are Joshua trees and Juniper trees. It is a nice area to ride or hike around and explore.. It is about 5.5 miles in, up the road behind the Grand Canyon Glamping Resort. The dirt roads are not too bad. High clearence recommended. We Usually see Wildlife, Pronghorn Antelope and Mule Deer. There are Often also cattle grazing in the area. There is a view of meadview, lake Mead , And Vegas at night, from atop the grand wash cliff about a mile NW and of Part of Grand Canyon 2 miles up the road and a short walk (a couple hundred yards), i would have to send you a GPS pin for that spot.
Our phone usually seem to be able to get service up there. It is common for Grand Canyon tour helicopters to pass low overhead.

It is very near the Grand Canyon west five miles up into a mountain valley called Iron Springs Basin. Behind The Grand Canyon western ranch. There is one ranch road leading in that passes through private and public lands. Please leave any gates as you found them. The area is generally thick scrub brush. This Area is high desert, It is on top of the Grand wash Cliffs. About 5000ft elevation so a little cooler. There are Joshua trees and Juniper trees. It is a nice area to ride or hike around and explore.. It is about 5.5 miles in, up the road behind the Grand Canyon Glamping Resort. The dirt roads are not too bad. High clearence recommended. We Usually see Wildlife, Pronghorn Antelope and Mule Deer. There are Often also cattle grazing in the area. There is a view of meadview, lake Mead , And Vegas at night, from atop the grand wash cliff about a mile NW and of Part of Grand Canyon 2 miles up the road and a short walk (a couple hundred yards), i would have to send you a GPS pin for that spot.
Our phone usually seem to be able to get service up there. It is common for Grand Canyon tour helicopters to pass low overhead.

Castle Peaks is one of the stars here—a cluster of imposing spires that climb skyward. The peaks are composed mainly of volcanic tuff, and the deep erosion of the rocks has created distinct, sharp summits. You're also rewarded for your efforts to get here by lush grasslands, Joshua tree forests, mountain vistas, and abundant wildlife. The rugged Mojave Desert is home to mountain lions, bighorn sheep, golden eagles, coyotes, and bobcats.
Castle Mountains National Monument is always open, but the best times to come are spring and fall. March and April are peak times. The spring rains turn the desert into a carpet of vivid, vibrant wildflowers. Summers are very hot, with daytime temps in excess of 100 degrees Fahrenheit.

We had a wonderful stay at Serenity Trail Adobe near Meadview. It was the perfect place to explore the desert and enjoy the quiet beauty of the area. The space was comfy, cozy, and felt like a peaceful retreat after a day of adventure.
Our hosts, Lisa and Rick, were fantastic. They responded quickly to messages and were very helpful with anything we needed, which made the whole experience smooth and welcoming.
If you’re looking for a relaxing desert getaway with great hosts and a comfortable place to stay, Serenity Trail Adobe is a great choice. We would happily stay here again! 🌵✨

Great views from the pods, and I really enjoyed getting to know the folks on the land and was inspired and impressed by the entire operation. Community kitchen was well stocked with pots, pans and ovens/burners, and the bathhouse was clean.

I truly enjoyed Tent Camping at Lothars property. Place offers lots of space for the gear as well as privacy from surroundings. You will be surrounded by Joshua Trees and peaceful silence. Spot is in open so attractive to wind but if you visit out of winter it could be a blessing. When the sunset time comes you will be a spectator to amazingness of nature, sunsets are to die for. Light pollution is not existent so night sky is at the finest. Lothar is a great host and very responsive to any of your questions & requests. I recommend the place and surely will be back!

A peaceful and a very quiet place. I also felt extremely safe on this property. The juniper trees are just gorgeous and you can walk for miles. I had no problems getting there in my 2 wheel drive. Donna helped me pick out a wonderful spot where I had the most spectacular sunsets.

This is probably my favorite Hipcamp, ever. Donna’s horse just showed up out of the blue, stood on the other side of my camping mat and listened to me chat about my day! I went to hike to find some old turquoise mines that Donna told me about and she (the horse, not Donna) even followed me a bit! The rocks all over the wash and property are show-stopping. The petrified wood, plants, and mountains are all beautiful, and Donna is so helpful and kind. I’ll be back for sure!

The views are beautiful. There is a common area where campers can chill with each other and get info on local beauty. The people managing the grounds are very easy to get along with. I would highly recommend stopping here if you can. The bathrooms and shower

Happy Trails is a beautiful place with. Great view of the canyon. The people that maintain the place are very cool, it’s a great little community. What a hidden gem of a spot to camp with family! If you’re looking for a place to set up camp near the Skywalk at Grand Canyon definitely check out Happy Trails. Keep an eye on the weather, the roads can get a bit mushy on your way in and out. I would definitely stay here again :)

Was just a blank space in the desert that I intended to use for astronomy. The highway is about a mile or a mile and a half away. There’s one there but you. Gerardo is very helpful if you reach out to him. Good instructions for how to get there, though I suggest reviewing it on Google maps before you go. The most helpful tip he gave was the GPS coordinates so you could find it on the map.

10 mile dirt road is not a problem for any vehicle. I drove a class C RV. Just go slow and enjoy the sights!

We spent a night with our RV, great experience, a safe and comfortable space easy to reach. I only remark the malfunction of the solar panel lights, bring some flashlights! Every now and then you hear the train passing nearby, if you have a light sleep I recommend earplugs. Maria was very kind and responsive, thank you!

Welcoming people at the reception office. I had called ahead to ask about road conditions coming from Kingman. I was given a great advice to not go out of my way by using US93 but rather use N Stockton Hill Rd, i.e. Route 20, to Meadview. Very useful. Besides, we wanted to hike on a trail nearby but, again, were given a useful advice not to engage in such an activity without being very careful because of rattlesnakes presence. They are present because they are waking up from hibernation and can be very agressive. Otherwise the spot was fully equipped with functional hook-ups. Nice view and very quiet. Also a good spot for stargazing.
