Convenient stop for the night or a few days for RV’s or Tent campers and a good place to get a hot shower - only a easy mile a half from I-20 exit 173 ( Eastaboga - Talladega Superspeedway Exit ) also a good base camp to see Cheaha State Park - bike at Coldwater Mountain- see the Talladega Superspeedway , Combat Park Flea Market , Oxford ballgames or other area Activities - I reserve one RV site and two tent sites for hipcamp and rent the other five RV sites at the top of hill on a monthly basis - these hipcamp sites are wooded, shady with woods between the other sites to give some privacy while still not far from the unique showers made from the old chicken house feed bins -these showers are very functional and I have been complimented that they are the best showers on the east coast

300 acres of family land since 2000. This area was called Boot's Bottoms growing up and the name stuck. There is a rock wall close to the campsite that was a old grist mill site. Plenty of wildlife, bird watching, wildflowers and creek walking. Some old ATV trails for hiking as well. Very remote and quite!

The Dry Bones Live (Ezekiel 37).
The first visit in 2019 to this 21 acres was both a shock and a confirmation. It had everything on our check list and more - nearly flat land, convenient location, but also twice the acreage, a roadbed, diversity, Monarch butterflies everywhere, access to a big lake.....and it was littered with logs!! They were in piles and scattered everywhere.
But this particular land was being placed in my hands to steward and to reveal the creativity and loving nature of Yahweh. And that meant not bulldozing or burning the logs. Instead, the task was to breathe life into the logs and the land through gentle stewardship to protect the biodiversity and build good soil. Breath of Life Farm is being regeneratively developed to cultivate elderberries, vineyards, peaches, mushrooms, and small plantations of trees for wood or nuts.
My sister, Pam, and I hope that visitors will come to enjoy the seasonal changes of flower colors, watch for foot and hoof prints of wildlife, enjoy the songs of the birds and the frogs, see how many different native mushroom species they can spot, and be marveled by the stars as they sparkle in the dark night sky.
Our wish is that through the years, folks return to see the changes and positive impact of regenerative farming practices. To be a witness to the life breathed into this land. We hope you will be inspired, uplifted, strengthened, and energized by the story of Breath of Life Farm.

Got to take advantage of a couple unseasonably warm Feb days so I headed up to Bug Tussell. What a great camp spot. Loved the drive down the gravel road. The side of the mountain was cool and saw a nice size buck. Then driving thru hay fields was fun. The hay field was wonderful to just go find a cleared spot and look up at the sky.
Even in the dead of winter, the trees & creek were beautiful.
Looking forward to booking in the Spring, Summer and Fall.

This place was absolutely amazing! The views were beautiful, and we had the opportunity to meet Zed. He was incredibly kind, welcoming, and made sure we had everything we needed. The dogs were super friendly too, which made the experience even better. We stayed in the Bobcat area, and at night you could hear the lions and tigers, which made the experience unforgettable. You’re able to pick out the spot you want, which is a great touch. I would definitely recommend this place and would love to come back myself.

My two night stay in #3 was just what I needed while in the area. Sites are all pretty private in that you have some distance. More great sites are further down the farm road and in the forest. There was some traffic from the local airport and a little noise from houses nearby, but nothing too much. Pinned to Favorites.

Great camp site and super kind host. My wife and I came to camp in 16 degree weather and the host made sure we had everything we needed to stay safe. He wanted to personally meet us at the gate. Will be staying here again.

I gotta say this was a super awesome place to camp. It was clean and the hosts where super nice. Didn't get to meet Danny directly but I had the pleasure of talking with (I believe his name was Zed) . Anyways I highly recommend Dark Hollow.

Great spot for a weekend get away! Camping in the bed of my truck with ease and while it did rain the whole time the view made up for it. friendly hosts helped us get settled fast. Dogs are super friendly and really close to Tigers for tomorrow!

Zed and Strider were amazing hosts! Our campsite was beautiful and the hiking trails on property were fun to explore. Zed and Strider asked us many times if there was anything they could do to make our stay better. They were very accommodating and attentive. We would definitely recommend dark hollow and if we are ever passing through Alabama again, this will be where we camp!
