This is a nice spot on a gentle slope that overlooks the beautiful plateaus of Petrified Forest National Park. There is a convenient store located over the bridge, south of the Sun Valley exit off the 40 freeway. Very light locals through traffic. Sits on a hill, further away from all the other homes. Sometimes you can expect wild horses, jack rabbits and cows at a safe distance. Also highway noise depending on direction of wind. Here you can enjoy amazing star gazing and shooting stars on a dark night with no moon. This upgraded spot now has lots more amenities than before. This is an adorable 10x10 non-insulated shed/cabin with one bunk bed above sofa bed, refrigerator, coffee counter top with cabinet storage dishes, pots and pans and utensils. You can also enjoy an indoor wood burning stove or a Portable Buddy heater and a two burner Coleman stove with propane tank, hot or cold running water and sink. We provide a double cartridge toilet that flushes. Enjoy the outdoor patio area with two hammocks, coffee table and chairs, two bonfire pits and even a large dog pen for your small traveling buddies to enjoy. More pictures to come soon. There are some wild horses that also walk around and you may see one or more walk up to the property. (Please be advised they are wild horse so we recommend you don't approach them as they are skittish)Learn more about this land:A small cabin (power with generator optional for a fee). There is a futon and we have an airmatress to accommodate for extra guests. No more than 4 guests in small cabin. There is a grill on site you can use to cook food. Our 80 acre facility includes campsites equipped with horse stalls, camp fire pit's, picnic table's, hook ups for water and power. Each site has its own hitching rail and separate hose hook up for watering/washing horses. We are a horse training ranch. There are 5 round pens, an indoor arena, very large outdoor arena with excellent footing, more than 6 miles of riding trails that are groomed and marked, an obstacle course, a wooden bridge and additional obstacles along the network of trails. We have a large picnic area with hitching rails for up to 30 horses, a large fire pit, a wooden dance floor and a cowboy cooking kitchen, great for parties. Two large enclosed barns and many turn outs with run in sheds. The "Twisted Tree Welcome Center is equipped with a bathroom with a shower, laundry facilities and two loft bedrooms available to rent for $45 per night. The owner is a John Lyons certified horse trainer and a level II Dressage certified instructor, Trish also has more than 20 years training horses and people all over the world. This is a great place to come, ride and camp with your horse. You can also pick up some great pointers from a world class trainer and instructor.

ATTENTION: If you do not have a lifted, high-clearance, 4-wheel drive vehicle with locking differentials, and prepared for self-rescue with a winch, shovel, and rigging DO NOT BOOK THIS CABIN. The cabin sits at the end of an unmaintained, unimproved, dirt road that becomes impassible during winter snow events and summer monsoon rains! The Painted Desert Ranger Cabin is a backcountry, off grid cabin acquired by Ranger Ross in 2011. Ranger Ross lived in the cabin while he worked as a resource protection ranger at the Petrified Forest National Park. The ranger cabin is a rustic off grid cabin that offers no amenities. There is no concierge, room service, or continental breakfast. There is no linen service or fancy little bottles of shampoo. It does however, offer beautiful views of the Painted Dessert wilderness, quiet serenity, and amazing star gazing opportunities. All from the comfort of a cozy one room cabin with a queen size bed and a flush toilet. The ranger cabin sits on the border of the north wilderness area of the Petrified Forest National Park. There are great hiking and exploration opportunities right out the back door of the cabin.
