Weekend Trip to Little Woodland Paradise

Easy stop outside of Montgomery. Flat parking spot on the driveway pad. Quiet pleasant neighborhood. Easy 30 min drive to center city and waterfront. April was a very responsive host and her husband was ready to help when I arrived. He leant me his 50 Ft power cord since mine wouldn’t reach. I would certainly stay again

4 nights at Hidden Branch Campground

Hidden Branch Campground is beautiful and peaceful. Nothing to do — and that’s a GOOD thing! Spent most of my time just listening to birds and reading; even downloaded a Bird Identifier app! (Yes, the WiFi is good enough for that.). Hope we can come back soon.

Weekend Trip to Gullatte Acres

We had an amazing stay here with our German shepherd. He was able to run around with another camper’s dog & had so much fun! We found a nice level spot for our tent on top of the car & enjoyed the sunset with smores. Firewood was provided, which was really nice! The bathroom was clean & had running water, we didn’t use the shower but there was one. Samuel was responsive when we messaged about firewood. We had no problem finding it either!

3 nights at Gullatte Acres

This was my first trip using HipCamp! The host/owner Sam was very friendly welcoming when I arrived and gave me a tour. He responded quickly to questions I had. We all had Verizon cell service and had no issues with calls and data usage. I don't know about other carriers. His farm is beautiful and huge! The weather was perfect for us in mid April, we had dispersed tent camping and found a spot by the lake in the shade. There was plenty of free firewood for us to use. Sam had mentioned they are planning to add more fire rings to the property soon. The bathroom shack was clean with a flush toilet and running water and the outdoor shower was refreshing. There's an outdoor water hydrant for fresh potable water by the shower shack for the primitive campers to use. The sunsets were stunning each night and our dogs loved running around the open fields. We took a walk around the whole property to soak it all in. The Dollar General 5 minutes away was great for quick re-supply runs. We were saying his property would be great for a small music festival! We will likely be back in the fall.

Weekend Trip to Camp in Camp Hill!

Wonderful property to get away for a few nights. My 5 year old son and I had a great time camping and enjoying the outdoors on Emily's land.

1 night at Willow Creek Camping

This was a perfect place for a quick overnight camp after kayaking on the Coosa river at Wetumpka, AL (about 12 minute drive). Campsite overlooking the creek was nice and included a fire pit. The county road was about a quarter mile away so you could hear a car passing every so often but you couldn't see them. Very private. I would stay there again.

1 night at Cosby Ranch

This is a convenient location in Montgomery. The property is beautiful and has a nice flat lawn for van parking. It’s on a busy road so there is some road noise in the early evening but not an issue at night.

Camping on Caleb’s land was pure joy. Our short stay flew by, filled with laughter around the campfire, leaving us eager for a longer adventure next time.

Very secluded sites with no close neighbors, so it is just you and nature. Absolutely incredible and Maximo, the camp host, was great! Extremely accommodating and communicative. I loved everything about camping here and am already making plans for a return trip.

Lynda is a sweetheart! She was super hospitable, answered all of our questions, and has lovely energy. The property is beautiful, peaceful, and dog-friendly. The full hook-up was much appreciated, too. If we’re ever back in the area, we’d be happy to stay here again!

20 nights at Gullatte Acres

I can’t say enough good things about Gullatte Acres. I work remote and live in my airstream with my dog. We originally came here because it was close to a friend I was visiting, but we ended up liking it so much that we extended our stay—twice as long as we’d planned! Sam and his family are truly wonderful hosts—always responsive, friendly, and willing to lend a hand with anything you might need. Their hospitality made the stay feel easy and welcoming from day one. The property itself is peaceful and full of charm. There’s a small pond with boats you’re welcome to use, firewood and fire pits, and they have fresh eggs you can buy. My dog absolutely loved being able to run off-leash and I loved how quiet and relaxing the setting was. The sunrises and sunsets here are absolutely stunning. It's about a 25 minute drive to Columbus, Opelika/Auburn, and Chewacla State Park. I spent most weekends hiking, running, or mountain biking somewhere nearby. If you’re into mountain biking, you’ll love the area—there are tons of great trails all within a short drive. All in all, Gullatte Acres is a gem. Whether you're just passing through or looking for a longer-term spot, it’s hard to beat the peace, nature, and hospitality you’ll find here. We'll definitely be back sometime!

