Our first introduction to the wine and vineyard industry came when a now fellow colleague greeted us wearing a t-shirt, shorts and flip-flops. Thoroughly enjoying the idea of wearing this “work suit” every day, High Lonesome Vineyard went from a concept to reality. Located only 20 miles east of Tombstone, Arizona and 8 miles southwest of Elfrida, Arizona, High Lonesome Vineyard consists of approximately 36 acres of rich sandy loam in a fertile valley surrounded by mountains on all directions. And at an elevation of about 4,300 feet, the area experiences a four-season climate with summer temperatures seldom exceeding 100 degrees. Hikers, bird watchers and nature loving folks come to this area every year just for the warm summer breezes and clear night skies. This area also boasts of spectacular views of the early morning rising sun and incredible sunsets. High Lonesome Vineyard is located about 20 miles southeast of Tombstone, Arizona and 8 miles west of Elfrida, Arizona. You can easily commute to Tombstone to see the legends of the old west or drive on over to Elfrida/Gleeson area and see the old mining ghost towns. If active mining is your thing, visit Bisbee which is only 25 minutes away. Also, with a working cattle ranch nearby, take the opportunity to visit and see the daily workings of one of southeast Arizona's biggest ranches. A visit to the ranch is for a nominal fee and subject to availability. Wine tastings are also available for a small fee in addition to the camping fee. We have 6 German Shepherds that do what they do as guard dogs, bark when alerted. We take extra steps to keep the dogs quite for you at night during your stay, but its a high probability they will bark at you.

Just what we needed for a quick overnight while visiting Bisbee. Roy was very nice, and got us settled in our site. Be aware there are a lot of barking dogs in close proximity. Not a problem in van/camper, but felt like it would have put my dogs on edge if we were in a tent.
Watch out for Google Maps. It recommended the southern route frolm Bisbee, which had a lot of dirt and gravel roads. Northern route is much easier and more straightforward.

Leroy greeted us with a warm smile. He was very informative, accommodating and so generous with his knowledge on Alpaca and this beautiful region. The site was clean and private.
We extended our stay a couple more days because it was so centrally located and we felt safe here.

I work out of town occasionaly and dont like to waste money on motel rooms. Itd great there are places like this where someone can just pitch a tent, and enjoy the quietness of the outdoors. The campsites themselves were great. A small open area surrounded by trees. There were chairs provided around campfire pits. A portapotty was provided, which is a great benefit you dont get while rustic camping. The price was unbeatable! I will definately be back to spend some more time with the awesome hosts, and the adorable animals!

Leo and Amy were very welcoming. They have a little farm and let you be very interactive with the animals. The space had plenty of room. Bring water and your own toilet for more convince. It was nice and quiet at night and you get to wake up to the roosters.

Great campsite. Good location to explore different hiking trails in the area . I enjoyed the little table and chair at my site. The hosts were very warm and friendly.

This Hipcamp experience was well beyond expectations. LeRoy and Paula are excellent hosts and are very enthusiastic about their Alpaca farm. I would reccomended the farm tour to anyone (regardless of age or interest) as it was just an all around fun and interesting experience. Learning about how the Alpaca fleece is processed - with hands on training - even further pushed the value of this Hipcamp. The campsite experience also was well above expectation as it was perfectly flat and spaced well enough away from others for a private and quiet evening. I highly recommend this campsite to anyone looking for an affordable yet dynamic camping experience.

Wow! This Hipcamp experience at Double G Alpacas far exceeded expectations. The Alpaca tour of the farm, store and fleece processing operations is well worth the visit alone. Paula and LeRoy are incredibly welcoming and cordial Hipcamp hosts. The campsite also far exceeded expectations as it is perfectly flat for tent camping and they are positioned far away enough from each other for sufficient privacy. The mountain views in every direction produced nothing less than absolutely epic sunrises and sunsets. I would highly recommend this Hipcamp experience to anyone (regardless of age or interests) as it would be just flat out interesting to anyone. Thanks again LeRoy and Paula.

Paula and Leroy were fantastic hosts so welcoming and friendly. I loved taking the tour of the alpaca farm! The campsite was large and clean. We usually dispersed camp but we were very comfortable. The space felt very private. And it was very nice having a fresh clean porta potty at camp! We will definitely camp here again!

We used this spot as a basecamp for attending the Sidepony Express Music Festival in Bisbee. Tom was wonderful and greeted us upon arrival. There are plenty of spots to setup camp on the property. It's far enough away from the road and main house so it was very quiet. We heard plenty of wildlife at night. There are two porta potties near the vineyard for guests to use, but we ended up not using them because we are self-contained. Tom did offer a wine tasting, however, we weren't able to fit it in on this trip. Next time though! We highly recommend!