Little Woodland Paradise

Come stay at our charming little woodland paradise. We are located on 2.55 acres, in the country and live on-site, so if you need anything, please let us know. There are security cameras located throughout the property. The gazebo, down the hill from the house, offers a wonderful place to eat, read, drink coffee or play games. We have many games on hand for you to play that are sure to keep you laughing. The rock firepit is large and is perfect for those chilly nights. Firewood available for sale for $5 a bundle. We also have a small smokeless pit up by the gazebo. Please make sure all fires are put out and all tiki torches are extinguished before going to sleep. We do own chickens and have a cute chicken coop down the hill. They're relatively quiet, but you may hear them, during the day, as they're laying. We also have one dog, but she is in the white fenced in area and is very friendly. There are flower beds, flowering trees, bushes and wildflowers scattered among the property. If you come at the right time of year, you'll see all the beautiful blooms. We also have wild blackberries, blueberry bushes and scuppernong vines. Feel free to forage on those while you're with us. There is a lot of wildlife you could potentially see while staying here such as squirrels, chipmunks, beautiful birds of all kinds, lots of butterflies, owls, red tailed hawks, armadillos, racoons and even foxes. After a heavy rain, you will hear our small creek trickling. We have unlimited tent camping sites, with access to a water hose only. They are located down the hill, to the back of our property. Our one back in rv pad has 30 amp electric and water hookups and is located next to the house. 30 foot maximum length rig. We also have one boondocking gravel pad available, with no hookups, that is located across the driveway from our house. Quiet hours are from 10pm until 6am. Absolutely no discharging of firearms allowed at any time. Alcohol is permitted, for those 21 and older, as long as the noise level and behavior don't become a nuisance. There will be no tolerance for use of illegal drugs. Dogs are allowed as long as they aren't aggressive and not allowed to roam outside of our property. Please be sure to clean up after them. Our cute, quaint little town of Wetumpka is only 5 miles down the road. It was featured on HGTV's Hometown Takeover in 2021, was featured in the movie Big Fish and is a picture perfect town, with many locally owned shops and restaurants. It's located right on the Coosa River, where you can kayak in the summer, launch your boat or fish year round. There's also a fantastic park with a nice walking trail that goes along the river. Stop in at Coosa River Craft House or Coosa Cleaver for refreshing adult beverages and live music. Look for the Big Fish house. It's the big white house on the hill. We are 10 minutes from Lake Jordan and 30 from Lake Martin. Fort Toulouse National Historic Park is 15 minutes away. There you can tour over 6,000 years of history. You can tour the French and American Forts or the Mississippian Indian Mound site, or just relax and take a walk along the trails. Just ten minutes north of us is Swayback Bridge. There are five loop trials available, ranging from 1 miles to 11.2 miles. You can hike or bike them. The bridge is 290 feet long and does over Lake Jordan. There are many festivals that happen throughout the year in our cute little town, including the Mardi Gras Festival and Galentine's in Feb., Coosa Palooza Brewfest in April, the River and Blues Music and Arts Festival in July, the Coosa Candy Crawl in Oct., and Christmas on the Coosa in Dec. Wind Creek Casino is only 6 miles from our property, if you want to chance your luck with some gaming. We are 20 miles from Montgomery, which is jam packed with civil rights historical sites, museums, a zoo, fabulous restaurants, a riverboat cruise on the Alabama River, a sip and cycle pedal boat cruise, and a white water rafting park.

Auburn is about 40 mins away. The site offers an outhouse, fire pit, fire pit grill rack for cooking, platform (which can be used for small/medium tents, or to hold a table and chairs) and a hiking trail that is about 1/3 of a mile. Small cars are able to access campsite and park at site pretty easily. The property also has natural wildlife like coyotes, snakes, spiders, ants, etc.. Alabama can also get very hot during June, July, August. Please prepare accordingly. Meeting at the front of the property is not needed, just drive to your hipcamp and set up 🙂 Please message me about any concerns! About us: My wife and I bought this property in 2020 with the goal of turning this land into a homestead. We plan on building a home eventually and have cleared out our homesite. My wife is currently in the army and we are stationed in northern Virginia. My mom and stepfather live at the front of the property and can help you if needed. Come pitch a tent or hang your hammock between the beautiful hardwoods. We currently have primitive tent camping that can easily fit 4-5 tents or hammock camping. Both options sit alongside Sofkahatchee creek. We have 15 acres of untouched forest to wonder through and help you reconnect with mother nature. It’s my favorite spot for meditation and grounding. The sky is amazingly dark around here and stargazing would be at the top of my list of things I love about the property. This area is full of wildlife. Raccoons, deer, turkey, possums, armadillo, snakes, and even bears. I haven’t personally ran in to any bears but they have been sited. So, who knows what you will befriend while in the wild. The camping areas are very private. It’s part of a 50 acre lot that has recently been cleared and in the process of reseeding and preparing for a pond and farm life. So, sorry if you run in to anything that isn’t picturesque but your camp site will be beautiful and peaceful. AMENITIES: We want your stay to be as comfortable as possible! For an additional cost, we offer amenities such as tents, towels, bug deterrent, firewood, fire starters, hand warmers, s’mores kits, camping toilet, gold panning kit, games and more. Was once part of a large tract of land. Loblolly Pines were planted about twenty years ago. There are big areas of pine needles covering the ground.Our Paintball Among the Pines is onsite but not near the camping areas. We seldom have two camp groups at the same time.
